Spent about $490, which is a little on the high side for me, but I love the way they fit. They really seem to accentuate my body type. Does anyone have any recommendations for good, expensive sunglasses?
Jesus christ.. And people on this same forum complain about the price of the PS3 :lol

I could buy jeans almost like those for $50.

those are cheap and poor fitting jeans, he is trolling.

i wear sub $100 jeans, i only wear my shit once then they go to the laundry pile. after 8 months of use they've only faded slightly and i dont smell like shit like some of you probably do.

seriously wash your clothes. if your $300 jeans cant handle it, then they're probably not worth the money.

The not washing thing is more disgusting than the price tags.

After looking into it more, the New Standard jeans might be a bit more slim than I like; I really don't like slim fitting jeans.

Any alternative for a loose/baggy fit?

check out nudie's lines, they have a ton of different fits. check out their website to get a feel for their styles, keep an eye out for sales on cultizm / revolveclothing - you should not be paying more than $150 for a solid pair of nudies

Sweet, thanks for the info.

For me, the hate on R&R and True Religion jeans aren't b/c of the trendiness, but they just don't look that good IMO for the price. I'd just rather spend that money and buy some APCs. The pocket arcuates on the TR jeans are too flamboyant. Unless you're the right body-type for it, it makes your butt look too bubble-butt :lol

I like just simple, dark jeans with minimal classic to no fancy stitching at all. I think out of all my jeans, I like my Skulls and APC's back the most. The Iron Hearts have a classic-looking back especially with pocket placement, if you're into that.

APC Rescue.
APC's stretch out about a size.

I think Nudies Regular Ralf's are looser/baggier too.

Dior makes great ones, and the black new standards are nice too.

The black New Standards have a weird look to them. It's almost shimmery/shiny and not a dark dark black and the NS are too big for me now ;) I also forgot about the Dior's.

I approve of this thread.

Currently in rotation:

Limited Edition Lee`s cinch back with painted logo and some pretty tasteful red stitching. Original MSRP, probably several hundreds of $. I got them for 90$.

Several Cheap Mondays. A bit on the slim side but a solid choice for general day to day mucking about.

A few Nudies. Two pairs of Baggy Björns, one of which is worn into the ground. The other pair is starting to show it`s faded creases nicely.

Edwin. A pair of 300$ jeans in raw selvage denim that feels like wearing cardboard. Just started to wear these and i will look forward to breaking them in and giving them my personal touch. These jeans will be a companion for many years to come. Incredible quality and attention to detail.

And not to feed the digital trolls but if they put on a pair of Edwins or Nudies they would understand that not everyting in life can be told and understood via cold numbers.

what about gstar?
I've had some gstar pairs that I've loved. I'm not a fan of the super over-designed ones, but I love the fit on them. I'm kind of shopping around for a new pair right now.

I have a pair of APC new cures that are almost two years old now and are finally perfect. The fading is really nice and the shape makes my ass look good (always get compliments when I wear these!) and accentuates my crotch :lol

This is an honest question, but what is the difference between a $30 pair of jeans and a $500 pair of jeans?

i'm not sure any of the jeans posted here retail for over $300. but if you buy a pair of Somet or Skull jeans for $300 you will be getting:

superior build quality, very thick+heavyweight denim, subtle design choices, great fits, the tendency to age VERY well (ie, they get better looking over the years vs getting worse looking)

It took two years? How many times a week did you wear it?

Well, honestly, I didn't wear them all that much the first year. Just every once in a while. Then I started wearing them a couple times a week, but rarely would I put them on multiple days in a row.

pretty much this.
by buying raw denim, you are basically buying a blank canvas to mold to YOUR body, making it a more unique fit and distress levels, rather than buying something pre-made/pre-washed/pre-distressed to a generic mannequin.

Fuck me. I bought a pair of nudies from Self Edge last night and realized after I'd placed the order that I bought them too large (I just got overwhelmed by all the this many inches is actually this many inches is actually this many inches after you wash them is actually this many inches after you stretch them in is actually this many inches if you account for wenis).

Now I'll have to deal with shipping costs back and forth and back and forth. Poop. Very quick and courteous service though--had they waited just a bit to ship them, I could have intercepted the order!

Hi Sean.

Jeans don't cost that much. Go to a boutique and try some on (seriously, places like that are begging you to come in right now) and just see how they feel. There really isn't a comparison. I have a couple pair of cheapo target jeans I wear for doing work around the house, and I have my nice jeans I wear out and to work on casual Friday's. There's just a massive difference in terms of fit / feel and how they look.

Wow. Never thought I'd see a denim thread on NeoGaf. Let's do this...I guess. :lol

Edwin Premium 503's. Probably the most comfortable pair of denim I own.

DSC_0788.jpg

Nudies Slim Jim Dry Black. I'm pretty sure it's imfuckinpossible to put on these. Skating, running, and they still look brand new after almost 2 years.

Imperial Shearers. I just got these 2 months ago and they're my favorite pair at the moment.

