I can't get over the fact how the worst (subjectively, I admit) in everything from clothing, hair, clothes to accessories came together in such a spectacular fashion in every walk of life from yuppies to college crowd to teens.

If you wanted to go out clubbing or partying, make sure you have plenty of Satin

Okay, admittedly this is not the worst pic in this thread and never will be. Michael Douglas pulls it off like a smooth pro. But man, that tie and tweed slacks...

More corporate America from the 80's

Of course the women didn't fare any better

So yea, I am not sure what went wrong in the 1980s. I'm not sure if there are enough 80's kids here to relate to this thread. But I wanted a place to discuss 80s fashion and maybe understand why we had the need to be so flamboyant in everything. More pics will always help...

This is one of the best fashion photos i've ever seen.

Just bought a neon pink and green Jam's World windbreaker, and a T&C Surf tanktop. Looking for some dope British Knights to complete the look.

I grew up in the 80s and didn't wear anything like the stuff in the OP.
I don't recall wearing fluroescent anything or pastel anything but I was kid/teen and not trying to be uber trendy.

Not everyone used to look like a stereotype.

except this guy

I see nothing wrong with the 80s fashion, hopefully it will make a comeback.
Not the hairstyles though... They went too far!

Ah yes, the decade taste forgot.

There aren't enough mullets in the OP.

Actually I think a lot of the tailored stuff (think Robert Palmer) and casual stuff was dope. But women had it worse than dudes in that decade. The 90s inverted that.

Anyway the 80s was the best decade by far. All of the best movies were 80s movies.

80s fashion was pretty good.It wasn't shaped so much by the youth, which gave it an air of maturity. It still has some bad spots, but it's much better than the amalgam of misinterpreted culture we have today.

I actually prefer women's fashion in the 80's than the 90s, the early 90s were ok though.

80s fashion sucked for the regular person. It was the alternative fashion where the 80s shined. Shit like New Romantics, Goth, Punk, New Wave, Hip-hop.

Average joe and yuppie fashion was disgusting looking. A lot of general rock-style fashion was trash too. White T-shirt and a mullet? Garbage. Anything with a mullet that wasn't properly styled. Gross.

I love 80's fashion but like most eras it mostly boring and ugly.

80s had some low points but nothing beats the 70s

Yeah at least 80's fashion was an improvement over the 70's.

So much pastel.

And as someone born in the early 80's I have the OP's comments offensive. I wish I was old enough in that decade to wear some of those crazy clothes.

So much Queen Latifah and Salt N Pepa up in this thread.

Not enough. We must go deeper.

Also, I wore parachute pants and I'm not afraid to admit it. And Bart Simpson shirts.

I was a super-nerd :(
