3ds durability.

I've had my 3DS repaired by NoE, and I still get scratch marks on my top screen.

I love my 3DS, and have no problem with the "lack of gamez". But I am very unhappy with the build quality of my unit. Whether the volume slider is too loose, the top screen is too wobbly, or if I am getting scratches on my top screen, the build quality is nowhere near that of the DSi, or DSi XL. Tis is where Nintendo slipped up to me. Give me a fool-proof unit, and it might be worth the money I paid for it.

One of the first things I immediately noticed about the system when I first picked it up at Best Buy was the seemingly die-cast casing and overall build quality. Not sure if some folks' disappointment with the functionality and software are clouding their judgment, but just by looking at it and holding it in your hands, you can easily tell the build quality is much better than DS Lite. Of course, nothing trumps the DS phat in my book. That was a lovely beast. The form factor of 3DS isn't my favorite of the bunch, but the build quality is impressive to me -- for a handheld gaming system by Nintendo, anyway. If you imagine the system about half the width, you can easily see how the case design is based almost entirely on GBA SP.

I honestly feel like Nintendo's handheld build quality has gone downhill since the first DS came out. I don't know if it's just a matter of the hardware becoming so much more complex or what, but GBA SP feels like it could survive most anything. DS phat wasn't bad, but some DS Lites could break their own hinge just from normal use, not to mention the problems with the shoulder buttons.

My 3DS feels pretty solid though, other than the bottom screen leaving lines on the top screen. It's never scratched it though, I've always been able to wipe them away. But I'm pretty careful not to drop it or anything.

The problem with 3DS is that if mine breaks, all my beautiful ambassador games are gone forever :(

...no.

Send it into Nintendo, they'll transfer all your software over--including your Ambassador games.
