Nintendo 64, Pokemon and the Attitude Era say you are WRONG.

90s are too good.
N64 paled in comparison to my pc, pokemon never mattered to me and was always for children. The late 90s were just bad music, bad fashion but some redeeming games sure.

Come on save, the "Techno" days where funny as hell. And Loveparada 1998 was actually a pretty good song. ;)

Kids today will just feel differently. They will never know what it's like to go to a video rental place and pick up a game for the weekend. That was the most magical feeling.

That looks amazing

Oh, yeah.

Personally, I liked what the PS1 had more reliably than the N64 (not that I didn't have good times with that!), I was at the right age to be an idiot about Pokemon once it got REALLY popular, and never cared for wrestling.

Still, I'm fond of that period BECAUSE of the PS1, I liked the Saturn, and both of those are tied with anime catching on more in the US and being at a point where a mix of novelty, age, and the fact we didn't see the moe boom really made it appealing to me. Plus we had South Park debut.

Well, anyone that was, say, 8 in 2002 is now 18, so we've got plenty of adults and older teenagers to ask.

I'm strongly nostalgic for 80s/90s stuff, but it does feel like the 2000s had less of a distinct identity. Just feels like a continuation of late 90s, though that may make the 85-95 as a decade angle relevant here: 1995-2005 as a decade, and maybe 2005-2015 as a decade, 2007 WAS when the iPhone hit and that's been a defining moment for the decade.

When it comes to childhood memories, everything is from the '90s for me.

There was really nothing from 2000-2005 that I can fondly remember except for the PS2 (and having friends come over to play on the PS2). A few albums like The Killers' "Hot Fuss", but outside of that, I don't have a nostalgic feeling about that period. 9/11 started the decade off terribly. The last half (2005-2010) was pretty fun though. While I won't look back on it like I did the '90s, the last half of the '00s were definitely better/more memorable than the first half of the '00s imo.

I also agree that the '00s didn't really have an identity like the '90s had. Also, Kids TV during he '90s was WAY WAY better than the '00s and had significantly more variety. Really feel kind of bad for kids who grew up during the '00s.

In the other video done by the same guy he mentions a show where the actor committed suicide. I remembered his face the moment I saw him but can't think of what that show was called.

East Coast Canadians have a store called Pizza Pizza. Out West though we do have Little Caesars.

Nine six seven, eleven eleven. Phone Pizza Pizza, hey hey hey hey!
When did the franchise close?

R.I.P Godfather's pizza

also i like how they had the Vanilla Ice's "Go Ninja" song bumping in the background.

Funky Bunch Mark. W is the best Mark W.

Dammit, now I have that tune stuck in my head. >_<

We still have lots of them in Toronto!

We only have 2 left here sadly. Used to have more but the others closed down. I'll never forget the one that used to be located by my high school. $2.50 for two slices of pizza and a pop meant they got a huge number of people from the school stopping in every day for lunch.

Was that ever in question? You know how awesome these times where whe even todays kids get jelly when you talk about it.
Some people talk to me about how they feel old in their 20s. Me too sometimes but when I think about it I wouldn't even want to be a kid again. I'd rather go back in time and live through the 90s again in my current age. :(

Dude... YES. That's what I would want to do, too. That would be so far out. I'm playing Dragon Quest V right now, and I just wish I could have enjoyed this on the real console, with a small TV with an RF switch. (given, I'd have to have imported it) but you know what I mean. I miss:

1. 1 phone in the house. (the phone)
2. Cable Boxes
3. Cassette Tapes and oversized CD players
4. Portable CD players
5. Good Nickelodeon.
6. Pizza Hut being a real restaurant.
7. Arcades
8. Video Rental Stores.
9. VHS
10. Good Cincinnati Reds
11. Charlotte Hornets!!!
12. New Wave of R&B Pop (Boyz II Men)
13. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
14. Vibrant shopping malls
15. Early 90's Alternative music
16. 90's Taco Bell style
17. Snapback hats!
18. Gameboy and Game Gear.
19. Early 90's Wrestling
20. Saturday Morning Cartoons
21. Cereal with TOYS in it.
22. Lively Middle America.
23. College Basketball being KING.
24. Little Moe with the Gimpy Leg
25. Cheeks
26. Boney Bob
27. Cliff

I could go on forever, baby!

Wait...they don't pack toys into cereal boxes anymore? Since I don't buy cereal that often, I guess I just never noticed.

That's horrible!

I'd like a day trip to the 90s but not live there. I'd like to go to the arcades and waste all my money, watch decent Saturday morning TV and try snacks from yesteryear I have forgotten. My 8 year old self would faint if I showed hi, the future, the internet, the internet and online speeds, netflix, comics in my library. As nostalgic as I get about the 90s there's a lot that was worst back then.

Pineapple is the Root of all evil

Pineapple with pep or Pineapple with sausage.

Incredibly underrated combo of toppings

Also on the whole 90's thing really the last great, unique decade.

I can't think of anything from the 2000's that's really a staple. It just sort of ran out there i think and now were just harkening back to earlier decades, and not really creating unique decades with their own cultures and customs

96-99 shouldn't be dismissed.

The wow factor of gaming moving to 3d, not likely to be matched in our lifetimes. Twisted Metal 2 and Mario 64. Dreamcast had a great launch.
The rise of cable tv.
The internet before the internet is for porn.

Things were starting to accelerate and splinter but still a more or less common culture. That is the best part of nostalgia. Sharing memories vs. just the rose colored glasses.
Although I have an urge to defend GoldenEye when it is said to of aged poorly today. The game is just more my style and it seems like they ditched trying to make a better GoldenEye long ago in favor of KILL-BOT Factory

Same here I was 11. 00s has absolutely nothing on the 80s or 90s. It doesn't seem to have a cultural identity at all. When you say 80s you immediately think of something particularly the fashion and music, kid shows that weren't animated and would be banned these days for being too violent, same with 90s.

With 00s you think of fucking google, iraq and TSA. Terrible decade. And it's going to get worse once we have internet in our heads and all people will do is stare at the ceiling and have conversations with people 100 miles away without ever opening their mouths. It's going to be sad.

Pretty much, I feel sorry for anyone growing up in the 00's.

What.The.Shit.

There's not even any April, even a man in drag would've sufficed.

While I loved the pizza hut video, the dear 90s video was pretty eye rolling to me.
Maybe because I've read it in some form about a thousand times on tumblr and a lot of it boils down to "I miss being younger"

I always have a soft spot for anything dealing with nostalgia, but I agree everyone will always think their decade as a kid was the best. That's why I raised the question though... is it worse now than before the intenet generation?
