8-4 Play 3/22/2013: COOL AS ICE

Dear Podcasters,
Whenever somebody makes a good segue, STOP POINTING OUT HOW GREAT A SEGUE IT WAS. It completely undermines the whole point of the great segue in the first place, and it's really not at all impressive enough to bother commenting on anyway.
Thanks,

Excellent segue into talking about not talking about good segues!

Listen to...oh I don't know...every 8-4 podcast from the last 6 months. They talk about Monster Hunter a fuck ton. It's lessened of late, but there were a couple shows where they got really deep into it.

As for you 8-4 guys, I'm calling BS on your claim about the $10 credits offered to select PSN users. First regarding the "everyone got one the first time," which clearly is not the case. I sure as hell didn't get one. And the claim that the second credit was given to the most active PSN users - I can't imagine many people being more active than myself and once again I received nothing. I don't want to sound whiney about it, just trying to say I don't believe you guys were right about that stuff.
I'll throw my support here. I did not get the initial ten. I am very active on pan and did not get the second ten.

:(
How have I sinned, Gaming Jesus?

Monster Hunter talk was great in so far as that as someone who only has a 3DS who had to move away from 3DS gaming friends for work means that I'd be playing on my own.

I still really want to play it [almost bought it off the eshop while listening] but between what I already have to play [Starcraft & Bioshock next week] and it not being half as good/approachable on your own, I'm going to hold off.

I came into the thread just to make this comment. Has irritated me since i started listening to podcasts

Mark keeps referring to the PS4 as PS3. If he can't get it right how is Joe-schmo going to?That just goes to show that Sony totally dropped the ball with the name. Plus they're launching an underpowered system with a gimmicky controller. Clearly no one is going to want that.

Mark should probably check how to pronounce the surnames of the guests before the start of the podcast. Especially considering they work for him! Gold.

I miss Brendon :(

JJ's "How To Make One Game" comment when Mark said SWERY was having a GDC lecture was hilarious.

Also never understood the "JJ and John have the same voice" thing. They're pretty distinct to me - especially the way they talk.

Phil Fish's twitter feed over the last day or so might give a good impression of why Fez is probably not going to be released on 3DS :p

How cool is your podcast?

So cool

No lie, for a friends birthday I gave them a laminated Cool As Ice poster. It's damn big, always on his wall, and very much hated by his wife. She doesn't understand why we think it's amazing.

New guys fitting in nicely.

Have yall listened to this show before?

This is the Kevin that fell asleep driving. 100% OK and I blame it more on jetlag upon my return from Tokyo.

Hope that peanut butter lasted Mark more than a week! :)

Did it seem super obvious to anyone else when the CG thing was mentioned that Mark did not want to talk about it as if they were avoiding it? Or just me being paranoid?

Also great podcast but definitely miss Brendan. Hope he gets a chance to guest star every few casts.

Or it could be because the CG stuff is stupid internet conspiracy garbage. The gaming equivalent of Elvis still being alive somewhere.

Man this CG stuff has gotten everyone so hostile.

On another note, I was sad about the lack of MonHun talk but I guess I can wait for the episode extravaganza for 4.

Thought it was you, glad you're okay! That's my biggest fear when I'm driving, though luckily it hasn't ever happened.

I didn't mean to come off as harsh, but just look at the crazy that is the CG thread. It's 99% tongue in cheek (I hope) but MGS really brings out the dumb.

Listened to poscasts since the start of 1upyours and they were always acknowledging their segues as well. Was funny a couple of times in the beginning, but now it's grating

(It's not only 8-4, but most of the "non-proffessional" podcasts I listen to)

Oh, yeah - Bitsummit doesn't have a GDC-esque vault, does it? Although if it does I suspect they might not all have translations, but I'd like to at least hear the Valve talk. I am increasingly interested in the PC market in Japan and especially on Developer views on it.

I don't remember his name off the top of my head

but I support the DMC fan joining the regular cast 100%

Needs to be there when Uncle Dante returns to represent the hype

Only an hour in, but I'm liking these interns, especially the British chap (sorry, I suck with names). Please bring them on more!

Is it common for people involved with a game to coax writers through a game while they are writing a review?

I imagine it's unavoidable with games with a significant online aspect, but there is a difference between playing developers at death-match before the game goes live, and having a Monster Hunter expert tell you how to best enjoy the game and pour honey into your ears.
