I need to stop watching trailers for this game. Doing so is only going to bring disappointment when Nintendo says they aren't bringing it to the West.

They're not even going to say it, they'll be like:
"The Last Story? We don't know anything about a game by that name but keep an eye on Nintendo.com for further developments!"

and we go like:
"Stupid fuckers, you're the ones publishing it in Japan!"

And they respond with:
"Japan, we don't know about a country by that name but we'll keep an eye on the world map for further developments!"

Completely missing the point there.

Point is, Xenoblade clear had some decent coin put behind it and nothing in the 3 minutes of trailer footage we've seen of the Last Story indicates that it has a higher budget then the former. It's far too early to be making such claims.

I'm not saying Xenoblade isn't a good game with some nice production values. The budget was probably on a same level with Baten Kaitos series and Disaster aka not too high but not too low either.

Last Story probably isn't a super expensive game like FFXIII, etc. but still, when there's names like Sagauchi and Uematsu behind the title, that raises the bar for the budget.

With the amount of money Nintendo is pouring in to this game, I would think that NCL would mandate this as a release to different countries to maximize profit.

The only way I could see this not coming here is if the Wii is in such dire straits by January that localization work on risky projects is halted because they're more or less assured that the game would be a loss.

That said, I don't see why a translation group can't just pick it up, then.

Still looking as great as ever! I cannot imagine how NOA could pass this game. But really, I thought the same thing of Xenoblade. I'm still hoping that both are coming in 2011.

Not sure why you'd assume any of these 3 games would have the same level budget. I'd imagine Xenoblade was the biggest of the 3, followed by Disaster, followed by Baten Kaitos 2 since it was a sequel that reused assets from the first game. Not saying it is, but not sure why you'd assume they all cost the same to make and this has a higher budget than any of them. Tetsuya Takahashi isn't exactly an unknown name, and Nintendo bought the company right as they gave MonolithSoft the okay to start prototyping for Xenoblade. The game had 2 well know composers involved as well.
