30 Million Ps3 sold in pal lands.

Do you have a source that this is what SCE considers PAL regions?

Do you have a source?

I'm fairly certain that SCEA covers Latin America, I'm at work and the playstation sites are blocked, so I can't check.

Alright, somebody

I miss my PAL launch unit, with its sexy PS2 playing-ability... :( I'm sure it'd still be hanging in there if it hadn't been burgled when I was at work a few years back.

I'd say their Playstation Plus selection shows how much they appreciate their European customers.

That's the one and only thing we have better. Games and DLCs get released later here, the prices are more high, and there are less demos and services available on PSN. Not to mention, launching a new system half a year later here.

Doesn't work that way. Since EU is the safest market for them they will launch there last in order to get their foot in the door at jap and US.

Yet, that's exactly the opposite what Microsoft does in NA, and Nintendo in Japan.

My memory is a little bit cloudy, but I'm pretty sure the delay in launch in EU was more because of the continued great sales of PS2 in EU and the delayed Blu-Ray production and stock available in NA.

The PS1 and PS2 were released about a month later here as well.

Also Netflix came here a year later than in NA, AFAIK. As we're the best customers, I'd like to see the best service as well.

Sony deploying terrorist Cells confirmed.

I still have A launch fatty, my HDD died and I sent it in for free repair instead of buying a bigger HDD, don't know if I got back mine or some random fatty.

I demand an EU launch not more than three months after the first country gets theirs, with WW preferable. We are the Europes. We buy all your gamez (UK doesn't, but all other EU countries buy from them, inflating their market), give us all your consolez.

Ofcourse it does. It's not like there were only a few. There are very few launch ps3's alive today.
But for 6 year old hardware that is pretty decent these days. None of my laptops or pc's survive 6 years.

Wait you were serious? I know at least 5 people with phats that work perfectly, + the 1 I gave my lil bro. As irrelevant as my ancedote is, its pretty ridicolous and disengenous to try and say something definite as you are.

Looks like I was incorrect about Latin America.

What I said is still true. SCEE's reach covers the most area out of all the Sony divisions but if you count individual countries the numbers are small based on population alone.

Everything that isn't Japan or North America is covered under SCEE.

No. SCEA only covers North America.

These are things that you said. Both of which aren't true.

Well ofcourse the first reply was a joke. But that doesn't mean there isn't a issue. There are many many people who bought a new ps3 because of hardware failure. Many threads on the internet and even a very big thread on gaf (and gaf is just a small group of vocal gamers).

And yeah, the word "few" must be seen relative to millions.:p

Sony needs to sell that 12 GB console in the US, it looks like it will do gangbusters in Europe.
Yup I think the reason why it went to Europe first was because of Wonderbook, Sony needed it to sell bundles, but hopefully by the end of Q1 Sony will push them in the NA and Asia.

I'm really surprised it hasn't. It would sell very well in the US I think.

You removed text from my post. That is editing. I already said I was incorrect about Latin America. I was responding to the second part which you removed.

Not suprised since Sony is the only one that localizes all their games in almost all languages that we speak here.

Book of Spells (lol) was localised in like 20 european languages. Both MS and Nintendo don't do the same for their games, they only do FRIGS usually. Also Sony has a huge presence in the Champion League.

Sony also spends the most on marketing and PR in PAL over all other regions. SCEE is the favorite child in the SCE family.

What I removed had no bearing on what I didn't remove, which were 2 statements, both of them false.

You can spin that to whatever you want but you're not fooling anyone here.

PS3 12 GB is being pushed heavily atm here in Europe. Basically it's the main SKU of the holiday season and there are really good deals on it (the unbundled unit is being sold even at 180€).
Wonderbook is also being heavily promoted and bundled with the 12GB console.
There are also bundles with the 500GB and either FIFA, or AC3 or Uncharted3+GT5 sold at 250€ (50€ off the official price) but surprisingly enough retailers are not focusing on them.

Although for us core gamers the 12GB is a bit of turd, based on my anecdotal evidence it seems like SCEA has missed an other opportunity and will probably introduce the SKU in NA next year among with a proper price drop.

SCEA definately has, The below is a post I made from another sales thread earlier, but it applies here as well.

It's just a pricing issue for parents shopping for the holidays. PS3 should have done a price drop with the PS3and not gone for maximum profits...

Entry unit prices in US:

Wii-U: $299 (basic unit)
PS3: $269 (250 gig Super Slim Uncharted/Dust bundle)
360: $179.00 (4G console only)
($249 for 250G with Skyrim & Forza 4)
Wii: $99 (console only)
($129 with Sports Resort/Sports bundle)

They really have to avoid the huge pricing disparities in the US with PS4 or they are cooked...
Would help out NA greatly by offerign a lower price point, and they missed another opportunity by not at least putting out a joint marketing agreement with Seagate, western digital, etc to market upgraded hard-drives for their consoles. Peopel can also use 32 GB flash drives for storage of game saves as long as it is not a locked save.

PS2 (EUR/PAL),PS1 (US/UK) and Wii (JAP) are under threat. The PS3 has a ridiculous amount of games in development and the ability to make deep price cuts, unusual things after six years.
