PHELPS THA GOD.
Yeah, Haas made that race a lock for America. Everyone on that relay owes him a beer.
Lochte is incredible as well. Great race
What does that make Missy Franklin? These things happen. Takes a lot of mental fortitude and will to keep training hard and consistently perform on the biggest stage
Ugh NBC with the fake suspense for gymnastics
Haas is only 19 iirc. What's the legal drinking age in Brazil?Yeah, Haas made that race a lock for America. Everyone on that relay owes him a beer.
While it's still possibly true, sometimes I wonder whether the number of different types of events helps swimmers accumulate more medals and thus more acclaim. I'm not saying it's easy to hold titles in different swim lengths and combinations, but other sports don't have the opportunity.Phelps is the greatest athlete of all time

We did ok before. They said that after Spitz stopped too. He inspired guys like Eric Namesnik, who inspired Tom Dolan, who inspired Phelps. Dolan is a large reason Phelps went to Michigan, because of the mid distance program there (where he was a glorified coach as he was already getting money in swimming so couldn't compete under NCAA rules). What are we going to do next time around when Phelps is retired?
Medal count is fucked.
Yeah, he swam the 200m literally an hour before he had to swim the relay. Here's where it was in thread: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?p=213059802#post213059802is this his last event for this olympics?
edit: crap the 200m is over already? it was before the relay? how close was Phelps' battle against that guy from south africa?

Last final but more prelimsWas the 4x200m relay the last swim of the night?

I honestly wouldn't judge a basketball player based on Olympic medals anywaysi think it does. Look at basketball players. No matter how dominant Team USA is, they'll only get 1 medal each for each olympics.
What happened to cute snarky face for USA?

McKayla? Injuries.
Injuries piled-up, so she retired. She's doing music now
Ah didn't realize it was injury related, that sucks.
Man, two gold's within a hour of each other. US in swimming just isn't what it used to be.
McKayla retired years ago when injuries became too much. I was actually looking her up today and was surprised how different she looks now. She seems to be focusing on music right now. What happened to cute snarky face for USA?
