I haven't actually finished The Affair yet, but barring a monumentally awful finale, I feel comfortable with this as my top 10 of the year:

1. Mad Men
zZUTZlK.jpg

2. The Affair

3. Better Call Saul

4. Daredevil

5. The Americans

6. Master of None

7. Louie

8. Rectify

Chef's Table
Show Me a Hero

Top 3 Fails:
1. True Detective

Honorable Mention: The gorilla sex episode of Masters of Sex, which is probably the single worst thing I saw on TV all year.

How we ain't even got 2 pages yet? Y'all bitches need to make some damn lists.
Last year's thread wasn't that much longer either. Guess we ain't vidja games (I don't even know if I played 10 games from 2015 this year).

Also seems like a lot more banners this year.

I'm also not done watching everything I want to get through for the year dammit!

Show of the Year
1. The Leftovers ; Season 2 was simply phenomenal. Everything from the acting to the directing was top notch. International Assassin was my favorite episode of the season. Hell, it was the episode of the year for me.

2. Daredevil

3. Mr. Robot

4. Jessica Jones

5. Better Call Saul

6. Black Sails

7. The Flash

8. Game of Thrones

9. Ash vs Evil Dead

10. Agents of SHIELD

Honorable Mentions
Show Me A Hero
Gotham
Mad Men
The Walking Dead
Fear The Walking Dead

Fail of the Year

1. True Detective ; holy hell. When the cast was first announced, I was excited. I was hoping that the new cast would be as good as season 1's. Well, most of them anyway. Not a fan of Vince Vaughn. Anyway, season started and honestly I wasn't enjoying it. Stuck with the season till the end, hoping things would get better but it never did.

1. Rick and Morty ; one of my favorite shows of the last years, occasionally brilliant and always hilarious
2. Steven Universe ; I binge-watched it this summer and now consider myself a fan. Not every episode is amazing, but I like how profound the show can be sometimes, it's a very Pixar-esque quality
3. South Park ; still topical, I love the new continuity
4. Penny Dreadful ; not quite as good as the first season, but still enjoyable
5. Last Week Tonight ; Jon Oliver is doing a great job with his show, and as a European, I love the fact that I can watch it for free on youtube
6. Game of Thrones ; my number six only because I didn't watch anything else but True Detective, which I stopped following halfway through. The last season was honestly very mediocre

The AV Club just released the second part of their top 40 for 2015 (#20-1), part 1 here (#40-21). The 15-entry ballots of 30+ people made for 105 nominees.
I'm going to check out BoJack, Nathan and Review. Review in particular is intriguing me

1. Rick and Morty ; It's really damn funny and uses it's science fiction tropes and various scifi concepts in new, unique ways.
2. Person of Interest ; knee-caps obliberator
3. The Americans ; It's a stellar show, with great cast, captivating storytelling and setting.
4. Fargo ; Making a tv show out of Coen brothers movie should be a terrible idea, but they made it great. And now they did it again! Amazing.
5. Daredevil ; I grow up on comic books and this is what I thought the live-action show should be like. Minus the goofy costume at the end.
6. Mr. Robot ;
7. Parks and Recreation ; I cried.
8. The Flash ; The show is not afraid to make everything fun and light, it's a joy to watch.
9. Arrow ; After middling-to-bad S3, the show mostly came back with the great Neal McDonough.
10. South Park ; They are kicking asses lately.

Honorable mentions:
iZombie
Agents of SHIELD
Supergirl
Jessica Jones
UnREAL
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Game of Thrones
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Limitless

Fail of the Year:
True Detective Season 2 - what a shitshow

Things i should watch:
The Knick
Show Me A Hero
Jinx

Things i should watch but i'm afraid i will be dissapointed again:
Orphan Black Season 3

1. Mr Robot ; Especially notable for the musical cues, Pictures of You in particular was a real punch but wow, Tangerine Dream & FKA Twigs on TV.
2. Ash vs Evil Dead ; Groovy, I've missed Bruce Campbell so much.
3. The Flash ; Probably the best superhero show in an age, corny but knowingly so and fun.
4. Doctor Who ; Peter Capaldi.
5. Jessica Jones ;
6. Daredevil ; Might have given up on this if the costume appeared earlier but man, the corridor fight was flat out amazing.
7. Silicon Valley ; Lost an awesome actor last year, but still on the nose.
8. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt ; Great fun and with some great lines.
9. Sense8 ; Kind of trash, but looked great and well acted.

