Like Kojima himself said, don't obsess over words so much. The emotional payoffs with MGS4 still make the game great, at least for me.

MGS4 has story problems imo but that microwave hallway isn't one of them. It's actually a pretty neat torture substitute. 3 of the games have electrified hallways so an electrified corridor isn't much of a stretch.

I like all the other COBRA members. Especially the Fury who is just ridiculous and death metal personified. Whoever voice acted the Fury is a badass.

I've been playing Ground Zeroes to try to 100% it before TPP while I watch/listen to the stream, and occasionally the various noises end up freaking me out.

Volgin is the worst Villain. This guy spills out all his secrets for no reason. Snake doesn't even know what the hell was the Philosopher's legacy in the torture scene. This guy blabs out everything about it. It's pretty funny.

disagree, he's perfect for what they're trying to Achieve in 3. I don't think people understand the tone of MGS3... Nor do they understand how much the voice hints of Character Development in MGS4.

even in Peacewalker, I could justify it. Peace walker is supposed to be the beginning of the turn for Big Boss. He's supposed to be evil.
Now, looking back at it, with adding ground zeroes and phantom pain, it makes no sense. But at the time, to me, it makes perfect sense for Big Boss to stop being naive, and start becoming "Cobra Commander", for lack of a better analogy.
The issue with Hayter in MGS4 and PW isn't the sound of his voice (okay maybe it is in PW to an extent because you can clearly tell Hayter is struggling to hit even the same tone as MGS3 which is supposed to be the same character), it's the voice direction and lack of any real emotion put into the acting. It all falls very flat most of the time, especially in mission briefings (see: the exchange between Snake and Raiden before Act 4 -- terribly delivered lines that is supposed to be for an emotional moment between the two characters).
There is actual emotion behind the voice in MGS1-3 -- 4, PO, and PW lack any real emotion and... acting.

He sounded a bit overdone, if that makes any sense. It's still fine when Snake speaks low.
With Peace Walker the gruffness just became weird for a man of BB's age. It was as if he'll turn into a werewolf any moment now. The change in voice is a bit too much for just 10 years between MGS3 and Peace Walker.
