Which show should I watch first? I missed out on all of these shows so I'm catching up, I really liked Parks and Rec from the few eps from Season 6 I saw on a flight. I'm thinking about going with that.

Never seen the office. Seen most of Parks and Rec and I really enjoy it. I also just recently started watching 30 Rock as well and I enjoy it also. Of the 3 i'd recommended Parks and Rec though, especially since you've already seen some and enjoyed it.

I'm actually gonna say, Office, 30 Rock, and then Parks and Rec, just because The Office and Parks and Rec feel very similar for the first few seasons of Parks and Rec so it might be nice to have a break from that style.

Also I have a standing rule that for those 3 shows that it's better to skip the first season and watch it later, none of those shows first season is their strong point (not referring to UK Office).

The US Office is not good. You're better off watching any of the other ones.

This is so incredibly false. The first four seasons are some of the best network comedy ever.

It even stayed funny until Michael left.

Office US -> Office UK -> 30 Rock -> Parks and Recreation

Watch the UK version after the US Office to see where it all originated from.
Parks and Recreation last since the 1st season of The Office and Parks and Recreation will feel very similar so go with the awesome 30 Rock in between to mix up the styles.

Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, The Office

This way you're going from least amount of episodes to most. :)

Or just watch all three at the same time, like a couple episodes a day each or something.

The UK Office and 30 Rock come into their own the fastest i think, so one of those might be easier as a first watch (granted im in the minority of liking 30 Rock from the first episode while most people say it takes a few episodes to get good). The other two's first seasons both feel like a warm up, and the US Office's fall from grace in later seasons is gigantic.

I guess if I had to rank them, taking the shows as a whole
UK Office > 30 Rock > Parks and Rec > US Office

A US Office that ended sooner would be ranked higher, seasons 2-4 are amazing.

If it were me, I'd skip the US Office and just do Parks and Rec and 30 Rock. Pick one, get to at least the third season and keep watching. They both have up and down seasons and rocky starts. For me, Seasons 2 6 and most of 7 of 30 Rock weren't the greatest, but I'd still take watching them over something like Big Bang Theory or 2 Broke Girls.

I never saw the point of first timer's skipping early seasons. The only reason these shows became great is because of the set up work in the early seasons. So start at season three and you sit there wondering"who's that guy?" "what's their relationship?" etc. Start at the beginning and be mildly entertained and probably enjoy the show more once it hits its stride.

and if you like either, add Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Watch the UK Office first. Without a doubt. It's only 12 episodes + specials. It's a brilliant show. I enjoyed the US Office too, but it's a much more broad, wacky show (even in the earlier seasons) compared to the UK version.

I'd go, UK Office -> Parks and Rec -> 30 Rock -> US Office.

That gives enough time to separate the UK/US versions.

I vote 30 Rock, it's the one I felt held up most consistently over the course of its run, whereas the start of Parks and the end of Office are more than a little off. I think it'll leave you in a better mood to continue on to the other shows.

Couldn't disagree more.

Season 2 of 30 Rock is god tier television, by far and away the most consistent season.

That was the season shortened by the writer's strike wasn't it. I have yet to rewatch but I just remember it being slightly short of other seasons.

to reiterate: even shitty seasons of 30 rock and Parks and Rec outstrip nearly everything else.

also, I second adding Community as a like minded series.

Eh, burn through the first couple seasons of The Office, and drop it as soon as you start teetering about it.

Doesn't really matter which you do next. 30 Rock is great throughout, Parks and Rec doesn't really hit its stride until near the end of the first season, but I like it better overall.

Parks and Rec simply because it's for the OP and he likes it already. They're all good, I'm biased towards Steve Carrell though. Michael Scott is magnificent entertainment lol

Parks and Rec is way better than the Office (US)

I haven't seen much of 30 Rock but what I did see I didn't really like much at all.

UK Office, then 30 Rock, then the good seasons of US Office then Parks and Recs.

30 Rock is more consistently good than both US Office and Parks, both of which have some real real lows. UK Office is short and you can bang it out quickly, well regarded by nearly everyone and it's the original.

I want to say The Office (US) but then they spend a few seasons shitting all over it with the sitcom romance drama BS.

Season 1 was poor. Season 2 was amazing though and it stayed that good until Season 4 when it started going downhill.

God... Thank God

There's hope for GAF yet. No. There's hope for the entire world.

30 Rock is an instant classic. What I watched from Parks and Rec seemed a bit too much like the office (US) and The Office has a clearly marked best by season label.

30 Rock is genius. Watch that first.

The Office is brilliant from seasons 2 to 4 then sorta tapers off. Parks is much more consistently funny though doesn't peak like Office does.

30 Rock is definitely the funniest, but Parks and Rec might be my favorite just because it gave me just the right amount of emotional bits from the characters. I think the best parts of Office US skirted that line too but then went a little too far for me. 30 Rock is on the other end of the spectrum. Most characters are joke delivery machines but in the best possible way, with just a little sentiment mixed in. It doesn't let anything get in the way of it being hilarious.

this is what I would say as well

don't watch the UK Office unless you're a fan of british humor though. I tried watching it and couldn't even make it through one episode.