1. Hannibal - Been a fan of the universe forever and the show lifted it up a few notches
2. The Leftovers - Completely addicted to this; my favorite show while on
3. Fargo - Good from top to bottom
4. Better Call Saul - Didn't have high hopes (I'm an idiot)
5. Penny Dreadful - Great show by itself, not even mentioning Eva
6. Narcos
6. Last Man on Earth - Will Forte at his finest, this season was better than last, imo (I think it's the beard)
7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Love the consistency of the characters in this show. They all have personalities and everything they do reinforces them
8. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
9. Black Sails
10. Walking Dead - Not my favorite season, but good TV regardless

Fail of the year(decade) - True Detective s2

1) Better Call Saul
2) Narcos
3) Fargo
4) Daredevil
5) Jessica Jones

A little surprised that Narcos isn't getting as much recognition here. I thought it was fantastic.

Biggest disappointment: True Detective S2. Absolutely loved the first season so I kept watching S2 hoping it'd turn around but it never did. Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams made it somewhat watchable at the very least.

1. The Leftovers
2. Mad Men
3. Mr. Robot
4. The Flash
5. Daredevil
6. Better Call Saul
7. Justified
8. South Park
9. The Americans
10. Jessica Jones

Fail of the Year: Hannibal

Still need to watch Fargo S2 and Jessica Jones, not sure if I'll be able to before the deadline though unfortunately.

Fail of the Year: Hannibal

Not by any stretch of the imagination when mediocrity like GoT is still around. There's no way you can watch the last half of the season and say it isn't exceptional television.

1. iZombie; My favorite comic book show on TV, which says a lot since it doesn't have that much action. What makes the show are the awesome characters and the amazing acting of Rose McIver especially though the brain personality process. It makes up for the lack of action with the comedy moments in every episode.

2. The 100; A huge step up from Season 1 which I liked. What I love most about the show is that not every situation has a way out, characters are forced to choose between a bad choice and another bad choice. I love the morally grey aspect of the show. Favorite characters have to be Murphy, Lincoln and Clarke.

3. One Punch Man; Probably my second favorite anime of all time right after FMA: Brotherhood. A Hero that essentially one punches every villain, the premise was stupid for me but the execution is amazing, love the humor and fight scenes. Love Saitama and feel like I will like Tornado in season 2.

4. South Park; Loved the continuity of the series and the PC culture focus of the show. I knew I would love PC Principal after
he battered the shit out of Cartman
but man he has probably become one of my favorite South Park characters.

5. Gotham; After a disappointing season 1 the only reason I kept on watching was because I like Batman so I was really impressed with how hooked I was to the show after every episode. Loved the
Penguin clone army
moment never in a million years I thought would they do that. Just like Season 1 my favorite characters are The Penguin and The Riddler.

6. Limitless; I liked the premise of the movie but the movie wasn't amazing. I would fantasize about how i would find the pill during my exams and I would end up smacking them. Unfortunately that didn't happen but the next best thing did, the TV Show came out and it was actually really good. I love the main character Brian and the supporting characters such as Rebecca(Loved Dexter) I also liked how surprisingly dark the latest episode got and the next episode looks really good.

7. Into The Badlands; Post apocalyptic over the top Kung-Fu fighting with a sprinkle of supernatural elements. What is not to love? I would watch the show alone for the fight scenes, currently my favorite characters are Sunny and the Widow.

8. Orange Is The New Black; I actually watched the entire series this year. Loved every single bit of it, from the latest season my favorite characters has to be Crazy Eyes, I really want to read her book. “It’s not just sex. It’s love. It’s two people connecting…with four other people…and aliens.”

9. DareDevil; Another show with amazing brutal fight scenes. What made the show for me has to be the villain Wilson Fisk, probably one of the best Marvel villain from the cinematic universe up their with Loki and KilGrave

10. Better Call Saul; Didn't have high hopes but was pleasantly surprised, honestly the only reason this show isn't higher is because I felt the season ended when it just started to get even better.

