If Dwight just walks The Magic will be an 8/9 seed in the east for a season or two and slowly decline unless they strip it bare right as Dwight exits and keep from signing dumb contracts.

Getting Bynum wouldn't be terrible but I think they're better off letting him walk rather than taking the "best" shit thats thrown their way.

Everyone must be traded for picks or young talent or they will be in mediocrity limbo.

They're fucked financially so keeping Dwight will only place them at the 3 seed under the best circumstances.

I don't think you can just look at the stats and follow that blindly without considering the circumstances. How much time is left on the clock? How good is your opponent at making 3's? How good is your defense?

There were like 18 seconds left on the clock, more than enough time to run a set play and get a good look. The Knicks is bottom 5 at defending 3's and the Celtics is top 10 at making 3's with one of the best 3 point shooter in the history of the game.

In this case, you cannot trust your defense because your defense sucks.

I wish the Magic were bottom of the cellar bad without Dwight but I agree they will be the worst kind of bad, the fighting for the 8th spot in the conference bad once Dwight leaves.
 
Am I reading this shit right. For months I've heard the Magic are one of the worst teams in the league without Dwight and now they'd be fighting for an 8th seed if he leaves.
 
Does NBA-GAF really think that a team whose best player would be JJ Redick is contending for anything other than the #1 pick? They'd probably have to start Big Baby and a center off the street along with the corpses of Jameer, JRich, and Turkoglu.

In fact, even the statistic Pringle used proved he was wrong. First of all, there were more than 10 seconds left in the game. Secondly, the difference was only 3% across all games in the same situation, and since the Knicks has a below average defense and the Celtics has above average 3 point shooting, it follows that it should more than make up the 3% difference.

Conclusion. Pringle is stupid and he's a fraud.

I wasn't looking at the stats it was just in the quote. The 'most coaches agree with me' part would hold more weight imo. And whats with people bringing up the Knicks bad defense like it's some sort of valid point and not just trolling? Was this particular shot contested? Yes (illegal screen and all).

The most coaches agree with him part holds no weight because most coaches actually cares about defense.

This entire Orlando team is predicated around Dwight. Ryan Anderson doesn't score 16 PPG without Dwight, none of those shooters get the looks they do if he's not there. They would also have the worst defense in the entire league. The Magic would basically be the Raptors with a shittier Bargnani without Dwight.

The point is most coaches coach defense so you can trust your team defending a single possession, how dense are you? He cannot use "most coaches agree with me" when he doesn't do what most coaches do.

Or did you not bother to read my first post saying that the Celtics is a great 3 point shooting team and your team sucks at defending 3s?

The biggest hit will be on defense since they'll have God knows who out there at C.

Their offense isn't run around Dwight, Dwight has complained numerous times that his guards don't get him the ball enough. ORL won't stop chucking threes if Dwight leaves. They'll be open much less often but they'll stay free, supremely free. Next year If they get hot they can beat teams to the tune of a 10th seed or so.


You need to look at the East before you talk shit, the 10th 11th 12th and 13th seeds are separated by one or two loses.

BTW, If you're the Knicks, you just squandered the 1st half of the season. Easiest schedule (.450) and you're below .500. Luckily, the 9th place team is pretty far back. But any chance of moving up to 6th place is pretty remote, which means a 1st round exit.

I think people are misunderstanding my stance. I'm not saying The Magic will be competitive and fun to watch if Dwight leaves. I'm saying the east is so weak at the bottom that The Magic will have to out tank a conference where tanking is an art and way of life. Turk, Rich, Jameer, JJ and Ryno are decent enough to out play the wiz/Cats/Pistons/raps consistently.


The Magic will be in a situation trying to figure how to suck as fast as possible while having big contracts and a starting lineup of 6th men.

Smh the shot was contested so any point you're trying to make about bad defense is dumb right off the bat. Plus a coach shouldn't trust his terrible defense to guard the 3 point line for one play but he should trust them to foul at the right time and not give up 3 free throws or even worse a 4 point play?

And finally he can use "most coaches agree with me" because in this case... he was doing what most coaches do! Did I really need to type that out? I mean wow...

Well first of all the Lakers is only bad in one category: turnovers. They are dead last in the league in creating turnovers and it's no surprise why. The other categories? Opponent FG%: #1, adjusted opponent FG%: #4, rebound differential: #2.

Secondly, while the Knicks have by far the easiest schedule their SOS won't move up by much. If you look at the bottom half of the SOS, there's only 2 Western conference teams there and by the end of the season it'll probably be all Eastern conference teams. The difference between the conference is much more prominent this season than any others.

Right, but this Laker team is historically bad at forcing turnovers, 4th worst all time IIRC, and forcing turnovers is still a part of defense.
