Yeah I actually really enjoyed this. If Geoff could just borrow a bit of what the DICE awards do in terms of trying to make the industry seem "professional and respectful" but still mix in some of the fun / hype of his shows it would be pretty perfect.

Good point, that's certainly a large factor I didn't take into account. Asia is a huge portion of Overwatch players, that likely don't get taken into account on a lot of the Reader polls

The argument that something being popular mean's its bad, whether its music, games, movies, etc has always been faulty. Who determines what is good and what isn't? There is a reason Transformers movies are hugely popular, or comic book movies, and why half of the Oscar nominees do less than 300 million global box office.

So Overwatch (GOTY, Design, Action [Doom robbed] and Online) & Uncharted 4 (Technical, Story, Adventure and Animation) with 4 wins each.
Inside (Direction, Art and Sprite) with 3.

Pokemon Sun and Moon, Civilization VI, Steep, Dark Souls III, Forza Horizon 3, Street Fighter V, Ratchet & Clank, The Last Guardian, SUPERHOT VR, Battlefield 1, Doom, Pokemon Go and Eagle Flight with 1 win each.

6 of them are in the top 10 GAF GOTYs.
I think the awards were fairly handed. Doom should've won Action.

Honestly 2016 was a great year, so many GOTY worthy games.