1 : Mr. Robot - Caught by surprise show. Unbelievable cinematography, they took a creative leap in the filming style and it succeeded. Pair this with the writing and score among other great aspects and you have the show of the year.
2 : The Jinx - Just an all around great tense documentary.
3 : Daredevil - This is how you do a superhero show.
4 : Hannibal - Amazing.
5 : Game of Thrones - Hardhome.
6 : Better Call Saul - Thinking this was going to fail miserably to then reminding myself that this was part of the team that brought Walter White. I was wrong to judge and am glad it did so well.
7 : Bloodline - Addicting drama.
8 : Chef's Table - A well made culinary journey.
9 : Jessica Jones - This is also how you do another superhero show.
10 : London Spy - A pleasant surprise.

Fail of the year
1, 2 and 3 : True Detective - What the fuck...

1. Fargo ; This show is amazing in all respects. I catch myself hymning the moody music. All of the characters are superbly acted.
2. Silicon Valley ; Comedy perfection. As an IT professional it's also scary how accurate it can be at times.
3. Hannibal ; The second half was glorious
4. Mad Men ; Last episode was beautiful.
5. Better Call Saul ; Quality is up there with Breaking Bad! I never would have expected this.
6. Game of Thrones ; Worst/most-mixed season for sure but still heaps of highlights one cannot reasonably expect from a TV show.
7. The Affair
8. Downton Abbey

1. The Americans
2. The Leftovers
3. South Park
4. Game of Thrones
5. Daredevil
6. Veep
7. Better Call Saul
8. Silicon Valley
9. House of Cards
10. Last Week Tonight

1. The Leftovers

2. The Blacklist

3. Homeland

4. House of Cards

5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

6. Daredevil

7. Person of Interest

8. AKA Jessica Jones

9. The Jinx

10. Game of Thrones

Still need to checkout Mr. Robot, actually about to start it now.

Biggest Failures imo were Season 2 of True Detective and Agent X (lol). After True Detective's first amazing season they probably just should have left it at that because nothing could have lived up to the amazing performances of everyone that was part of that show. Agent X was just pure TRASH.

I gotta give this some serious thought. Of course I haven't seen any of this year's J-doramas except for Mondai no Aru Restaurant which didn't stick the landing anyway.

450px-Mondainoaru.jpg

There are a few I'm hoping would make the list--and I still need to watch S3 of Selfridge--but...man. It's going to be tough to get any fully watched within 12 days.

1. Game of Thrones
2. Daredevil
3. The Flash
4. Agents of SHIELD
5. Master of None
6. The Walking Dead
7. Jessica Jones
8. Arrow
9. Better Call Saul
10. Fear the Walking Dead

1. Daredevil ;
2. Fargo ; A big improvement over s1 with a great climax
3. Jessica Jones ;
4. Better Call Saul ;
5. Game of Thrones ;
6. The Man in the High Castle ; I like the concept but I feel they could have done more with it
7. Agents of Shield ;
8. Mad Men;
9. Hannibal ;
10. Narcos ;

Once upon a time, I was a movie buff. This year I've only watched 10 films from 2015, and that's a stretch by including a standup special and 7 Days in Hell. (On my crazy Excel sheet, anything over 30 minutes and non-serialized is classified a movie.)

Meanwhile, I count 55 seasons of television from this year, and there are still things I've missed and really want to get to see.

Yikes. I'll try to sort out a top 10.

Alright here we go!

1. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell; I had no criticism of this adaptation of one of the most unique books in my library. It was just on point in every way. Was it perfect? No, but it had no flaws as far as I'm concerned. A perfect text to screen translation if I've ever seen one.

2. Hannibal; My relationship with Hannibal is similar to my relationship with pornography. While pornography satisfies my lust, Hannibal fulfills my need for philosophical naval-gazing and gratuitous cinematography. I don't care about its flaws because it's so damned beautiful, visually and emotionally, like the most gorgeous man or woman you've ever laid your eyes on.

EDIT: THAT ENDING BUMPED IT UP TO TWO.

3. Transparent; The start of a dialogue that's been a long time coming for television and film in the U.S. (and perhaps across the world). Season 2 was a bit weaker than Season 1 overall, but still engaging stuff. I understand some people dislike seeing the pettiness of people, but I revel in it and Transparent is all about exposing the big and little flaws in humanity.

4. Veep; I love The Thick of It and Veep is basically The Thick of It: America. Easily the funniest show I've seen all year, and I cannot think of a show that has made me laugh as consistently as Veep... except The Thick of It. Unfortunately, Capaldi isn't in this but it does have Hugh Laurie!

