In retrospect, what a poor year for 3DS this has been. Of all my 10+ hours played, only two launched this year (Smash and Layton VS AA), with only 70 hours of playtime between the two.

For comparision, I had nearly 1000 hours of gametime in 2013, and 800 in 2012.

This is my least played 3DS year yet by 100 hours or so. Despite being my favorite game I've played across all systems this year, Persona Q hasn't got much playtime since I was trying to keep my 2014 backlog in the positives, which means focusing on games i can beat this year to make up the deficit. I expect to put in another 80 hours in the upcoming month or two.

I expected a very steep drop from 2013 (403:56), as it certainly felt as though I used my 3DS a lot less, but the final aggregate number drew quite close (400:12, not including whatever I add today). Then again, this year the activity was spread out over twelve months instead of six.

33 titles played. The top five are as follows:

1. Bravely Default (114:21)
2. Fire Emblem Awakening (63:42)
3. Super Smash Bros. (51:12)
4. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (45:10)
5. StreetPass Mii Plaza (14:30)

It goes without saying that Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing both contributed to a total that was already quite enormous this time last year. I played them both a lot less in 2014.

On another note, I only discovered the yearly page view feature today, which I had never come across in all the time I've spent in the Activity Log. The 3DS log continues to impress me with just how much more informative and functional it is compared to the one on Wii U.

Lego City Undercover and Super Smash Bros were both very close to knocking Rune Factory. Seems a lot of the games I played outside the top 5 this year were in the 15 hour range.

I really love the 3DS. Just for comparison, I invested 384:24 hours last year with 208:51 just going to New Leaf, 78:42 going to Pokémon Y and 29:38 hours going to Snake Eater 3D. I just normally play it while traveling, which I didn't get to do much this year. I intend to get out more in 2015, so let's see how that'll reflect on my 3DS stats next year!

Pokemon is so slow paced and rather non-interactive (a wonder trade takes at least a minute of you doing nothing and I did a few thousand this year...) so I play it while doing other things normally so the long play time is not indicative of that much.
