You really think they can charge you a completely different price than you agreed? Seriously?

Yes. They can just cancel your order and all you can really do is whine about it.

I love how people have a double standard where they get all huffy about people who steal, but then immediately jump on "discounts" they know to be some kind of mistake, which is basically the same thing.

Really shitty of the company to do this. They are losing out on alot of goodwill and money. They had to be making some serious money on this deal even after 50% off.

I understand them doing it, but yeah, I was just laughing today how I was going to become a Timberland for life guy if I liked the shoes as my entire inventory other than tennis shoes would be Timberland for the next 5-10 years after my order (Dress Shoes / Boots / Driving Shoes / Slippers).

Well, this was the one time I was ever going to actually buy something from Timberland, so they lost my money forever. The jacket and gloves did look nice though. I won't ever buy anything from them at full price as there are nicer options in the price range they ask.

Not sure if I can pull the trigger on these. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Definitely not going to get them now, but I'm still curious if anyone else would wear these.

So you never planned on buying something from them until the discount was posted. And now you vow to never buy from them forever?

You took a no risk gamble and it didn't pay off. No need to get bothered by it.

Almost everyone who did this (at least within this thread) knew it was an error and did it anyways. And then you have the nerve to gripe about the company? Really now?

I'm not really bothered about it. It's just a bad business move on their part. I knew going in there was a good chance of a cancellation.

No? You should reread what I said. I was referring to the absurd fear of them charging you full price instead of canceling

Bad business? Are you drunk?

Most of the people ordering this stuff would have never ordered from Timberland. Even after 50% off they were still making money as clothes have atleast 200-300% markup usually.

Nothing about this is bad for business. I'm not sure what your made up profit margins have to do with anything.

If they were looking to do that they'd just offer a 50% off coupon like dominos does every month or whatever % off the Gap does every month. They view themselves as a premium brand and it's not good for a premium brand to be offering huge discounts.

Never would have bought any Timberland stuff without the discount. Seemed worth a try. I probably never will unless there is a crazy sale.

For the real prices they wouldn't be my first choice.

We need a hash tag

Brand-name clothing means big-time retail markups. A study of French clothing franchises found that the average markup on clothing was 250 percent and 350 percent for accessories [source: Australian Trade Commission].

Jeans are prime targets for markups, whether they're cheap or expensive. For example, a $21.99 pair of jeans from Kohl's still has a 112 percent markup from wholesale, while a $300 pair of designer jeans from True Religion can boast a markup as steep as 300 percent over cost [source: National Labor Committee and Leder].

Are some of you really getting angry over this? It was can error.

The discount was clear marked as an "Employee Discount" promo code at checkout.

Get over it.

Hmm.. My 25 dollar house shoes order hasn't been cancelled. Maybe they are just hitting big dollar orders. We'll see.

Are they not sending emails confirming orders were cancelled?

My credit card company has been charged.

I'm not angry about my order being cancelled. I'm a little upset of not being notified about it being cancelled and the money still being gone from my account.

When there was that issue with the Walmart website, any orders that weren't upheld were given email notification about the 'issue' and were told that their order was cancelled and refunds would be processed if 24 to 48 hours if they weren't already.

Pretty bummed they cancelled it but oh well...had a nice haul lined up.

You sure about this? Mine's just an authorization which won't actually clear. If it's a credit card how is any money really gone from your account...

I'm a bit surprised that they are cancelling orders but it's also understandable. Oh well, I'll put that $100 towards something else that I don't need.

I think the code was already on the internet for at least 9 hours or more when the OP made the thread, so you were cutting it pretty close anyway.

HA! They emailed me a code for 10% off. Going from 50% to 10% seems like such a great deal.

yes i know the 50% was not legit and immoral.

Damn I was thinking about jumping on this deal, but with all of these cancellations it's good I didn't pulled the trigger.

I'm in need for some brand new tims.

Sorry to hear about the cancellations, I almost pulled the trigger when I saw the first post a few days ago but decided against it. I really need to get a winter coat before I leave the country (and live in an environment that has seasons rather than the Florida weather).
