So awesome.

We haven't met the Mac Guy yet.... but I we will..... They could initiate a fire sale type scenario with relative ease with the module. But can't wait to see what happens next

I guess Jack is Bruce Willis. But what is his famous line? I mean something other than, "CHLOE I NEED THOSE SCHEMATICS!"

Very good start. I felt the same way about season six though before it went south. Hopefully this is more like season five. It doesn't appear to involve nuking L.A. so things are looking good!

Him and
Chloe
are both in the season 7 cast photo (they release those for all shows at the start of new seasons). It's not much of a spoiler.

He is? Well don't I feel like an idiot now lol.

Has there been any word on Blu-Ray releases for 24 Seasons 1-6? I want me some HD Jack Bauer Power Hour (I don't have HD cable and can't get signals OTA).

Maybe I've been spoiled by The Shield (which I just started watching a few weeks ago; fucking awesome show), but I didn't think the premiere was all that great. Both S5 and 6 had much openers. Hopefully tomorrow night is a little more exciting.

Sooo... on the official 24 web site, you can go back and look at characters from each season in the file archives and while most of them have deceased stamps on them,
one of them from the past, Michelle, doesn't have one on her file. I believe she's the only deceased character that is supposed to have a stamp but doesn't. I wonder if that means anything?

Random:

Did the episode seem not quite HD for anyone else?

My TV was set up fine, the widescreen came in....but the image was sort of grainy. It was painfully obvious during the House commercials, so I know my affiliate was broadcasting fine

I for one am so glad they got away from the OMG WE NEED TO KILL SOMEONE OR HAVE SOMETHING BLOW UP WITHIN THE FIRST 2 MIN OF EACH EPISODE- mode.

It sucked and there was no way they could top some of the stuff from previous seasons. What made season 1 so amazing to me was the constant build of suspense/tension leading to the big threat of the day. This felt similar...nothing went boom...no major character was killed off just to be killed off. I like the dead son angle as well. Everything seems to be a slow build up like it should be.

No I understand that, and I feel like sort of a hypocrite for saying the show needs to stop raising the stakes to an unrealistic level (as it did in S6) but then complaining about the lack of excitement tonight. But I don't know, it just didn't feel that that exciting tonight.

But it sounds like tomorrow night will be good, so I'm looking forward to that.

But it also puts the stamps on under the Season character page where they died. She doesn't have a page on Season 5. For example, look at Nina Myers' pages.

I thought the premiere was a little slow, but when I think about it thats actually a good thing. In previous seasons they tried so hard to make the first 4 episodes incredible that they exhausted a lot of great story lines. It seems like they really do have a better vision this season which is a good thing. Female Bauer was good, Tony was good. I like that they didn't show the Pres. son's death. Hopefully all the time off has given the writers time to think of some new plot devices (or plots good enough to not need them)... the mole, people dying directly before giving up info shit has happened way too many times.

Ex girlfriend > Fembauer

I really hope they didn't bring Tony back just to kill him or have him disappear after 4 episodes.

My biggest fear is a "Tony was working undercover the whole time" angle.

The cool thing about Tony being evil, is that it would be the polar opposite of Jack. They both lost alot to their job and still Jack manages to stay true to himself and do the right thing.

The problem was they always tried to end every episode with an OMG scene and in reality you probably don't have 24 of those for a season so I'm hoping they've learned not to try to manufacture them.

Ummm is it just me or did the plot thus far resemble Live Free or Die Hard and Die Hard 2?

it didn't resemble the plot, it basically is the plot of Diehard 4 plus Africans. Doesn't mean it's bad, the setup for diehard 4 was pretty fucking good.

this show really is TV crack. But this already has me more hyped than i've been since about a quarter of the way thru S5. I'm pretty excited that this may be the best season in years.

In Season 1, Tony and Jack weren't best friends, wtf. Tony was trying the entire season to take Jack's job at CTU.

so true :lol
i kept thinking "they hated each other cuz nina was boning jack and not tony." like they didn't get along til tony hooked up with michelle.

Those 2 episodes were great and I can't wait to see tomorrow's episodes :D

This is the man that need to be brought back. The unsung hero of season 5, bravely delivering a file to the CTU briefing room.

but if tony really is evil, which i doubt, that means he'd eventually be killed

Okay, yeah, that bugged me too. They became friends as time went on, so when did that buddy-buddy thing happen? :lol

Wasn't Jack the director of CTU in season 1? So weird to think that for most of the show he kept butting heads with them when he originally ran the damn place.

Jack and Tony weren't friends in season 1, but neither one had any reason to trust each other. Not so much they hated each other but neither had any way of knowing the other's motives.

Anyone else amazed at how fast she confirmed brown shoe guy was not part of the FBI unit>?

"Is that guy one of yours?"

"Let me check *3 seconds pass* Nope, I just checked."

"Ok lets follow him"

One of the things I really like so far is how the FBI seems to be on top of everything. They aren't arguing over stupid shit like the formatting of spreadsheets and there's no retarded love-triangle romance plots either like in season 6. Instead they're just doing their job (and very well).

Just look at the sniper for example, in previous seasons it'd be an unnamed guy who kills someone important (even David Palmer!) then disappears into thin air. This time he was important to the plot, the FBI surrounded him with the quickness and we actually got to see his escape.

Yeah, the FBI was really on top of that!

saeson 1 was set in 2001 right? so if thats 2001 then when tony and jack were friends was back in 1999 when they did business with gabriel. spoiled friendship in 2001 by nina.

O yeah great first two episodes. they just finished for the west coast folks. im excited for tomorrow :D

Only watched the first episode so far. Damn good stuff. Some pretty funny lines and moments as a result of Jack's reputation and i'm already loving Renee. I never feel i can judge the show until a bit into the season, but this was a nice setup for things to come.

I don't really buy Almeida being bad... but they making me second guess it just a *tiny* bit.

It does kind of make sense for him to go bad. Him and Jack have both been pushed about equally to the edge and lost everything for their job. Having Jack go good, Tony go bad makes for a nice dynamic.
