I just read the script.

No way will this movie ever get made. Not saying it's bad, just saying the shit that goes down isn't getting filmed... It's just too much dark stuff for a 13 year old girl to be doing.

well, it's not too far off of something like Let the Right One In. Besides, they can always rewrite the script. Though the violent scenes are kinda an integral part

mystery / horror movie versus "oh hey, let's have a kid serial killer". Also the original was European, which tends to be less restrictive than Hollywood. Hollywood, under its current vetting / marketable expectations (R movie? And there's the door! ), will never produce this script. Besides, why would anyone cheer for its protagonist?

I have no idea what you people see in that description other than a curiosity of 'how did this end up being a serious pitch for a non-anime movie?' I can understand that curiosity, but this kind of setup is far too common in the "utter trash" department.

Any good ones likely would not be public knowledge. To get on here your script would need to be passed to everyone and their dog and still get dumped.

That's definitely not the case. The only scripts that are not in circulation are those written in house by the studio (Marvel, Disney, etc). Pretty much every independent spec script is relatively accessible in the right circles.

Sooooooooooooo, update here... Reagan is actually becoming a film, and Will Ferrell is playing Ronald Reagan!

Sources tell Variety Ferrell is attached to star as President Ronald Reagan in the Black List script “Reagan.”

Penned by Mike Rosolio, the story begins at the start of the ex-presidentÂ’s second term when he falls into dementia and an ambitious intern is tasked with convincing the commander in chief that he is an actor playing the president in a movie.

The script was so popular following its announcement on the Black List, an annual catalog of the top unproduced scripts in Hollywood, that a live read was done recently done in March starring Lena Dunham and John Cho.

Ferrell will produce along with production banner Gary Sanchez Productions. The package currently is without a director but will soon be shopped to studios.

Ferrell is no stranger to political humor having portrayed former President Bush several times over the years on “Saturday Night Live.” He would eventually took the impression to Broadway in the play “You’re Welcome America.” He also starred in the political comedy “The Campaign” opposite Zach Galifianakis.

Best known for his live-action short films, “Reagan” marks Rosolio’s big screen debut.

That's exactly what I was thinking of. Although I recall it being about a Mexican rebel and a dictator, though I very well could be wrong.

If it's not that then it's probably a newer story called Just Lather, That's All.

BARE KNUCKLE by Dave Matillo - 11
New York City 1862: The bare knuckle boxing champion, Bad Jack, develops a crush on a common French girl and uses his political influence to send her Irish lumberman husband off to the Civil War so he can take her for his own. Unfortunately for Bad Jack, the Irishman doesnÂ’t die in the war and t comes back a killer looking to exact revenge on the pugilist and his entire corrupt entourage.

American version of War and Peace.

I'm about as far as anyone from being a fan of Reagan's domestic platform, but making a movie to poke fun of a person who died of Alzheimer's because "loosing your mind is funny!" is beyond the pale. Shameful stuff, but hey I'm sure the 5 million people here with the disease which is the 6th leading cause of death in the US are bound to find it hilarious.

BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS by Dan Kunka — 10
In one of the greatest untold stories in American history, General and future President Andrew Jackson reluctantly partners with world-renowned pirate Jean Lafitte to lead a rag-tag team of soldiers against the indomitable British Army in the climactic battle of the War of 1812.

Someone never watched The Buccaneer.

As amazing as the concept of Emily is, it kind of reads like a rough draft. There's elements of it that detract from the character,
like that whiny killer. I'd make him a legitimate threat so they match wits, like in Dexter later on.

Same, though.

Sure.

You think that everyone with Alzheimers... is going to be offended?

I just read that Will Ferrel has dropped out of the Reagan flick because of public outcry!? Lemme see if I can find more than just a headline.

Damn I was gonna wait to see it but if they actually back down I guess I'll ask for the script.

Edit: Son of a bitch! Looks like Reagan's family was not amused. I doubt it'll ever get made now, though I honestly agree with their sentiment. If one of my parents got alzheimer's I would be absolutely devastated, even more so if someone decided to make a comedy out of it (though I have to admit the premise does sound hilarious).

So uh would anyone mind sharing the Reagan script with me? And the Emily one too, curious about that but another comment about it being too dark to have a 13-year-old play the part has me feeling like that might not get made either.

MORNINGSTAR by David Birke — 13
The war is over. A bitter and uneasy truce has been reached with an invading alien race, and a new Cold War has begun. Fueled by suspicions of an alien spy in their ranks, the United Nations Intelligence Division entrusts their top agent, Martin Webber, with finding the mole.

Tom Cruise instantly popped into my mind. Just feels like his type of role and movie.

Guess Will Ferrell has to play Emily Derringer then.

I'd be fascinated to read The Libertine if that script is still floating around. Seems like a plausible prestige picture for someone to pick up, but maybe that's just because I like historical stuff.
