Three months down... keeping up a decent pace. Not very varied though. Mostly my usual assortment of anglosaxon literature with some Swedish authors thrown in, need to fix that (even though Elena Ferrante made an apperance this month).

Movies continue to be the usual fare of Hollywood. Höstsonaten really stood out. Traumatic movie, doubt I want to relive it. And why does fanboyism keep letting me down, first Mad Max wasn't as grand as everybody said, then John Wick turns out to be underwhelming, and now Deadpool turns out to be just an adequate fun movie.

I've just finished reading the Destiny's Crucible Series and I'm looking for some new books to read.

Can you guys recommend some good "time travel" (scifi) books? Basically someone from our time displaced somewhere/sometime else, the time travel aspect isn't mandatory. No fantasy or romance books though, thanks. Oh and already read most of the ring of fire books.

I loved Chopping Mall, but I think my favorite of the month was a three way tie between Surf Ninjas, Airborne, and Body Parts.

I haven't seen Sleepwalkers yet. I'm trying to get the DVD.

It doesn't exactly qualify, but GRRM has a collection of short stories, called Tuf Voyaging. They're centered around an intergalactic space traveller that typically went around to different worlds, trying to fix their problems. Might be worth checking out

End of March/Beginning of April Update:
Ephidel - 00/50 Books | 32/50 Movies | 20 TV Shows

Still no books.

Movies
26. Two Years of Love (2016) ★★½ (05 Mar)
27. She's Gone (2004) ★★★½ (05 Mar)
28. Mechanics of Love (2017) ★★★ (18 Mar)
29. Love's Complicated (2016) ★★★½ (19 Mar)
30. Eyewitness (2017) ★★★½ (22 Mar)
31. Fatal Fiance (2016) ★★ (30 Mar)
32. A Dash of Love (2017) ★★★ (01 Apr)

As usual, not much to say about the movies.
A Dash of Love would have been better if (ending spoilers)
they hadn't just written off all the conflicts at the end going "and they're solved, and everyone lives happily ever after". I would actually have preferred it if they sped up the first bit of the film and gotten to the theft-of-ideas angle sooner and given it and the attempt to prove the recipes were really Nikki's some actual film time. It could have been interesting stuff, particularly seeing how people would respond to claims between a newbie and a respected member of the field. Instead they just throw that in and handwave it off with "I spoke to someone and even though I had no proof they believe you, they'll give you funding even though we've presented no business plan, and then they'll get a retraction printed on that story and everyone will magically forget they think you're a fraud!" at the end
.

TV Series
15. Stan Lee's Lucky Man - The Bracelet Chronicles ★★½ (14/03/17)
16. Conviction Season 1 ★★★½ (14/03/17 - 16/03/17)
17. Blindspot Season 1 ★★★ (13/03/17 - 21/03/17)
18. The Catch Season 1 ★★★ (16/03/17 - 22/03/17)
19. Timeless ★★★½ (14/12/16 - 29/03/17)
20. The Flash Season 1 ★★★ (24/03/17 - 30/03/17)
Okay, so calling Bracelet Chronicles a TV Series is a massive stretch when it's really a couple of specials, but definitely isn't a film and I wanted to include it somewhere so here it goes. The stories were actually quite good, as were the voiceovers. The "animation" (if you could call it that) let it down. Calling it half-arsed would probably be being overly generous, because it would assume they gave it any effort at all. I don't even believe it was a stylistic choice, I just think they couldn't be bothered to budget for actual movement.
I watched Conviction mainly for Atwell, but was surprised to find it was actually pretty good. I liked the cast, the investigations were interesting, they had quite a variety of cases, and I would have liked to see more but it seems like it's been cancelled, which sucks.
Blindspot's overarching plot is an interesting idea that's being used to prop up a more average show, but it kind of works. There are some things about it that bother me but I did like how things came together at the end. It's easy to watch and I probably like the ideas more than the execution, but I enjoyed it enough to watch the next series.
The Catch is a decent show with irritating lead characters. There are times when I like them and times when I loathe them and times when I think they're all idiots, but I keep watching so they must be doing something right. Adding in John Simm probably helped.
I liked Timeless a lot even though I feel it betrayed its premise by (entire series spoilers, I guess)
not having the changes made to the timeline really matter. Or rather, by not having them matter more. The events of the first episode changed the lead character's life enough to erase her sister from history, but all the other changes they made and NOTHING had a real noticed or significant impact? I can't help but feel like they missed out a bit there
. I do hope it doesn't get cancelled though. The way it ended means I'll be a bit annoyed if we don't get a second series.
I enjoyed The Flash. There's a lot wrong with it and I am trying very hard not to think about how much the season ender should have broken (you know, apart from absolutely everything), but it's fun viewing. I liked it more after they (spoilers about the way his secret identity is handled)
got over keeping it a secret. The "keeping secrets to protect people" thing irritates me. Don't tell the police about metahumans even though they'll have to deal with them. Don't tell the police about The Flash because I don't know just don't. Don't tell Eddie even though he's around us all the time. Don't tell Iris because it might put her in danger the way she isn't already the way she follows him around!. Eugh. I hate that stuff. They're all up to their elbows in danger anyway so it was better once people started knowing
.

I don't know how I haven't already but I've just heard about Kindle's "Word Runner".

I use a Paperwhite but it's not available on there so I downloaded the app on my iphone. Every source says it's available on this device but none of my books seem to show the option. Any clue?

Cool, I made the bottom of the Book Worms category :)

I also use a Paperwhite and iOS but I would try Word Runner if it was available there.

The long march through the Wheel of Time continues. I'm told by a friend who's farther in than me, and saw in the Wheel of Time threads this past week or so, that I'm about to enter a major slog for a few books, so I expect reading output to suffer for the next few months while I push through. If I had a braid, I'd give it a sharp tug

Yo mods!

Any words to when that bloke GK86 might resurface or did you throw away the key?

Also, if noone else feels like it I can summerize this month next weekend. (Which gives people some room to post their updates.)
