My concern was always the GPU, and now that this problem will be resolved in the Jasper model, there is nothing stopping me from buying it.

If someone buys this and says that it is under 175 watts, I will buy this console tomorrow. Especially because I want to start/finish up Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon before Tales of Vesperia is released at the end of August.

Less chance of RRoD compared to older model and HDMI. Falcon has 65nm CPU + better HS. Jaspser is suppsed to add 65nm GPU using less power and producing less heat. Should lead to a much more reliable console if MS does not fuck it up lol.

I will get either the new 60 gig pro or wait for a jasper elite to replace my older model. I am waiting for a real price drop after the 20gig units are cleared out of the channel.

Falcon RROD considerably less. Jasper's not out yet, but supposedly has an even cooler design. I don't think you could even buy a new older model 360 these days, though.

My Concern is the GPU, which overheated in the old models. I heard that it was so bad that the GPU would actually separate from the motherboard. This led to the reliability problems that was a thorn in Microsoft's side.

Thankfully with this new chipset that has a smaller and cooler GPU, the problems will finally be gone forever. Hell, even the falcon is pretty reliable, I just wanted to be on the safe side.

Quieter, less power draw, lower heat output, presumably higher reliability, lower weight (I'm pretty the power bricks have become lighter compared to what it was like for the launch units).

Well someone from GAF was one of the first to crack open the falcons (Wonderkins maybe IIRC). Whoever that was that checked out the Falcons first did actually get their name all over the internet. :lol Hopefully someone will get their hands on one of these.

Can't wait to see what it looks like when someone does crack one of these. Given the lead-time for manufacturing for the holidays, wouldn't it be likely to be Jasper? To get experience with manufacturing the new board before transitioning all models over?

Given that the reliability is way up, whichever one of you guinea pigs does do it shouldn't give a passing nod to concerns about a warranty. Do it; you know you want to . Any of you fence-sitters, Dead Rising beckons.

It is tied to your Xbox Live account, you don't get charged for redownloading stuff.