I don't get the Diesel and True Religion hate, are they really that bad? Bought a pair of TRs that I really liked a few months ago but I had no idea about the hate. Whatever, I really like 'em. I'm curious though, what are everyone's opinions on 7s, Humanity, A&G, Chip and Pepper, Joe's? I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch I'm familiar with too, oh well.

I know 7's get a bad wrap, but I have a pair of A pockets that are comfortable as hell. I appreciate wearing hard ass denim, but 7's feel like pajamas in comparison.

Really, wear what you like. I personally don't like TR's but if you're into them then do you.

When and how many times should you wash these ? My friend bought a pair of nudie once and he said you basically never wash em. I've got some Diesel's (they were on sale sub 100$, don't trash on me now:lol ) and I basically wash them every 2 weeks or so, am I doing it wrong?

go back a page and check out the discussion there. diesels and TRs are decidedly garish and eurotrashy

I soak them in a bucket and then put them outside to dry. Sometimes it's you have to soak some of these jeans to get rid of excess indigo that will bleed on to clothes. That shit happened to me with my Acnes! Bleed all over my Obey tee and Creative Recreation kicks! :(

I use detergent that will hold the color. Don't use a lot of detergent when washing jeans.

Do not run jeans in the dryer unless you are trying to shrink them.

There are other $100+ brands out there like True Religion, Diesel, etc. Stay away from them. Not only are they ugly, but they are poor quality for the price. My brother loves True Religion and they are some of the ugliest things around.
I haven't washed some of my jeans for months. Sun plus febreeze for me. They don't even smell much if I don't spray them. The only time I do a handsoak is when I get crap like sauce or avocado... Etc on it. But I only wash if I absolutely have to.

You're really not meant to wash them.

I really kind of want a pair of adidas/diesel coproduction jeans...

Wash once every 7-8 months. For your Diesel's, just soak them in hot water, for an hour to two hours every 2 months.

What do the denimheads say about H&M jeans? They're usually cheap as shit, and ignoring the ones with aggressive/garish fades, they can look very nice and have a lot of fits to pick from. For $30-$40 I don't really care if they last 6-12 months.

Correct me if I'm reading this wrong but the whole point behind buying un-distressed jeans is to get that diamond pattern behind the knees. Every single picture post featured this prominently?

I'm presuming even more but your friends must similarly be interested in the that rear-knee area. It's simply not something you decide to care about without a group of like wise supporters.

How do you discuss these things and where do you see like-wise dressed people?

I ask because this preoccupation borders on full blown sub-culture. It's like something you would read about in the New Yorker about Japan.

Those marks behind the knee are known as honeycombs within the denim otaku community. I actually have a friend that thinks they look stupid, but they were on jeans that had the effect right off the rack. I actually don't care for the honeycomb effect that much, but others see it as the mark of an awesome pair of jeans.

Honeycombs, whiskers...I'm sure I'm missing more terms but there sure are a lot of terms when it comes to denim.

well getting the honeycombs/whiskers is not entirely the whole point. It's more getting untreated jeans to mold your body and the results are the contrasts/fades/whiskers/honeycombs. Certain fades and distress wear sort of in a way tells a "story" about how you worn them, care for them, length of time etc. It's natural and comes with constant wear. By doing this you are "breaking" them in to mold your body.

and yes, it is quite a huge sub-culture.

Man, most of these Japanese jeans are loooonnng.

I'm about 5'8 - 5'9 and am struggling to find quality jeans that sit nicely without being rolled up. Any ideas?

Got Nudies and such already, looking for something a bit different.

I have bought 2 pairs of Hugo Boss jeans for around £125 each. One is old, one is around 4 months new.

I wouldn't reccomend them. That is around $240. well overpriced. But others in the know, please enlighten me. Are Hugo Boss jeans any good. I know they have 2 labels.

Orange Label
Black Label

Black being the more; formal, expensive, and quality. Also in the Black range they sell selvedge denim, but it's £200. Is that any good. Or all are rubbish and stupidly overpriced.

Also what about Calvin Klein? Any good.

Isn't Nudie Jeans supposed to be really good. Last time I checked they had jeans over £200. That's got to be more like $300-$450 range.

where do you live? in nyc i see kids walking around shopping in nice jeans all the time, in brooklyn i meet the occasional denim aficionado at parties and such. some of my oldest friends have grown with me into fashion-minded people.

and to add my thoughts on honeycombs: fades look good on well-worn jeans. the area behind your knees fades really well and looks cool. lots of people figured that bit out on their own.

get them hemmed! i don't cuff my jeans at all. you said you're looking for something a bit 'different' - what's that?

not all nudies are made from the heavier (more expensive) denim - the pair i posted above was less than $150 USD. i've never heard anything good or bad about hugo boss jeans, sorry. looking at them online, they look WAY overpriced. for the price, i do feel like you can find better on the OP list.

I'll look into the APC New Standard jeans. My budget is typically around 30-60 for a pair but I've been looking into getting some new ones and make the value judgment on more expensive jeans myself.

As a guy who likes loose/baggy fits and have long legs, will these APCs fit the bill?

Might want to get Rescues or even buy the NS a size big.