5. Okitegami Kyoko no Bobiroku; Likely the first and last J-drama I'll ever watch to completion. The only reason I watched this is because it's basically anime. It's an adaptation of a book written by Nisio Isin, whose works keep getting anime adaptations, all of which I've enjoyed. It's directed by someone who seemed to have lifted the Monogatari series' direction wholesale. It's acting is standard J-drama acting, by which I mean real people do their best impression of anime characters and while that is usually grating, it works fine here because of how well it meshes with the direction. The central conceit is very similar to Hyouka, one of my favorite animes of all time. Anime anime anime anime anime. Oh yeah, it's an interesting examination of identity, or something?

6. Jessica Jones; America isn't ready for a mainstream television show about rape, and I doubt it'd ever be, so they sneaked one in using the Trojan horse of superheroes. My main problem with Daredevil is that it became increasingly Comics™ as the show went on, and JJ didn't, so that makes it the superior Netflix Marvel show and probably the best and most worthwhile thing to come out of this whole superhero craze. I vomited in my mouth a little when I went through the threads and saw that people actually wanted more Comics™ in JJ. There's going to be enough film and television for half a decade of Comics™, we don't need another.

7. Rick and Morty; I enjoyed Season 2, but it's a bit of blur in my mind. Keep Summer safe.

8. Supernatural; The only reason this is here is because Mark Pellegrino is BACK.

9. Community; That other Harmon show I like.

Shoutout to Treme and Band of Brothers for being the best shows I watched this year.

Work in progress but:
1) The Leftovers: nothing has hit me this hard emotionally in god knows how long. Adored it from beginning to end, and has given me a jukebox full of songs that I already knew but now have more emotional resonance for me.

2) Better Call Saul: had no idea it would be this great. Bob Odenkirk was AMAZING.

3) Master of None: the closest anything has come to an emotionally honest version of Seinfeld

4) Mad Men: I still have several episodes that haven't watched in the last season, but the ending was perfect for what the show was. Loved it.

TV Show of the Year
1. Diamond no Ace
A well grounded sport anime, what's not to like. There's no crazy power level here or lewd hentai stuff, Diamond no Ace is an undiluted pure love letter to baseball. The main hero is not overpowered, most of the side characters are richly developed - they have their own quirks, likes, and dislikes. The battle is really exciting as well. It is unfortunate that the Intro and End songs are rather forgettable, otherwise this series would have been much more popular imo.
2. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell
Honestly this would have been my number 1 except that I'm binging on Diamond no Ace right now and I'm spoiled by its many episodes to watch, and there are only 7 episodes of Jonathan Strange :(.
Amazing, fresh, and immersive. A more grounded Harry Potter series, I wish the author writes its sequel faster. The world setting is unique and each character is complex and interesting - I couldn't find anything wrong. It's one of the highest compliments I could give to any media.
3. Mad Men
Great finale to a well polished series. I will miss the dialogues of Mad Men characters.
4. Game of Thrones
The weakest year so far, but I'm still interested to know what's going to hapen to the characters. Also the dragon's appearance somewhat makes up for it.
5. Daredevil
The fight coreography is really good. The main characters are expectedly bland but the villains are actually interesting and funny. I'm glad they give the bad guys more time and human characteristics to breathe into their characters - to have a bad guy who is afraid for his life longevity is really refreshing!
6. Mr Robot
I haven't finished watching, but I like it so far. It borrows heavily from Fight Club and others, but the dialogue is written with a lot of efforts and soul.
7. Penny Dreadful
It's not as good as Season 1. I don't agree with a lot of the plots and the main story is not nicely delivered. The moody setting and the unique characters that they introduced are still great though.
8. Supernatural
This has become a yearly habit by now. I'm not sure what they can do to shake things up.
9. Humans
Interesting premise at the beginning but it devolves quickly into the typical android trope.
10. Marco Polo
It's pretty.

Watched Archer, Orange is the New Black
Dropped Gotham, The Flash, Arrow, The Walking Dead, Masters of Sex
Interested to watch Fargo, Justified, Rectify, The Fall, The Leftovers, The 100, Deutschland 83, The Knick, The Jinx, Veep, Better Call Saul, Silicon Valley, Person of Interest, Unreal, Bloodline

TV Fail of the Year
1. Hannibal
This used to be my favourite series, but it has unraveled itself into a slow, self serving, meandering, and meaningless show. People are wounded gravely and then brought back in a few episodes afterward, making me wonder if Hannibal is a super smart killer or a toothless madman.
2. House of Cards
I heard great things about this show but the main character and every one else is just so dislikeable. It doesn't help that Kevin Spacey keeps talking to the audience, explaining how smart he's supposed to be.
3. Wayward Pines
The ambience really captures that small American town in the middle of nowhere, the plot was intriguing... and then it just dropped its brain when the twist was explained.

