Lindsay said:eh? The US run is only up to episode 8 now but he hasn't been much of a jerk. Indifferent maybe but nowhere near the ass he was in Vol.1. Maybe he becomes a jerk later on in the series? (remember no spoilers!)
DarienA said:I hope that Vol. 2 and 3 are quickly announced for the US.
Lindsay said:While doing my daily check for .hack news I checked up on the rarely updated US site and guess what's there now? A logo and title for Vol.2!
.hack//G.U. Vol.2: Reminisce.
Guess they wanted a short name but "A voice of you" or "A voice that reminds me of you" would've been cooler. I wonder if they'll somehow make the third volumes title start with an "R."

jknguyen said:Yea it's gonna come w/ Vol. 1. Initial plans were for V.II but marketing over at NamcoBandai thought it was best to put those in the box. And since they made the demos we really didn't have much of a choice...
As to later volumes, the packins are still being decided so hopefully we can get in more demos.

HM: [No, that] only came with .hack//G.U. Vol.1 Rebirth. However, if you have a clear data of .hack//G.U. Vol.2 Reminisce, players can start .hack//G.U. Vol.1 Rebirth from an advanced level, so that even those who play .hack//G.U. Vol.2 Reminisce first can take advantage of .hack//G.U. Vol.1 Rebirth. This system is called "data feedback system."
jvalioli said:I just got GU and I did the "Convert Save" thing. I only converted Infection data since it was first on the list and it said they all did the same thing, but I don't see what extra I got.
LegatoB said:That's even funnier than the time they ran .hack//dusk (or whatever the anime's official title was) at 1:30am Friday nights completely unannounced and unadvertised. Even better, it was TV-Y7 and still had all the creepy twincestual undertones unedited. I guess if no one is watching it, it doesn't matter! :lol
Lindsay said:May? That isn't summer. But good news if true! That makes it almost certain we'll see volume 3 this year.
Bad news? Cartoon Network looks to be starting Roots from episode 1 come April 7th despite there being 5 more episodes to air. >_<
Sallokin said:I don't know, I would prefer it in April myself because isn't May Mass Effect month? I hated feeling sort of rushed with Vol. 1 because I knew FFXII was just around the corner.

I always wanted a box for the first four volumes (ala DDS). If the special edition of Vol2 really comes with that box, I'd get it.Lindsay said:
Yeah, I've played it for an hour or so. Beginning is really really slow.kenji said:it's outbut my copy will arrive in the weekend i think.. :/
someone already have it?
The Frankman said:I'm trying to buy the GU games but I'm so backlogged I'm stuck on Outbreak. Plus since it's been so long since I've seen the shows the gameplay is starting to grate on me.
Yeah I've done a few of the bonus dungeons already and I known the //SIGN charas were into the game but not as phantoms, made for a funny encounter. I have so many virus core it borders on overkill, and I've already wasted a significant amount of time doing dungeons just to level up Terajima Ryoko. I can't wait to proceed with the storyline after I finish watching a bit more of the DVD.Lindsay said:Outbreak is the toughest one of the classic series if ya ask me. So many data bugs in both normal and the eight or so "bonus" dungeons... @_@; Be sure to build up a nice collection of virus cores for Quarantine and be nice to my Terajima! Oh and don't forget to hunt down those "ghosts" from .hack//SIGN for many nice items!

The Frankman said:EDIT: It's kinda sad listening to the sweet VAs by the phantoms, then hearing a few of the games' VAs. For many of them it's night-and-day. :lol
Sallokin said:Also, how awesome does Haseo look on the cover for Vol. 3!?
Stage On said:It's currently secedualed for October more or less from what I've heard. Hopefully it stays on target and isn't delayed.
frame rate does a fair job of keeping up with the action. The cutscenes, while often too heavy handed, are at least well directed. The accompanying voice over isn't grating, though the constant anime-style shouting and growling does wear thin. The music fits the game well, but there are no stand-out tracks to be heard here.
Mejilan said:Has anyone done a tally of this thread's responses? I'd be curious at how a Lindsay vs. Everyone Else battle would fall.
I don't think you can get the Rebirth wallpapers/music through the Ryu Books when playing Reminisce.Lindsay said:Does anyone know if you can unlock wallpaper/music you may have missed in Rebirth here? I've unlocked alot so far but its all been Reminsice stuffs.

