Not bad. Season 6 and the movie disappointed me, but I'm liking this season so far.

Oh, and Renee Walker is the best female character of the show, indeed. It can't be said enough times.

Nina was pretty awesome though. Never forget!

Oh yeah. For a minute there, I forgot about her, I don't know why :lol Still, Renee kicks ass. I mean, let's face it: Not even Nina can compete against Bauer's female counterpart.

She'd better last longer than this season, though. The character has so much potential.

:lol at the Metal Gear comparisons during the live discussion, epic work guys.

I'm not impressed. It's too easy to compare everything to MGS. Heroes is compared to that MGS all the time as well.

I'm really pleased with the show so far. It didn't blow its load, so to speak, in the first 4 episodes like with last season. There's still 20 more episodes to go and it's good to see that they want to let the season unfold naturally instead of peaking in the beginning, stuff in the middle, and trying to peak again in the finale.

My friend and I were betting that Jack would kill Tony in the first episode. Glad to see that we were wrong. :lol

Considering both MGS & 24 are spy/soldier related with huge governmental conspiracies and betrayals I'd say the comparison works in this scenario.
Sorry you don't feel that way.

I haven't played MGS in a LOOOOONG time (last I played was Substance for the Xbox...still gotta play 3 & 4).

Could FemBauer be Meryl? :)

The thing that I both like and hate about 24 is that no character is capable of staying in one situation or place for more than 2 hours. Jack will not be double-agent for more than 2 hours max. Besides, any general doer of villiany dumb enough to trust Jack Bauer pretty much deserves the bullet to the face his new "boss" is going to receive. I mean, just watch his press conference from like 4 hours earlier, dude. Did he seem like the type that hates America? The concept that Jack would basically be on speaking terms with 2 presidents, at least had the respect of a third, and still gets no credit from any higher ups in the government is also incredibly puzzling.

Did it also never occur to Bill and Chloe that Tony could be a double agent, fucking shit up from the inside? I mean, he was working for some asshole doing god knows what for like 3 years?

What Meryl are we talking about? MGS1's, hell no. Renee is experienced and can hold her own. MGS1 Meryl lacks experience, and her role in is limited to damsel in distress and love interest of the protagonist.

It doesn't look like Renee's character is going to be about any of that (at least, I pray that doesn't happen).

Good point.

I hope S8 will be the final season. It should be about someone or some group that wants revenge and they kidnap or kill Kim and the bad dudes are moving around in France, England, and Germany. Would be cool to see Jack in those countries, acting like liam neeson kicking major ass.

If I recall reading correctly, Sutherland was signed for two more seasons (prior to the strike). Assuming that the strike doesn't kill off one of those seasons (I dunno how these contracts are written), then I imagine S8 will be the end. As much as I love the show, I say send it out on a high note in an 8th and final season.

Then sign up for one more season. Season '0' "Operation Nightfall."
:D

Yeah I'd like to see the show go on a high note. For Jack it's been 13 years since the events in Season 1.

Wonder if Fox will let it go though.

If they kill off anyone, it has to be Garofalo's character. 4 episodes in and I already can't stand her.

Agreed, she's really annoying. There's no way someone so easily worried and... unsure, I guess, would be in that position.

I like her as a sort of counter-Chloe. I think her and Chloe will get in a fight, whether its physical or... electronic. They already sorta did and it was awesome :lol

so I say... Garofalo's character ftw, if only as Chloe's toilet paper.

Seems like Janis is getting the same reactions the 24 fans had towards Chloe when she premiered in Season 3. I thought Chloe was really annoying in her first season. Didn't like her until the Season 4 premiere where she really helped out Jack and formed a tight bond with him.

Every time I see Janis I have West Wing flashbacks. It's a little surreal when I finally get refocused on the show.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've ALWAYS liked Chloe. She was on Mr. Show, man. Mr. Show.

Janeane Garofalo on the other hand, cunt in a hand basket. Hate with a passion.

I just got my face smashed in by four straight episodes of 24. I love everything so far except the president who always seems to be smiling creepily at me, and how they killed off her son. "Look what I've done to them," referring to the goons was awesome.

I want fembauer to impregnate me.

Heh. Yes! I loved Chloe from her very first scene where Jack totally owns the shit out of her and she replies sarcastically, stamps off and crumples her face stubbornly at her desk. Fucking hilarious. I'm not minding Chloe 2.0, though, as i really like Garafolo. Her anxiety and bumbling act in order to hold off the lawyers had me chuckling. Plus she has been a totally worthy addition just for the hacker face-off alone. :lol

I haven't seen Entourage, but this Billy Walsh guy has 24's patented suspicious stares and head turns down to a tee. It's cracking me the fuck up. Hopefully he gets more to do than that though!

Overall i'm liking the FBI additions. You feel like there is history between them and they all work well together. The contrast between the now off the grid CTU team is hilarious in an awesome way.

I have always loved Chloe, more so than any of the other ladies (go ahead and flame me).... though fembauer is certainly making me feel dirty. :D

:lol :lol :lol :lol and if it wasn't for Chase stopping Jack from firing her right then, 24 as we know it ceases to exist. Chloe is amazing, and shes somehow manages to get hotter every season.

btw:

D. Palmer-Dem
Keeler- GOP
Logan-GOP
W. Palmer-Dem
Daniels-Dem
Taylor-GOP i assume.

If GOP is in control of the White House, that means conceivably Mike fuckin Novick could show up!?

