3DS-GAF: What should I chose...

If you can only get one game of the bunch, I would pick Animal Crossing. Largely because it's still new and the GAF community is extremely active right now, and that's the most enjoyable way to play the game. You likely won't get this chance again, as the number of active players dwindle over the next few months. Otherwise, the rest are all fine picks except probably Castlevania.

If half the community pays any attention to your posts that is. Most just want to trade.

I mean Animal Crossing is a hell of a good time, but it's annoying when you're ignored because TURNIPS

My favorite games? Why, Super Mario 3DLand and Kid Icarus Uprising!

Fire Emblem Awakening is great for newcomers, but was slightly disappointing when compared to other games in the series. Fantastic presentation values, though.

I could not, for the life of me, keep interest in Luigi's Mansion. Every time I was playing it I liked it, but something about the mission structure just kept killing all of my momentum. Not a bad game, however. I can totally recommend it.

Also, get Pushmo. The end.

Huh, really? The thread moves fast so maybe you got buried? Wanna PM me the questions? If I know the answers I 'll let you know.

But back to the OP: the Fire Emblem community is still active, as well.

Yeah, I know. I hated pretty much everything about it.

Wait, he wouldn't go wrong with Castlevania, but he'd go wrong with Luigi's Mansion? Hand me your magical pipe, I wish to partake.

There was a Turnip thread made in Community to avoid that. Also, I always endeavor to ask questions when people answer them...

Eventually figured 'em out, so I'm good. Just didn't seem very friendly for someone who just got the game.

Maybe the answers were in the OP, sometimes questions will be ignored if there are asked repeatedly, especially if they are in the OP.

Not to hijack the thread: FE:A has DLC which really extends the game, too. You can easily put 100 hours in.

Oh, shit that crap box was buried in the list...missed it. My eyes hit LM and I ran to post.

The real answer is Kid Icarus, but since that's not an option: Fire Emblem Awakening is truly great.

You won't go wrong with any of them but Luigi's Mansion--truly terrible (I am the sole hater on the board I think).

You're not! Well hate's maybe a little strong but I found it boring past the half-way point.

I've only been able to play Fire Emblem so far but it is really freaking amazing (and I'd personally highly recommend playing in classic mode and not reloading saves to get the full experience). Literally couldn't put it down while I was playing it, played through it in about 3 days which took 30 hours or so, and I missed most out on most of the paralogues.

I've heard great things about Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, and Donkey Kong Country as well, of those I'm probably getting Luigi's Mansion next. Probably doesn't help you much since I haven't played them yet, sorry lol.

Luigi's Mansion if you want a great SP game.

AC if you want a game that you can put many hours into over a long span of time. Game is like crack, but you have to be into AC to love it.

I've never played an Animal Crossing game before but this game is like crack to me already.

OP, have you ever played an Animal Crossing before? I'm reluctant to recommend it to anyone who's never played one because it is such a divisive love-it-or-hate-it kind of game. I've sunk so many hours into it though, and it really is amazing how much there is to see and do. I have like an emotional connection with my town and being mayor only makes me want to watch it grow further.

I have a copy of Fire Emblem but I've yet to fire it up, so I can't really give you my opinion on that. I will say that DKCR3D and Luigi's Mansion both are amazingly creative games with brilliant level design.

SMT Soul Hackers, I got it a week after release and I'm still playing it. It's really nice for 1/1.5 hr short busts. Also the battle system is super rewarding.

I didn't like both GBA Fire Emblem's, they where just a complete bore for me(mostly because of the lack of challenge and the high unit count made battles really long). Is Fire Emblem Awakening still worth a shot? Since I see everybody raving about it.

I recommend Monster Hunter if you enjoy honing your skills and want some challenge. The learning curve is pretty steep but there's a really helpful GAF community. While the 3DS version only has local multiplayer, the single player is still totally worth it. It has so many monsters and weapon types that you can easily end up spending 100+ hours if the game grabs you. Each time you come across a new species, you are in for an exciting fight and each successfully downed monster will feel like a major accomplishment. Stay away from it if you like ''push A for awesome'' games.

I don't recommend getting Donkey Kong. The game has a ~30fps frame rate with frequent frame drops which makes controlling DK feel very imprecise.

I'm also not a fan of Fire Emblem. The main story is mediocre and losses steam halfway through. The combat can be painfully random and relies more on stats than actual strategy. The only thing I really liked were the characters which develop through support conversations. If you do end up picking up this game, choose casual mode which disables perma-death. Trust me, you will save yourself a lot of frustration this way.

Animal Crossing will probably give you the most playtime/fun as long as you take it day by day. I could also see Fire Emblem being worth it if you think you'll play it enough.

As someone who thought the GBA games were the weakest ones, yes. You can change difficulty from the start. Battles are still pretty long depending on the map, but you'll be thinking about every move. Also the 3DS lends itself much better to small doses than the GBA did.

Supports are handled way better and the new/revived systems they added that weren't in the GBA games are pretty engaging.

Fire Emblem. This comes from someone who has never played an SRPG before (well except this shaman king game for PS2).

It's the best game I've played on 3DS so far.

Well, I'm playing through Castlevania right now and finding it quite enjoyable. I know that GAF's majority opinion is quite negative towards it. I haven't really had any problems with the combat or framerate, but YMMV. My only knock against it is that it is quite short, so I'd say play the demo, and if you like it get it when it goes on sale.

Luigi and Fire Emblem are both solid choices, hard to go wrong either one.

I've been hopelessly addicted to my first Animal Crossing experience and I can't even begin to explain why but it gets my vote. It probably has something to do with my love of collecting things.

Fire Emblem Awakening easily. That game is absolutely loaded with content and replay value. It'll last a good while, and by the time you're completely done with it the upcoming 3DS games will be out (SMT, Pokemon, M&L4).

Thanks, but that doesn't sound too convincing. :\

Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion 2, Donkey Kong (to a degree, it's a bit odd at times), Animal Crossing all make the system worth it. And that's not including Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.
