Good set of judo matches today, mostly. Think that both bronze medal Men's 60kg could have been better, but the gold medal matches were superb.

All done for today.

Is that seriously the imperial march they are playing before these fencing matches?

I love the whole look of the damn sport.

Why does both contenders in Fencing sometimes get a point each?

It's just for Epee. There are (almost) no rules of engagement, the first person to hit gets the point. If both hit at the same time, both get a point.
The lights on each side lit up when the fencer on the corresponding side touches the other.

Jesus, what a dick.

Love the Google translation.

Glad to see people catching on to Korean Olympics archery. I've been a fan since getting hooked in 2008 and have been trying to get people to watch ever since

I don't think it has been answered so here you go

How do the team bouts in fencing work? Do they go all in 3v3? That would be epic haha

it's a relay, where each fencer from each team meets each fencer from the other team, one after another, so nine bouts in total. points are counted for the team, not the individual fencer. Every time a threshold of 5 is met, the next relay starts. Which can lead to some crazy situation like a team leading 15-9 at the start of the fourth relay, only to lose 16-20 (meaning the opponent scored 11 points in his bout). Nine relays, so first to 45. It makes up for a super strong team synergy, each fencer relying on the strengths and weaknesses of their partners, one can massively fuck up but another one can win back all the losses.

Of course, Foil and Epee always end their relays at time out, so it's fucking up the scores. They end up trying to hit as many times as possible in their relays. Team Sabre is epic to watch.

Hungary gets gold, after Italy had such a huge advantage too. First time I'm seeing a fencing match in full detail and I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised, it's a very skillful sport.

Well deserved Szász.
