3.5mm audio ports on controllers should be a standard moving forward

Agree, and they need to enhance the audio quality and volume on them as well.

Dedicated volume and mute buttons would be icing on the cake.

edit: and yeah, screw Apple. that is ridiculous

lolwut.
Why dont you have all your games running through a surround sound reciever which has a headphone output?
I do have that as well, but my receiver is 10-15 feet away from where I'm sitting so it is easier to plug into the controller and not clothesline my kids as they run through the family room.

I'm probably going to be alone with this opinion, but I disagree with having a headphone jack in the controller. One of the reasons the DualShock 4 controllers have such poor battery life is due to all its extra features, such as the light bar and wireless audio signal. Most people probably won't care about audio quality, but it's definitely compromised by using the controller vs. the system itself.

On contrast, the Wii U Pro Controller is one of the most reliable controllers in terms of battery life.

That being said, I fully admit the controller headphone port is handy on the rare occasion the home theatre system is unavailable.

I would take the audio jack over better battery life any day, but I can see how someone who doesn't use it would want it the other way. I always use the jack for voice chat and I use the headphones feature almost exclusively if I play at night. It's one of the greatest features of the controller for me.

I agree, and so should phone chargers work with all controllers/handhelds. (Like vita ps4) not sure about MS, but all the different Nintendo plugs are really annoying to me.

The Joycard Sansui SSS controller is probably pretty well-known to NES fans and collectors. Came out in the U.S. in 1989.

Holy crap, I didn't realise that Famicom controller was ever available in the US, and by Hudson Soft of all companies.

That is pretty ghetto tho, cables all around the device... Kinda like PS VR