1 Daredevil
2 Fargo
3 Better Call Saul
4 London Spy
5 Humans
6 Mr. Robot

Do I win for most unique?

Unlike other voting threads in this forum, there is an abundance of quality on TV right now. It's really hard to stick to just 10, and there's A LOT of highly regarded stuff I haven't seen!

1. The Knick ; Still the most exciting and expertly made thing on TV. Wish more big-name directors would go the Soderbergh route and just go completely balls deep into a TV show. His style carries this show.

2. Halt and Catch Fire ; Man what can I say, I just love the setting on this show.

3. Mr Robot ; Probably the surprise of the year. Goddamn.

4. One-Punch Man ; ANIMU!? This show is genuinely hilarious and awesomely animated.

5. Silicon Valley ; Still clever as fuck and by far the best comedy on TV.

6. Black Sails ; Huge improvement over the first season, this show is legit great.

7. Narcos ; Some people found it too on the nose, but I thought it was super entertaining.

8. Daredevil ; Better than Mahvel's movies.

9. Mad Men ; Ended at the right time. Any longer and it probably would have outstayed its welcome

10. Better Call Saul ; You know what? This is a solid follow-up to Breaking Bad, much more than I thought. It's its own thing and that's great.

Honorable mentions:

Game of Thrones: it was the best season of the show until it went full retard. You never go full retard.
The Americans: Still a solid entertainer.
Hannibal: I didn't really like most of this season but it has a couple of good ones in there. I putting this in here mostly because it ended and I absolutely loved the previous seasons.
Orange is the new Black: just a fun show.
Marco Polo: Kinda middle of the road stuff, but entertaining nonetheless.

Show of the year

1) Fargo - Hands down the best show I've seen all year. The entire cast knocked it out of the park. Patrick Wilson was perfect as a young Lou, and Mike Mulligan is my new favorite TV character.

2) Justified -
We dug coal together.
Such a perfect ending to an amazing show. Walton Goggins is always gold in anything he's in. So sad to see it done, but it ended on such a good note. Sam Elliott without a mustache was kind of weird, though.

3) Mad Men - Another amazing ending. Don's character development has always been great, but this season knocked it out of the park. Every single arc ended perfectly, and the final scene is still talked about in my family.

Fail of the year

True Detective - Season one goes down in history as one of the best TV experiences ever. I was so excited for season two, I can't even describe the disappointment with it. I didn't even finish the show. I made it maybe 5 or 6 episodes before I called it quits. Hopefully season 3 brings back that season 1 magic.

This thread has convinced me it's ok to skip True Detective Season 2.

Skip it. Seriously, there's basically nothing redeeming about it.

Show of the year

1. The Leftovers
2. Mr Robot
3. Justified
4. Black Sails
5. Daredevil

Fail of the year

1. True Detective S02

1. Fargo ; Miles ahead of the rest. S1 was already great, but this was an extraordinary season of tv. The show managed to impress every week. I thought Hawley couldn't keep this streak of perfection til the end, but he did. There's the 4th season of The Wire, final season of The Shield, 4th season of BrBa, and now... second season of Fargo. One of my favorite tv seasons full stop.
2. Better Call Saul
3. Making a Murderer
4. Bloodline ; surprise of the year. Thank god this was a Netflix show and the entire season was there to binge.
5. Mr Robot
6. Narcos
7. Daredevil
8. Halt & Catch Fire

On the watch list: The Leftovers, The Knick, Rectify. And I'll have to rewatch Mad Men at one point. Stopped somewhere in s4

Fail of the year:

1. Spoiler Culture - We now live in a world where consumption is nonlinear and delayed. This gives us the capacity the gain perspective. As different watchers experience shows at different times and with different cultural contexts, we should be able to have better conversations than ever about shows. This is interesting. Having as your prior belief the dominant cultural impression helps sharpen your ability to form your own impression. This is a good thing. We can go back to things from years before with new insight or come to them for the first time with new insight.