Yeah, pretty accurate observation. I hope the Dream Team lasts more than an episode or two :(

Someone remind me what happened to the always-awesome Aaron.

I... can't remember? Hmm.. I can tell you, though, that if he doesn't show up at some point this will be the first season without him!

There's a rumor he'll show up this season. Can't imagine they'd leave him out. He's the only person other than Jack (and some random extra who's played a background SS agent) that's been in every season. They were going to kill him in season 5.

Last thing I remember about Aaron was
that he was living with Martha Logan.
I think the actor portraying him is on another show now. Don't know if he'll return.

Last time we saw Aaron

He's in a relationship with the mentally unstable, former First Lady, Martha Logan. Charles Logan shows up in an attempt to get his ex wife to reach out to the Russian First lady so she can convince her husband that one of his generals, Markov, is helping Russian extremist and middle eastern terrorist to fly suitcase nukes over US cities using unmanned drones. At some point Martha thinks the newly re-born Charles Logan is trying to patronize her with his new outlook on life and stabs him with the knife Aaron brought her to cut kiwi with. Everyone, including Aaron is like WTF, but in the end Aaron still convinces her to make the call. And that's the last we see of him.

Also fun fact: Marylynn Rajskub is the second highest billing star on the show, second only to Kiefer of course.
Even though she's been on since the third season I never figured she was that high up on the show.

Well, if it's based on tenure she has worked the second most consecutive seasons. Technically, Tony also did 5 straight seasons before taking S6 off, but he missed about 1/4 of S4 and well over half of S5.

I still have no idea what Taylor's political affiliation is. She comes across as a Democrat to me. Ethan Kanin appeared in season 6 as Secretary of Defense to Wayne, so it makes me think she ran against Daniels as he was never officially elected. Eh, im confused. It doesn't really matter to me in the end though.

Another fun fact. Carlos Benard was (or is?) a krav maga instructure. :D

Yes. After 7 seasons of 24 these 4 episodes strike me as highly implausible! Let's get back to realism 24!!

You *almost* owe me a new computer. :lol :lol :lol

Must snort all this tea out. :P

Just watched it and I enjoyed it a lot, it had so many great moments. I really missed this show, but 24 is off with a great start and GAF comments never cease to entertain me, the MGS comparisons were great.

And of course, female Bauer is awesome.

I just thought of something in the middle of my work. Maybe I'm a dumbass and didn't catch the answer but..

You know how there's a "leak" which is how Tony found out Jack and FemBauer were in that guy's office? And Has this leak been revealed? I remember there being that ONE FBI agent that helped the sniper out...answer not clear though

Nope, leak not revealed yet besides that one agent. No doubt there are several in the FBI alone.

Some words from Executive Producer Howard Gordon during Television Critics Association tour:

http://tv.ign.com/articles/944/944566p1.html

Gordon spoke about how the writers' strike ended up being somewhat beneficial for the show creatively, despite the year long delay. Eight episodes had been shot when the strike began, and Gordon said that coming back, they were able to look at those eight episodes and rejigger them to some extent and "Plan more carefully for the rest of the season." Gordon noted that "As proud as we are of the first half [of Season 7], the second half is my favorite." Gordon brought up how there had been criticism that 24 dragged in the middle of the season in the past, but that this year they were particularly proud of the show moving forward from the eighth episode.

The most recent seasons of 24 had raised the stakes considerably, culminating in a nuclear bomb going off in Valencia, CA at the start of Season 6. Gordon said that going into the seventh season, he and the writers had decided, "The way to speed things up is to slow them down. The most important thing is to locate Jack Bauer emotionally in the context of these stories." Gordon noted that when it came to literally going bigger than ever, "Obviously, unless we blow up the world next year, we can't do that. I think this year, in some ways we've gone back to basics. The first year, it was a very different show. A lot less happened in each hour." Gordon said that in subsequent seasons, the danger was in becoming "kind of like crack addicts. We doubled the dosage. We have to not fall into the 'how can we tap ourselves' question, and hopefully we've done that."

So I just watched the second batch of episodes and...

CHLOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem. I mean uh... CHLOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

No really, if there is a defining essence of 24, it would be found within Mary Lynn Whatever's Crumpled Eyebrows. She is the reason why last season was watchable. Everything about Chloe is awesome, and especially the retarded duel she had with Ugly Garafalo.

CHLOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

This season has been nothing but awesome so far. Hairplugs Buchanon, Chloe, and MexiBauer; there has not been a CTU assembly more awesome. And that they are operating outside the law is just ten times more awesome.

I don't even miss Black Jack. Fuck season 6. It doesn't mean shit to me.

Also the FBI being semi-competent has been a great distraction so far. Who cares if they can't stop the will of God as ordained by Jack Bauer, they do their best. I really like Vulva Bauer and her boss.

24! I missed you so much. It feels like decades since you haven't sucked ass.

Tony + Jack undercover needs to happen for at least 5 episodes. It's the most awesome thing ever and the writers know it! Hell, undercover are always the best parts. That's why I like S3 so much. Jack pulling off that crazy shit with his gun to earn trust is so satisfying to watch!
