360 FW Update

It allowed the console to interact with the Wireless guitars being released in the upcoming months.

Nothing more.

Xbox 360 System update

Moments ago, the team released a system update (aka Dash update) to Xbox Live. Over the next few hours, when you sign in to Xbox LIVE, youÂ’ll receive a prompt to accept this mandatory update. WhatÂ’s in this update? The only thing this minor release will do is prepare your Xbox 360 for the wireless guitars that are being released in a few months.
No new features beyond this wireless support are included in this update. As usual, weÂ’ve got some new features planned for later this year as part of our biannual release cycle.

Will we *finally* be able to rewind and fast-forward in the music player? Stay tuned for the next episode of Dallashboard.

they didn't even fix that annoying bug where you don't sign into live when you have a 360 game disc in the tray and boot to dash option on while they were at it?

The option was added quite some time ago.

I recently started getting this problem when I begun using the USB Wireless adapter, but when I switch back to ethernet the problem mysteriously goes away. Perhaps that's it?

yey I knew it was out there as a bug for some people.

Boot to dash option turned on
+
Disc in tray
=
You boot to dash and dont connect to live.

I remember the other part of the puzzle now

+
You use the 360 WiFi Adaptor

Bug for everyone in this situation, if MS was pushing out any updates I thought they would put a cheecky fix in for this

Yep, it's gotta be the wifi adapter. Happens to my friend as well.

and there GAF had thinking I had just dreamed something up

/phew!!!

Guess its MS;s strategy to wait till the big updates for everything bar title necessary ones.

Why didn't they fix the damn auto-login for people using the Wireless adapter.

edit: I see we're already discussing it :lol

Just a little bit, where were you this morning :D

:lol :lol :lol

I never leave my disc in, but I use the wireless adapter. What exactly is the bug? Auto-login doesn't work?

yeah

Wireless adapter + auto sign in + boot to dash + 360 retail game disc in tray
= Does not auto connect to XBL.

It takes 10 seconds to fix you just press connect to XBL but it gets old every time you have to do it.
Also if you start a game or XBLA title it will connect up to.

been a bug since last update.

ou never ever leave a disc in? mild ocd? :D

Yea, you have to log into Live manually. You will auto-login when you boot up a disc game though.

It's annoying when you want to play an XBLA game though, especially one that you downloaded on a different 360.

Some people have had some success in fixing this issue by plugging in the wireless adapter to a different USB socket on the 360, and this probably occurs in the first place because of the order of which the sockets get powered up.

I don't auto log in either. But I don't use the wireless adapter. It started when I got a refurb back for my repair.

OK Im gona sound like a dick, I dont mean to but this is GAF.

Is this connect to live on sign in, if sign in then,

You did go into your profile settings on your new 360 and select your profile to auto sign in?

if connect to live then hmmm /rub chin.

Expecting a lot from MS in their next update, especially now that Steam has brought the community features we have been screaming for live for ages

Groups (Shared friends lists even over 100 people!!!)
Social Friends system (see other peoples friends)
Party Chat (more than just 1 on 1 chat)

Also Home will be hitting on PS3 too, come on MS pull your socks up, dont let us think the Live boat got to big to be nimble?

Yeah my console does not get logged in automatically either with a game in the drive. I am using the Wifi adapter.

Click on your gamercard and the bottom option is for Auto Sign-In.

My console's pretty damn random with whether I get logged in and whether it connects to Live. Hasn't been bad in a month or so, but I know it wasn't affected by a disc in the tray.

I do have a mild case of ocd...

However the reason I always take the disc for fear of the disc being misaligned the next time I boot the system up.

Something like this:

PS-- How is online play over your wifi adapter? My signal is kind of weak and people get pissed whenever they play me :(

I'm one floor away from my linksys router...wonder if that's why.

I have a strong signal from my router and a business net connection so I often host a lot and its no different from the cable for me.

As for the fear of disc scratching fair do's tho im sure its more OCD :D

I'm not a betting man...but I garner that it would be a safe bet that we will NEVER see such a feature with the music player.
