(360) New THE IDOLM@STER pics

I don't necessarily think this game is "dangerous",

there is a breast feeling mini game if you have the Tomboy character when she tries to prove she is a girl.... i think she's 14 as well...

Seriously - this game has PD Bears stamp all over it.
Look up at the name of my group!!! ;)

The tomboy is 16, which is legal in the UK and Japan.

I'll just pretend she's younger then... err... i mean... she's not in my team! it's irrelevant! can't prove anything - it WASN'T ME!!!!

Is it normal to have ripped the music out of the trailers and turn them into mp3's?

damn, i want to play this game. reminds me of princess maker...

You've gotta be ****in' kidding. Eternal Sonata demolishes this in terms of visuals, without even stepping into the art direction catagorey.

I'm unsure of why this is impressive just because they can stuff a couple of smooth, but completely detail devoid models on screen for what is little more than an interactive cut scene.
Putting aside art style, you must admit it's one of the best there is out right now.

Got the game along with the preorder bonus DVD. There are some new songs in there, let me know if you want me to put them online.
Tried the game briefly yesterday, it looks like it will be difficult if not impossible to play without being able to read japanese. Ho well.

It's not really the actual game I don't understand, it's just that about 30% of the game requires you to read a sentence in Japanese and choose the right reply. Or understand what the girl wants, and to do it.

Yeah and most of the charm of the game is gone if you don't understand conversation between you and the girls, I don't think mini-games are enough to keep you interested in the game.

I know, but after all this game falls in Otaku territory, so you have to expect this sort of stuff, especially on a japanese blog.

hi BlimBlim, i've been playing Idolm@ster since last friday, and i agree that if you don't know any japanese, you won't know anything is said, and that means you won't even know what you're idol is asking you in some points of the game, as well as you won't know what option you have to answer to her when the 3 button options appear on screen.. so it's just a try-it and pray to choose the right answer.

beside that, the game is fully playable. as i stated before i chose Miki as my Idol, and rite now she's at level 8 with a E Rank, and i've played some auditions, and this is what i scored: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 1st, 1st.. i wasn't really hard to know how to play it, it's just a matter of being used to play japanese date sims and some quick time event gamas to figure out how this game works.

obviously this game has a high pecentage about the textual content, and if you don't know any japanese you might find lost, but not too much. anyway i found some explanation about the auditions and how it works on gamefaqs, here you have what it says in case you need any info:

Let's start with the auditions. The way you're supposed to play it, is to press the appeal button(s) along with the tempo. That way you get score 'shiny appeals' which award more points every time.

As an indication, you're supposed to press the appeal button when the 27 circles (9 circles for each phase) are shining brightly - use that to estimate and tap as close to the beat as possible.

Your unit's tension come into play here, in that the higher your overall tension, the wider the window of opportunity for shiny appeals is. Conversely, the lower it is, the harder you have to concentrate to get those elusive shinies.

Furthermore, high tension also contributes some extra points to every successful appeal. The same goes for low tension, which takes a few points off each successful appeals.

Every successful appeal made on a genre will decrease the interest of the genre judge. This is indicated by a down arrow on the judge's head. The more appeals that category receive in a single turn, the higher the interest drops. Observing the relative amount of change in the three genre interests is key, for it tells you which genres all six idol units are, in general, banking on. Focus on the genre that drops more.

But don't focus on it too much - after all, if you qualify in the top three for each genre in one single phase, you get the full amount of points anyway. And don't forget - if you come in 6th place for a genre, it's a -1 penalty.

More importantly, if everybody focuses a lot on a single genre, its interest will keep dropping until it becomes 0, when the judge leaves and the genre no longer becomes a criteria.

There appears to be two ways to raise the interest level of a genre. The first way, I'm not too sure, perhaps it occurs naturally, or maybe it happens when nobody appeals in that category. The second, more tangible way, is to use your Memories appear. You can use up to 3 in a single audition (unless otherwise stated), and if you succeed, all three genre interest levels will be increased. Consequently, if you fail a memories appeal, all three level interests drop.

Memories appeal also lets you appeal to all three categories at once, possibly providing you with an edge in getting top 3 for all 3 categories simultaneously. The higher your tension, the easier it is to score a Memories appeal.

Depending on how strong your rivals are, you may want to fire one memories appeal off every single phase. Or you may wanna conserve them for later auditions.

************

And that's only the auditions. There are a lot of hidden rules to managing your idol unit well. For instance, if you don't want to suffer a decrease in your genre parameters, you should avoid the following:

-not pass an audition at least once in 5 weeks or more
-choose a song of the same genre as your previous one when producing a new single. This is the worst of the demerits, and the effect can only be recovered after 8 weeks.
-not producing a new single in more than 10 weeks
-fail an audition

If you do receive a demerit in your genre parameters through these means, you can recover them back by doing a lesson.

However, there is one sort of demerit that you cannot recover from, and that is the character's specific popularity-dropping period. Kinda difficult to explain, but each character will just start losing parameter points slowly upon reaching a certain stage.

