8-4 Play 6/21/2013: THERE AND BACK AGAIN

Too bad they didn't wait until after Xbox 180.

Yeah, it says "Microsoft Reversal" in the time notes.

------------

"Can we get over this Nintendo stuff? There's so much juicy stuff to talk about, this was a good E3"...

*Moves on to talk about his stuff and personal stories.

I sense that with the GiantBomb guys not playing games anymore 8-4 should be the number 1 podcast and Player One the number 2 podcast. Bombcast still in the third place.

Ugh. Haven't listened yet, but I hate that.

I think I'd literally do something bad to have the old Joystiq podcast back.

Still not done with the podcast, but I loved the backstage peek into the Indie 8 presentation. It came so close to going horribly wrong. At least for Jake.

I love to love you baby.

So nice to hear some logic up in that Nintendo discussion. The part about them announcing stuff in previous Nintendo Directs was spot on.

Well, I think part of it is, since these games are not being improved by HD that much, why bother at all? Clearly the bigger budget remakes would end up with a game so markedly improved over the original version that it could spur a lot more sales. Or do you not buy into that argument? Look at the DQ remakes in Japan, they're usually a pretty big deal, and time and time again, they sell around 1 million copies or more.
WWHD seems like a pretty easy remake, only texture assets and the lighting model are actually being remade, plus the tweaks to sailing/triforce hunt for pacing reasons. Which is fine, it's just a bonus to squeeze out while the core Zelda team concentrates on the next real game. I still wouldn't be surprised if it was farmed out to Grezzo either.

Worldwide, WWHD will obviously outsell every DQ remake ever made. Like OOT3D has. And like MM3D probably will too. ;)

The non-performance out of William Dafoe bit had me cracking up, its true - he was extremely wooden in that bit they showed.

lmfao the David Cage hate is gold. Nice to see someone finally say it.

I don't see why the finishing statistic is doubted though. Seems very believable and it was a goal of the game.

again, I agree with the 8-4 guys, Killer Instinct isn't exciting. Who asked for it? Stale game.

edit: right on as Ryse. It looks like a QTE. love the remarks about taking the game out of the game, it's worrying. Game looks nice but it doesn't look fun. at all.

Why did I think of the DK rap with the eps title?

Because the DK rap was about as good as the first Hobbit movie (and likely the next ones one as well)?

Great episode as always, hearing about FF XIV actually made me interested in an MMO for the first time in a looooong long time.

Do you seriously think not a single person working on Watch Dogs has heard of his game? That's considerably harder to believe than that they have.

I highly doubt it, but if they are, to think they're ripping of a thing with cameras in a game almost entirely about cameras? Ridiculous.

That's far more general a description than what he's referring to. The gameplay shown was identical to his game, and I've never seen another game do that, outside of an early cancelled PS3 voice controlled game which has a name that escapes me. He didn't even say he thinks they ripped him off, he said he had that gut reaction when seeing it.

Ryan Payton is kind of people person that even if his game suck, he can easily find a community/PR job in the industry, I don't know why you are shitting on him.

Uuuuh who is the guy who said the FFXIV frame rate is great on PS3? i played the beta earlier and the frame rate is all over the place. Definitely not solid.

Ryse will have a non-QTE mode. The button prompts will be gone and it will be up to the player to pick which move happens. That makes Ryse much more appealing for me.

Haven't heard this yet. If it's anything like the final 30 minutes of the last episode, I'm so there.

For a podcast with a disclaimer of be corrupt, you guys were the only frank guys in town.
