500+ hour Metal Gear marathon on Twitch started today

I really enjoy watching the first two acts of MGS4, wish the game was more like the first two acts later on as well but... oh well. :(

How is the MGS4 run? Lots of cool easter eggs and optional codecs? Haven't been able to watch any of it. Also, that promo is pretty hype.

Edit: And someone please give me a link if you know what that "trailer" with every name replaced with konami was!

I tuned in and was played like a damn fiddle:

He played MGS1 yesterday.

And he did MGS2 during the first run while Threedogg did MGS4. It's pretty much balanced out.

Also - there are no words for how much I hate all the Johnny / poop "jokes". It is so incredibly bad.

Drk29 makes a good point on that. It always urked me that Snake uses a knife for CQC when in MGS2 he said he's not a fan of blades.

Edit: Yes DRK feels the same way as I do!!! People don't care for supernatural in MGS3, but bitch about MGS2.

I noticed that DRK29 does playthroughs of the worst MGS games. MGS Twin Snakes and MGS4.
It depends on the scheduling. I've seen him play MGS2 a few times (it's easy to tell when he plays MGS2 when the Emma segment ends up taking an hour, lol).
I feel like DRK comes across as angry or annoyed with the games a lot of the time. Just me?

He's the grumpy old man of the group, though he wouldn't be the only one to have criticisms of MGS4- I think it was uKnighted that had a huge speech about what they did to Raiden in 4 this one time.

Is Drk really listening to all these Rose codecs? x_x

Edit: Oh that was actually one I hadn't heard. Huh. Usually they never bother with MGS4's codec calls because of how annoying they are to trigger.

lmao those shots fired.

Hahahaa "If we stand up they'll hit us" *stands up, gets punched* "WE GOT 'EM! GO GO GO!"

Oh man this music is making it all the better

Why does MGS4 have so many guns, serious question

My guess is that they were trying to appeal to people who were used to more actiony shooters and so gave them an abundance of guns to use and everything. Just so they could play it without stealth, I guess.

Either that or they modeled a bunch of guns anyway and just decided to give the player access to them via Drebin. Not sure of the actual reasoning. They're certainly no more fun than using the tranq or Mosin-nagant (sp?)

This is probably part of it. I just looked at a list of guns and a lot of them exist because a non-playable character used it at some point or was a reference to another game.

Yep, even going as far as adding the 5-7 which was Snake's pistol in Ghost Babel. The series has always payed attention to real-life firearms and probably knew guys like me who always loved that aspect of the franchise.

I've played these games more times than I can remember over the years and I'm amazed at all the stuff I never knew was in there. Even the MGS1 runs had codec conversations I've never heard before.

MGS1 name, MGS3 emotions, MGS2 equipment. Yeah BBs are extremely bland.

It really doesn't help that they regurgitate a lot of stuff in those battles, and a lot of the new stuff they bring to the table is laughably easy to avoid (jumping on a bed to avoid Octopus' rolling attack being the biggest offender). I think only Crying Wolf deserves to be called a good boss, because that at least had a decent challenge to it (minus the exploit) and finally gave us the answer to what would happen if we had to fight The End and the Ocelot Unit at the same time.
