Guys, swimming is a young sport compared to track. There is so much experimentation and science going into the sport that the ideal stroke technique in a stroke changes every 6 years or so. Everyone who competed in the 2000s was sort of doing things wrong except Phelps, and everyone was doing it even more wrong in the 90s. The USOC biomechanics people and the top coaches are going to break down Katie like they did for Phelps, and things are going to change a little more again.

True but people don't really consider that a bye and don't consider qualies part of the tournament.

I was technically incorrect, I just meant to say that in a slam, Djokovic would not have had to face such a fresh player in the first round.

edit: ahhaha, CBC just showed del Potro's twitter where he was stuck in an elevator today for 4 hours, then the CBC web guy just switched to his gmail on a live broadcast.

I was gonna say, the way these folks do freestyle looks different than it used to. More rhythmic is suppose.

Do you have any examples of these changes in form?

We can't even figure out how to swim right. Take that, Aquatic ape hypothesis.

I was just thinking about this after seeing Peaty's start technique. Wondering if what he did would catch on or not.

The NYT did a focus piece on this with Lochte and how he found a new way to freestyle: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/08/05/sports/olympics-swimmer-ryan-lochte.html?_r=0

Horrible tactics from Djokovic. Fed del Potro FH after FH, and just left the BH alone.....the shot del Potro doesn't have. Very bizarre performance.

Fortunately, Olympics is meaningless in tennis (it literally awards a whopping zero points this year)

Clearly wasn't meaningless to Djokovic. I'm sure he'd trade a masters for an Olympic gold lol.

Goddamn I fucking hate Brazilian soccer fans. Your team is very limited, you're not helping by booing.

And goddamn I hate the World Cup for exporting the "puto" chant against goalkeepers, makes me mad at every single game.

Is Brazilian football finished?

Not yet. :p
