Dang Japan hit a 1 in archery and pretty much gave it away to Brazil. Brazil's girl is pretty good tho. Won it with a 10 in windy conditions.

The athletes care and the people who watch the sport more than once every 4 years care.
Winning the Olympic gold matters much more than any World Championship and it's not because they want to win it for their country.

i'm sure they care about winning, but they don't care about a made up title.
Please, the US is not even among the top competition when it comes to chocking at the Olympics. They wish they could choke half as hard as we do. Or, uh, maybe they don't wish that.

The crowds are really grim at this olympics. There's tons of empty seats at the diving and its a final. What's happened with the ticketing process?

I get that but you'd think if the sales were that bad you'd reduce the ticket prices to at least sell the ticket and fill a seat. Though no idea what the IOC demands of ticketing.
And most of seats are really expensive, specially in the team sports (football, basket, volley)

That and a lot of people couldn't care less about the games. The political climate and the issues around the spending got a lot of people flat out against the event.
Yeah, I was kinda the same way. I enjoyed it for a while but never got really into it.

Gotta love what lifting does for the body
I think what's nicest about it is to hear that people can really make a career out of it (like that one woman who was previously a hotel maid who became a weightlifter). Doesn't quite wear your body out like Gymnastics or Running might.
edit: Brazil through to top 16 in women's singles archery.
I kind of wish pro volleyball was a thing like the NBA or NFL. I think I'd actually go check out the games because it's entertaining as hell to watch.

Some sports are not that cherished by brazilian, but there is also some people that buy so they could resell after for higher prices. If you try to buy something today, most of the stuff is sold out.
