Why can't they just call them "forms." Why the E. WHY.

New silhouette went up, too.

Since the first fanarts seemed so close to the Sugimori art, I wonder if he has more than just the sprites?

I have a feeling Melkor somehow has access to all of the sprites, hence only knowing the numbers and what the specific Pokemon look like and what forms they have. Someone BETTER leak them soon!

If jellyfish is part ghost, though, I hope the official art makes it look more haunting.

I wonder if Ectojelly is the new Tentacool. Surf five feet, encounter 500.

Also, is this the golden age of the Bug-type? Bug/Grass, Bug/Poison, Bug/Rock, Bug/Electric, Bug/Fire, Bug/Steel... Hell, there's two new Bug/Steel-types, and one of them is even the game's Deoxys-like legendary, with a reported "laser cannon" on its back.

Hopefully the Bug gym will reflect this variety. :)

What's that? Was fanart posted of Denchura's pre-evo?

Man, if Denchura has strong Special Attack, he'll be KILLER. How so? Take the ability Compound Eyes, which boosts the accuracy of all moves by 30 percent... Then give him the powerful move Thunder, which normally has 70 percent accuracy, I think... Now it's 100 percent accurate thanks to Compound Eyes, AND it receives STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) since it's an Electric move wielded by an Electric-type Pokemon...

So basically, he'll have a Thunder-powered version of Thunderbolt. Damn. And all those STAB-happy Flying-types will be risking their skin trying to exploit his Bug-type...

EDIT: That fella is freaking adorable.

Supposedly, it's from Melkor. I just found it on Smogon and posted it here though, so I don't have a link to the original source. Also, Thunder will be 91% accurate. Apparently, Compound Eyes is a multiplicative bonus, not an additive one. Not that that matters much, because Denchua will still be beastly. :D

this pokemon reaches dangerous levels of cute
I can see the pokedex entry for it now:

"It tickles its prey with a mild static shock. Then, it pounces on its giggling victim and... fuzzles it to death."

I hate spiders with all my might, but I want to hug that thing.
Agreed. I mean look at it! Normally I'd jump a mile if a spider dropped down beside me, but if that thing plopped down I'd stare at it, it'd stare at me, I'd stare at it, it'd stare at me, I'd stare at it, it'd stare at me, and then we'd be running across a field holding hands while the Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice" plays.

EDIT: Judging by how adorable the pokeball-mushroom Pokemon looks, that spider pre-evo is going to be face-meltingly cute when we get the official Sugimori art for it.

Nearly positive this is the Grass/Steel-type reported earlier. According to Pokexperto: "A ball of metal spikes protruding green. When you evolve out tentacles. (In reference to the Grass/Steel type Pokemon)"

Any guesses on what inspired this... this thing?

A grass burr, the kind of thing that sticks to your legs when walking through the grass, crossed with the Holy Hand Grenade.
Ha! I'll write your letter of recommendation when you apply to be a Pokemon designer because that is just awesome.
Sincerely.

Well, Melkor just posted the following about said grass burr/holy hand grenade's evolution, #598: "Steel Platform Pokémon. A spiky steel platform with three grass arms going up and ending in steel maces. Grass / Steel Type."

So I guess it's supposed to be a steel structure overgrown with ivy -- like nature slowly reclaiming urban sprawl. O_o And frankly... I love it! Sugimori art, please!

I remember hearing that #600 is Gear (who in turn evolves twice), so whatever #599 is must be either a single-form Pokemon or a stage-2 of this Grass/Steel oddity.

Scratch that, apparently Gear's first form (the one we all know, I believe) is #599. See the following Twitter posting:

"599: Gear. 600: Gear + Another big gear behind. 601: Gear + Big gear behind + Small gear at bottom + Platform. No Brainer Pokemon of V Gen."

So basically the "this will be different" was GM's excuse to rehash all the iconic Pokemon