Instead, what we get is petty twerp losing their shit because anyone ever wants to to talk about anything. It's stifling. And it's absurd. To these people, conversation is a spoiler, commercials are spoilers. print ads are spoilers. Actors on late night shows are spoilers. Creators talking about their own work are spoilers. Anyone comparing anything to anything is a spoiler.

Set aside that what little research exists about this suggests that the effect of being "spoiled" is minimal and maybe even positive--it's the mental self-priming that being spoiled is bad that actually causes the harm when one gets spoiled. But set aside that, most of the time the ones doing the spoiling are the spoiler police. By far the most common intervention I need to do regarding spoilers as a mod here is someone innocently posting or talking about something that would only be a spoiler if you had watched the show to begin with and then the first reply is someone who has watched the show complaining on behalf of those who haven't that it's a spoiler. If someone hasn't seen the show they likely don't know who they're seeing a picture of or what's going on in the picture. It's literally just benign pictures of Walter White or Khal Drogo or Snake or whatever and the person reacts by clarifying to everyone that it's a spoiler and often why it's a spoiler.

The worst part is that the spoilers are never complaining about anything with meaning. A show is not a series of events. Knowing that a character on Game of Thrones dies (Pro Tip: Every character on Game of Thrones dies) doesn't ruin it because the show is not fundamentally a collection of trivia about who dies, it's an exploration of the psychology and the politics of this world and how these people cope with the world they live in. Game of Thrones is a reaction to Tolkien, it's a reaction to classical and modern political theory, it's a reaction to the world we live in. It is not a series of executions any more than Dune is a book about worms or the Martian is about potatoes growing on mars. A death might evoke catharsis or sadness, but only because you're invested in who the characters are and what got them to that point. Works almost never hinge only on shock and surprise because a work that does is impossible to revisit and good works can be revisited again and again to learn more about. Works are about the journey and the experiences you have with the characters.

Bad shows get laughed at and cancelled, but spoiler culture is one of many many diseases of the mind that's actually making it harder to enjoy and talk about TV and so it's a bigger fail than fifty H8Rs. Also Ratsky forgot to include in the Fail of the Year post a restriction that I had to vote for a show, so I won't! Don't take my word for it, though, someone way smarter and more articulate than I am made this point last year and it's only gotten worse since then. 💩

Can I include this post in my top ten list? It would easily make it.

Fail of the Year

Game of Thrones

I'm not sure if I will be able to type out reactions and reasons for each one, but here are my top ten

1: Mad Men : I loved the last season, it felt like an ending, not just of a TV show but also of the halcyon era of the 60's (at least that's how the show portrayed it). It wrapped up the characters in believable ways and I greatly enjoyed it.

2: the man in the high castle: a frightening view on a world that might have been. Very well acted, and has me interested in more

3: daredevil: of the two marvel shows I watched I liked daredevil more, not to say Jessica jones isn't good (it is) Just a fun show, and Vincent d'nofrio was amazing as kingpin.

4: making a murderer: regardless on how you feel about the actual crimes and guilt of those involved, this show feels like a damning view on police corruption, and judicial mistakes.

5: Fargo: I loved the second season. It was amazing. I loved the time it was set in and the cast was great. It took me four episodes to realize that jeffrey Donovan ("I used to be a spy... Michael Weston)

6: the good wife: I liked the end of the last season more than the beginning of the current season, but it's such a strong show

7: homeland- loved the German setting, cast of characters was great. Less reliance on "getting over Brody" and more about spy stuff. Awesome

8: ash vs the evil dead: my favorite 30 minute show. I wish this show was an hour long. I always feel it is over too quickly

9: the goldbergs: this show is my favorite 30 minute comedy. Just the right mix of nostalgia and modern comedy

10: green arrow/the flash. I like flash's season 1 end of season more than arrows end of last season, but I like arrows season more than flash's. I'm torn.

Honorable mention:
Better call Saul. It's great, funny, exciting and fun. It's not breaking bad though. That's great for future seasons, where it can get its own identity, but not as good for season 1

Quantico: really like this show, and if it can keep it up for next year it might be on my 2016 list, but it had some missteps this year (more than how to get away with murder which is absent this list). Fun show

Fails:
1. True Detective; I really just did not enjoy any minute with the second season, which obviously, after the first was a huge let down. The setting was boring, the characters were corny (really just Vince's) or not developed enough, and the story didn't make sense to me in a way that was entertaining. Hopefully they can return to season one's form for the third season.