Here, perfect communications guide: http://icomu-master.info/ A perfection communication during high-tension is worth 5 memories. Normal tension, 3 memories.

http://gsp.nobody.jp/imas360/index.html and http://idol.jp.land.to/index.php?IDOLM%40STER%20360%A1%F7wiki tells you which songs are affiliated with each characters (for a major boost in that genre) and has other useful information.

Do a search for IdolM@STER in the Japanese wikipedia for more detailed information on game mechanics.,

here's a link for that gamefaqs.com thread where someone is answering some questions about this great game:http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=934453&topic=33307446
as i said before, it's a shame that this game won't come out from Japan =P
BlimBlim, if you have any question about the game just make me know it, maybe i could help you

i've just watched that video, and i don't get the point in touching the girl in the tit, there's a lot of games in wich you have the chance of putting the cursor upon parts of the characters and they get upset, this ain't anything new. this might be funny for some people, and offensive to other, as well as annoying for others like me.

the gameplay is kinda curious, i don't think it sucks, it's just a simple game that mixes some elemets like: date sim + QTE + managing you idol like DOAX (clothes, accesories, gifts, letters,..)

the cell-shading is really pretty altough i think it could've been better, and i hope it gets still better and better in other games like Trusty Bell (aka Eternal Sonata)

BlimBlim, that video shows you the "promotion" part, you have some chances of getting the "tension-o-meter" up as well getting more hearts, so you to answer some questions and make some decisions, as well as sometimes you have to clean your idol's face, or wake her up, so you have to touche her "at the rite point", not the tit!!! lol, as you end up, you'll get rewarded if you've chosen the rite option in any of the questions, so if you choose the right answer in two questions but you touch her tit your tension meter will grow and you'll get some hearts, and she will be happy, or she seems that way.. but you will end up thinking.. i've touched her tit and she's happy.. wtf?

Yeah I understand that, but touching a 14 years old girl there should lead to the girl simply quitting, or at least getting back to 0 hearts. It's just totally wrong when you can still get a bonus after that...

i think you get bonus when you let your idol rest at least a day, or that's whay happened to me, i let her rest for one day and suddenly some days before when i was giving he a lesson (oh my, that sounds pretyy nasty!) a "bonus lesson" appeared.

anyway i think she should have sued him, lol

That's what this game seems to be all about though. :p

WTF, she actually likes the producer better after this? And she's only 14...
:|
Well she was saying she's scared of being groped on the train so she wants to improve her defense technique. She asks the producer to grope her to see how she can react, but in the end it seems she can't do anything because it's her producer.

Well, I finally got my copy and went with Chihaya. I don't know if its because of DCharlie or because I really would prefer to start with her. Things are going smooth for the most part. Really feels like princess maker or something. Still trying to get the hang of things on auditions and understanding image/appeal.

omg SEKUHARA SIMULATOR

Wow, I didn't realise that the auditions are ONLINE!
Other real people can join your auditions that you have as part of the regular game. Scary stuff! I assume this is how it works in the arcade too? So far my audition rankings have been 6th -> 6th -> 1st -> 2nd. Now I understand the scoring rules, it's just a matter of improving my strategy and technique.

Trust me to pick the girl who is absolutely impossible for beginners though (Ritsuko)! I couldn't resist her cute glasses :(

It seems to be premade people too. I'm currently playing with my 360 disconnected since my pc shares the same line and didn't feel like dc-ing the PC right now. I also finally got down auditions. But its still not helping me out in general. Idol level 6, it's almost the end of the year and I've produced 5 singles and cant go above that probably due to levels or ranking. Currently Rank E as well. Well, Chihayas my first try after all. Next time should be much better.. I found wikis to help me out XD BTW.. any of the jp folk here have a paypal account setup and willing to help a fellow gaf-fer out? By that I mean that I need jp marketplace points and if you don't mind the hassle, also trying to score that idolm@ster faceplate.

I think that real people can join the auditions but if there are not enough or you are disconenected, AI replaces the other players.

I saw a video of this game at Bic Camera the otherday. Seems like a quirky Japanese sim. The cell shading is nice in still pictures or for dialogue but it doesn't look as nice as hand drawn animation when there's lots of movement. Still it is impressive.

Yeah, being a big sim fan, I'm totally loving it. On other news, I finally finished my first idol. She was pretty much a failure, but as I said, it's my first time. I got the ability to run a duo now and decided to start with Chihaya again but this time also have Yukiho to pair up with. I'm loving the management aspects with mulitple girls.

Yeah, happens in the arcades too - check out the Game Life writeup on the arcade version.

Watching this really makes me want a next-gen Sakura Taisen. Sega could replace their LIPS system (or whatever it was called) with 3d models to better convey the character's emotions through better animations and facial expressions. The girl looked very nice when she was facing the camera, but problems with her model and some odd shadows appeared when she was seen from 3/4 perspective.

Hell, I'm still waiting for a better translation guide for ST Atsuki Chishio Ni...I know about the LIPS guides, but a more comprehensive FAQ would help me out a lot. :(

I was wondering why she apologized after the player felt her up.

Man this game is all kinds of messed...even for me!
Game looks amazing though, I'd like to see the engine being used for other games though(Eternal Sonata is a start, surprised Namco hasn't already done twenty Tales of games with this though)
