2026 Might be a Legendary Year for Gaming

Id cross some games on that list off that we haven't seen gameplay for yet, usually a sign that the game isnt close, so like Intergalatic and fable, dont get your hopes up is all im saying.

Also that list isnt mind melting amazing, but as always a Rockstar release does alot of heavy lifting, without gta6 its a pretty average game year.

I have high hopes for 007 though, IO have been killing it with the hitman quasi reboot and the gameplay looked great

Edit: oh shit Saros... completely forgot about, that definitely adds some points

Very mediocre list to be honest.

Monster Hunter: Story 3 and Phantom Blade got my attention, maybe Pragmata. Nothing more.

I really don't get the 'Gears of War' mention, was their last games bad? Just because they are backing to Marcus and his crew doesn't mean will not be as bad as the modern GoW.

Just like the year prior, and the one before and so on.

Why every time someone make this thread, they make a list with 5 games that have no release window for next year, 2 games that clearly gonna slip, 10 games that we don't know how it plays yet, and 5 games that only a small niche care about? Every single year man, I swear.

Lmao, posting a bunch of third party games.

Also that Matvel Hydra game doesn't even have a confirmed release date, and GTA VI will probably get pushed back again beyond 2026.

I think 2025 has been a pretty great year for games, but so far I don't think it looks like 2026 will be better than 2025. Especially since GTA6 will likely be pushed to 2027.

What games are you looking forward to?
  • Intergalactic the heretic prophet
  • Marvel Wolverine
  • Mouse: P.I. for Hire
  • Replaced
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved Remake
  • Pragmata
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
Rhythm Heaven Groove
Splatoon Raiders
Denshattack!
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

, so quite a lot. Probably more than I'll be able to get through tbh, although I don't expect all of them to make it.

But outside of Intergalactic, which I wouldn't be surprised to see get delayed, I don't view the rest as any major titles personally. And I'm not convinced all of them will turn out as great as they may look, we'll see.

It's been like this for years, actually previous years are better than 2026. But I don't think 2026 will be that huge, I can see many will delay their games

That's all fair I just often see people conflate quality with popularity
I very much agree with you here, but the majority of people do this and sometimes you sort of can't blame them. This is just the way of the world, you know, liking and associating what's popular with quality, it's also easier.

But however we rate or view GTA, it is high quality and gameplay is just fun, well, the gameplay when you're just free roaming anyway.

It may appear so, but GTA isn't my favourite game series and 6 isn't at all my most anticipated game.

Crimson Desert, maybe, i'll need to see more, i don't think Judas will release next year going by Ken Levine's release schedule, 2K had to force him to release Bioshock Infinite years ago, he is never happy with his finished games, GTA 6 will be just like 5, online focused, that's if it doesn't get delayed again,

Blood of the Dawnwalker i want at the minute, that's suppose to be coming out in 2026, but i think 2027 will be a better year with The Witcher 4 stated to release then.

OP forgets it's also THE YEAR OF ZELDA.

I'm hoping for an big budget remake of Ocarina of Time

As for other games

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave
The Adventures of Elliot
Deca Police
Monster Hunter Stories 3
Resident Evil Requiem
007 First Light
Replaced
Pragmata
Reanimal
JUDAS

Suprised people are nominating 007 as a potential highlight for next year.

I think it looks pretty terrible from all the trailers.

Wasn't Marvel 1943 delayed until 2027, i'm pretty sure it did.

  • Intergalactic the heretic prophet
  • GTA 6
  • Fable
  • Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
  • JUDAS
These are likely to be delayed or were never supposed to launch in 2026 to begin with.

  • Marvel Wolverine
  • Gears of War: E-Day
  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • 007 First Light
These could be good.
That's 4 games for the year though.

You are missing some though:

High On Life 2
Gothic 1 Remake
Free Stars: Children of Infinity
Directive 8020
Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf
Witchfire
Aphelion
The Blood of Dawnwalker
Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival
Control Resonant
Forza Horizon 6
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era
Mixtape
Ontos
Path of Exile 2
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Titan Quest 2
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War 4

To me it just looks like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle with a different camera angle and characters/story

I didn't like Indy all that much but I don't see the similarities.

Not that I think 007 looks great either. Looks too hand holdy and linear for my taste.

Honestly, the new 007 game gives me the same vibe I got from the trailer, it doesn't really impress me. It feels handholdy, like you mentioned, and I can't shake the feeling that once you peel back the surface, the game might be pretty shallow. A theme park game if you will? Don't know how to explain it

I didn't like Indy either

The opening level was great imo and gave a lot of promise, but after that, it just kind of fizzled. What really frustrates me in games, both in this one and other games is when they give you missions that you literally cant complete because you haven't progressed far enough in the story. That kind of design choice just kills the momentum for me and, in the case of Indy, made me quit entirely

Part of me likes being surprised… maybe the other part should stop being so pessimistic

It looks like the generation defining year to me. I can't believe RE9 is only 2 months away.
I agree, if most of the games release it will be a big year for gaming IMO.

Because for the first time this generation, we would actually be getting a consistent flow of AAA games in one year which we haven't experienced at all this generation. I also think that why this generation has felt so boring and disappointing.

I agree. First console generation i skipped completely. But it definitely looks like the coming out party next year.

I always play pretend when I relate the year of GTA, I play the series cause it's worth a lot more than an average title but it's never been in my favorite list by any stretch of imagination.

It looks like it'll be a backlog-clearing year for me, since I'm only interested in four games from that list.