And yeah, I think a summer of .hack could be nice. Wouldn't want to sit through the //Legend of the Twilight anime though.
SeatBelts said:The .hack// series is certainly not for everyone. Most .hack fans don't really pay attention to the reviews.
Anyways My copy of Vol. 2 Reminisce should be here next week, can't wait![]()

Sadly this is what keeps me coming back to the .hack games even though the gameplay is average at best. The PC elements are so well done that I can't help but get engrossed in it. The forums are incredibly well done, the emails, the news feeds, it really feels like I'm connected to the internet. I really wish Cyber Connect would outsource the gameplay portions to someone like Level 5. A .hack game with great gameplay would undoubtedly be one of the greatest games of all time.DarknessTear said:They really need to look at other games or figure it out for themselves... how to make a really fun game. The ideas behind it is genius.. but it's executed very poorly. Having a PC-like system and being able to do all these things is really cool! but they just don't do it right and they didn't really offer enough content for the player either.

DarknessTear said:I wouldn't mind seeing a next gen version as long as they stop making the same mistake that most MMORPGS make which is increasing the length of the game by making you grind.
The battle system is an important part of the game obviously because it's a game and it's meant to be played, well if so, maybe they should add a lot more fun to the battle system instead of attacking the enemy nonstop until you can use Rengeki and that's it.
Also they really needed to fix some of the camera issues.. the way the bike works is horrible and the map on the top left is still HUMONGOUS and you can't toggle it off can you?
http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=tsusai&p=r&page=3 This guy has the entire thing posted. Just watch them like that... though it's obviously not as cool as seeing it on your TV, I wish I could get the disc too... also be careful because some of the other videos have GU vol 1 spoilers in their names I think?
Lindsay said:What grinding? Leveling up is as easy as taking on an area 2 or 3 levels higher then your own. Besides, since you cheated what would you know of it anyway? If you do the areas gotten from the message boards and quests inbetween story parts you should never be underleveled.
If you're refering to the fact that areas are crowded with monsters, well there is the Smoke Screen item that lets you exit battles it's also fairly easy to avoid most enemies in the first place. Unlike the original series, there is no bonus for completely clearing out areas so it isn't like you're being forced to.
Lindsay said:Attack attack attack~Isn't that what you do in every RPG? Heck, every game with enemies? Skills/Scrolls (magic) are useful. Instead of hacking away did you ever use any of those? It's also frequently useful to press O to defend. Protecting your allies from spells by drawing them near with L1 adds more defensiveness to things. Bothering to customize your weapons/armor/accessories for encounters with various baddies helps alot to.
Lindsay said:The map can be toggled off. Good luck finding your way around without it! Agree on the camera. I don't remember it happening in Vol.1 but in Vol.2 on more then one occasion did the camera get locked in place for several seconds before I could move it around again. Dunno whats up with that.
Lindsay said:Spoilers for the entire series from what I think Bebpo has said. I personally will not watch any of the ones unlocked in Vol.2 (5, 8,& 9) nor the rest until finishing Vol.3.
I just started attempting bike race course 2, and I hit select to look at the map quick, then hit X and O really quickly by accident and I FINISHED. In THREE SECONDS.
here let me go into more detail, when you press select take your left hand off the controler and put it on the x button, but don't press it, then take your right hand press circle then immedetly following press x, the description of the map should appear with no map, then just run into a king chim chim, note the king must already be visible or else it won't show up

DarknessTear said:Still doesn't change that the battle system isn't very good. It's just not a fun game to play!
Since it's more like an action RPG, they should have added more action elements. Jumping can make all the difference as well as maybe making a cooler combo system or something along those lines. The things I mentioned above are way better than mashing on one button non-stop. I think it's pretty cheap how there're flying enemies but you really don't have much control when it comes to hitting them. There's some stuff you can add to your weapon to hit the flying enemies but that's also pretty silly.
