9 Years Later - You can actually select Master Hand in Melee

I knew you could play as him using deboug codes using an AR or something (and it's fun playing as the hand) but I didn't know there was a way to use him without an AR or other cheat source.
Thats the second gametrailers myth thing that I've not known (mario flagpole jump was the other)
I did expect this series to be a bunch of 'mind blowing' facts that all 'hard core' gamers knew and a bunch of myths which were obvious myths but I am surprised. I look forward to the next one.

I asked for a Gamecube for Christmas during the holiday when the Xbox and Gamecube were first released. I remember a specific moment after coming back from the Holiday Break in my middle school gym. All the kids were discussing the game systems they had received for Christmas. One kid came up to me and asked me what I had received, I replied "A Gamecube". He then responded with a loud and boisterous 'HAH, A GAYCUBE". Everyone laughed at me because they all had received an Xbox or a PS2 and the Gamecube were for 'little kids'.

I was 13 then. I still love my Gamecube.

I got weirder reactions than that when I opted to by a used Dreamcast (I was a cheap ass) instead of any of the three systems. And then those fuckers played Soul Calibur and were blown away by how awesome it was.

Unrelated to op but cool story - later I bought a Cube and Smash Bros, and literally later that daymy dad came home from work and said his boss was giving out workers a Ps2 or Xbox because he cancelled a project they had been working extra hours on (on a salary). One of my Dad's coworkers didn't want either, and I ended up with a ps2 and Xbox the next day. Those were a great two days.

Gamecube dismissal was PERVASIVE in society. I travelled in many different circles, and Nintendo had a "this is obviously for kids" vibe in many places of North America (at least), during 2001-2006. Which is funny because Cube software was wonderful (rather hardcore and graphically powerful) and pulled me back into Nintendo after, ironically, thinking N64 was a bit of a kiddy console, in my teen years.

I remember telling this one friend about Resident Evil 4 just after launch, it was still only on Cube (well, timed exclusive anyway).

"Gamecube? But.... isn't that for kids???" He was literally stunned... as if someone had told him they had a Playmobil playset. I guess the look of the cube just said "FOR KIDS" to the average westerner.

Ironically this same person probably owns a Wii now, which is basically a Gamecube that lets you wave a toy wand around and play simple minigames. It's adult now.

Why not throw in the Banjo-Kazooie Ice key while we're at it? :D

anyone wanna pm me that first song?
i know ive heard it before, from fire emblem if im not mistaken. Or just post in the thread. Thanks :)

edit: found it myself

Together We Ride

Songs like this make me think that there is some sort of objective scale by which we can measure the quality of video game music. Songs like Wily Stage in Megaman 2 or To Zanarkand in FFX are songs that I think just about everyone would like regardless of whether they played the game. Its nice to know that some of your fondest video game songs are widely loved, and that there are others out there that you will come to love if you take the time to find them

the most fun thing is that the Gamecube has had the greatest revenge a system could ever pull off on the industry.

GC: "oh, so these guys mock me and ridicule me as a toy? let's destroy this whole industry then as payback!!!"
*GC straps add-ons on itself and becomes a Wii*
Wii: "welcome to prime time bitches!"

I had no idea you could jump over the flagpole in SMB1, thought that was only in SMB2J. Now my mind's blown.

Obviously didn't play enough Super Mario back in the day. I'm surprised people didn't come across that just from playing the game, honestly.

HOLY CRAP

No seriously. WHAT THE WHTAHAHAHYSG :lol :lol :lol

That's amazing. I put so many hours into Melee back then, and this blows my mind.

First Episode of this is bullshit. I've reached the Chris Room just by running as fast as you can w/o the bomb blast thing. I think you have to do it before a certain point in the game. I did it immediately after getting the boots.

Neat, but what about Crazy Hand?
it only works because Master Hand is the first character listed in the code, or something

I am pretty sure I read about this "code" from Games Master back in 2003 or something :__O

which reminds me of...

... and Games Master saying that they have "Lara Croft nude pics" but Eidos said that if they don't release them they get the first hands on info of Tomb Raider 4 :lol :lol :lol
