make an iso of your game (with Alcohol, poweriso or whatever you use).

google: Yet Another GUI For PopStation v1.0, with this, you can turn any ps1 iso to a psp game format, after converting ff7 iso, you will have a folder near it with the same name as the ff7 iso, copy the folder into your PSP/game and you are done.

I'm having trouble getting this to work with my copy of FF7. I made the ISO with MagicISO. Then I used that Yet Another GUI for PopStation v1.0 on it. Finally, I copied the folder over to PSP/game. Now, when I try to run it, I get the warning screen and then black. Could I have screwed something up using MagicISO?

try using another program like imgburn, if everything fails, download it from some gaming torrent site (try downloading a converted PSP ready version).

The .iso that MagicISO made was a full 60 mb smaller then the one from imgburn. So, thanks that fixed it.

Could be to do with the way PS1 saves are handled on this one. Apparently it does something to them so that they can work on the PS3, and once it's done the saves can't be used on lower firmware. I'd imagine there are a lot of people who don't want to do that until any kinks are worked out.

yeah this could be a problem.

I'd really like to upgrade my 1.5 PSP to Dark_Alex's firmware but I've got a problem:

I have a Mac, and most of the programs used to flash the PSP are only on Windows.

Help? I wanna play Tactics Ogre on the go.

Front Mission 3 froze up on me in the middle of a battle. Completely froze up, had to reset the PSP. Anyone else have this problem?

I think FM3 is a game that's known to be problematic, since the beginning.

Can't you emulate Windows?

Custom themes now work with 3.30 OE and 3.40 OE? Since it used to be the exclusive domain of 3.03 OE at a time when I was already at 3.10 OE, I never really got into the scene.

Any advice/tutorials out there?

Eh?

Do you actually need an external program to flash the PSP? I thought 1.5 PSP's could run the DA upgrader.

Not really. The USB thing works (I can drag and drop files) but to prepare the files it apparently needs to run programs all the time. And I don't have virtual PC or access to an XP machine right now.

That's true, it's the PSP itself that does the flashing. Can't you just get a memory stick reader that works with a Mac? Or hardwire the PSP directly to the Mac via USB?

There's files you need to prepare using EBoot and stuff though, if I recall, and I can't run those on Mac.

Reading the new instructions it appears this isn't the case... hmm.

No. The PSP does EVERYTHING, when it comes to flashing the PSP.

Say you use a Dark Alex firmware. It comes with two executable eboots. One that generates the upgrade files you need using the official Sony 1.50 and Sony 3.40 (for the most recent DA firmware) eboots. Drop the two official eboots into the proper generator folder, drag the two generator folders to the PSP, boot up, run it, and bam, it'll generate the upgrade file you need.

Copy that upgrade file to the flasher folder (also included in the DA firmware archive), drag the two flasher folders, run the flasher from the PSP and bam. All done. Then all 4 DA folders and all files within can be deleted from the memory stick.

You only use the computer to download the DA archive and drag/drop a couple of files/folders. That's it.

The one file that needs to be prepared is made on the psp (DATA.DXAR). I use linux and did it without any problems. There aren't any programs that need to be run from your pc.

More specific:

- Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you
are in any SE/OE version. Get the 1.50 and 3.40 Sony updaters (of any region, because all are
currently the same), and copy them in the oeupdmaker directory with the names 150.PBP and 340.PBP.

Execute the program, and it will generate the DATA.DXAR file. The checksums (althoug the flasher
will check for them for you):

CRC32: CDA4638D
MD5: 9754F2CC0CBE2D8FE0DD009C90FDCD9F
SHA1: 6F76BB67B31EFF6FECB72D9D4AF443C793E1E521

- Copy 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you
are in any SE/OE version. Move the DATA.DXAR to 340oeflasher directory.

You need 75% battery, although you can skip this if you pressed L+triangle while loading the program.

Note about pops. I recommend people to backup their savedata before proceeding to change them
(Sony has changed the savedata format, and they force you to change the format in 3.40 if you want to play them).
If a plugin to load previous firmwares pops appear, the savedata will have to be in the old format for those firmwares,
that’s why it is better to have a backup of them. Psx savedatas are in /PSP/SAVEDATA/[code of game]

edit: wait. You can do that whole process on a Mac, Linux etc. Check the link I've posted for the PSX games part
