2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup | July 7-26 2017 | OT | [Insert pun]

Finally, this game didn't deserve penalties.
I don't know what was their obsession with crosses against a team that has taller players than your own.

Also, Blake is fucking great. Amazing performance.

That's the sound of a bunch of corporate executives crying that they won't be able to profit off a USA v. Mexico match.

it's music to my fuckin ears

Congrats Jamaica!!!

Love it. I'm really happy for Jamaica, they've got real talent in almost every position at this point. They deserve to be counted among the big teams to beat in CONCACAF, it's just a shame they went out in WCQ.

Tune any "analysis" shw, ESPN, Fox Sports, TDN... There is at least 2 moron saying that he has done A GREAT JOB.

Whether he has or not is irrelevant to my comments. He could be the best coach in the world and he'd still get fired for this because it's Mexico and they go through coaches like a 7-year-old goes through M&M's.

That said, I do think he's more like Klinsmann than anyone is willing to admit.

I agree there needs to be deep changes to the way the entire thing in handled, but better coaches have been fired after great work just because they lost that one match and the son of the one of the owners had to cut his vacation tour in Europe.

Some of these coaches were fired because they don't call player-A, the one the owner of one of the league teams want to sell, or just because he is not "charismatic" enough.

Not to mention some decide having too much success mean additional work (a curse among my fellow country men), so they drop the ball, cash the last pay check and bail out.

And some just see how crazy and absurd politics are in Mexico and run away in horror.

Every time there is an image/video of a Mexican fan losing it like that there is always another Mexican fan behind them laughing.

In all my friends circles, there is always at least one who is expecting to be utterly disappointed and laughs when they fail. In an "I told you so" way, I guess.

I had to stop watching the last few minutes so of course I missed the goal.
Just saw a replay of it though. Amazing kick. What a goal.

Game notes for tonight from Steven Goff
The CONCACAF Gold Cup final between the United States and Jamaica will kick off at 6:50 p.m. in Santa Clara, Calif., which is 9:50 on the East Coast.

TV: FS1, Univision, Univision Deportes.

Live stream: Fox Sports Go, Fox Soccer Match Pass, Univision Now, fuboTV, univisiondeportes.com

Game-time weather outlook: 77 degrees, sunny, 10-mph wind.

Referee: Walter Lopez of Guatemala.

Unlike the quarterfinals and semifinals, the final will, if necessary, use 30 minutes of extra time and a penalty kick tiebreaker to determine the champion.

I hear ya, begs the question, why is this on a Wednesday to begin with?
I would guess it has something to do with the Confederations Cup conflicting and the FIFA calendar, but I haven't looked into it closely. I agree that it would be better on a weekend, as they've typically done in the past.

To me, this CONCACAF title game is for the title of "Best soccer team in North America" even though there are a few south american countries in CONCACAF
