500+ hour Metal Gear marathon on Twitch started today

This is worse than Spider-Man 3.

Oh there's some supernatural bullshit alright, but as you said, it's relative to the rest of the series.

and despite these things, Solid Snake remains a sort of an unfettered constant in the game, and Twin Snakes subverts his character.

*shrug*

The whole series is a mountain of cheese.

It is now. It really started with 2.

MGS1's team with Kojima was hailed for doing advanced weapons and military research. It was interesting because it was a regular veteran soldier being dropped on a godforsaken island against a team of freaks and specialists. Solid Snake isn't a cyber ninja. He shouldn't be kicking a rocket back at a Hind D.

I like how this scene is so tense and suspenseful, even in this version... and then suddenly fast rigid camera panning to reveal Snake on the ceiling like a scene from The Matrix.

By 2 you surely mean MG2: Solid Snake where you fight a space ninja astronaut, an olympic runner, and one of your allies is an ice skater.

I won't pretend to know anything about MG before Solid. I just think it's pretty clear that MGS1 is way more grounded than anything that comes after it. I think that's part of its charm.

Sure. Even the Metal Gear has a SOMEWHAT practical application with the Rail Gun. It does still have Psycho Mantis though who goes beyond mind reading into straight up throwing energy balls at you.

Pretty sure that there is a codec explaining why Raiden is able to recover blood and life when he crouches or lays down. It has to do with his Skull Suit or artificial blood. But in Twin Snakes it appears to just be a game mechanic.

Am I crazy or does this look a little worse than mgs2?

Especially the character models. There's simply no finesse or attention to detail here. It looks so warped. The characters literally look like geese.

Honestly most things about this sucks, but the music and voice acting (and the loss of accents) are the worst to me by far.

It also removed a lot of the mood that Shadow Moses had in the original as a derelict environment. On Twin Snakes everything looks so clean and pristine.

Acting, music, atmosphere, everything was completely ruined. The first time I saw the new Sniper Wolf death scene I was playing with friends over and we all stopped there for the evening and agreed to get plastered.

It has to be tiring to bitch about something this much lol. Been popping in and out and every time I tune in he's actively complaining about something.

I've never understood how it's so hard to look at Twin Snakes as its own silly little spin-off, MGS through the insane filter of the "Versus" guy. (And really, it isn't that much more insane or silly than 2 and 3.)

Pretty much.

The fact that they removed "Enclosure" is an unforgivable sin in my book.

EDIT: And there goes Ocelot... Fucking MGS2 mechanics in a game that should not have them...
