[source: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/674/674175p1.html ]Tomonobu Itagaki,... also mentions the d-pad on the standard controller, which he describes as being somewhat difficult for a fighter like DOA4.
bengraven said:I agree. I only use the d-pad for moving in Tony Hawk games but I could only use it for five minutes with THAW and I returned the game the next day out of digust (oh, who am I kidding? the game itself was pure shit). It's a shitty, shitty little control pad. Not nearly as bad as the Smaller-Than-GBA pad on the GC, but still bad.
Jeff-DSA said:I'm pretty sure they're the same size. I think Nintendo used the same pad on the GBA and GCN to save money and make manufacturing easier. I might be wrong though...

Sounds good, but only $5 cheaper than the real brand? How much does it cost to make these things?Gunstar77 said:Has anyone tried this controller?

IGN gave it a 8.9 and had alot positive things to say about it. No wireless though.![]()

Yeah but I can still find cheap Xbox controllers for $10 despite regulars being $40 Canadian. The royalties can't be that much.OniShiro said:They have to pay royalties to Microsoft.
interesting point about the retro games ... I forgot that most retro console games were obviously designed with a D-pad in mind because there were no analogue sticks back then..LAMBO said:For me the placement of the dpad pretty much makes it useless for fighters. I know most disagree but i think the dual shock is the right way to set things up. With the rebirth of retro games it's even more true.

KingJ2002 said:the d-pad is lame... playing doa 4... everytime i press foward i jump foward. so trying to do kick counters is very frustrating at times. i know they tightened up the controls but the controller doesnt help at all.

Yes, the do.Y2Kevbug11 said:Does Nintendo have a patent on just the standard cross? Cause it's the best design.
ItsInMyVeins said:I always get the feeling that whenever I press right on my dpad it also hits down or up randomly. It's almost as crappy as the d-pad on the GC.
kinda' heheh. .. I was mainly trying to indicate that these D-pad issues are not just issues that GAF users have experiencedBuddyC said:What the hell are you trying to accomplish by posting these links? I know what you're talking about. Its like the pad is off-center or something. Its down that doesn't seem to press completely for me.FlyinJ said:I bought a second wireless controller today, and it has the exact same problem. Except on the new one, pressing right is less sensitive instead of down.
It's the same thing though. Pressing right, I can feel and hear the Dpad plastic hitting the chassis of the controller... just like down on my first one.
