Watched the money last night and it was great. I fucking love Hit Girl :lol .

Sad to see the character actually got criticised in a lot of the reviews...

Holy mother of god.
I didn't really know what i was going in for, it was a date and she chose the movie.

Fuck that was one of the best movies i've seen in a long time, we were blown away.

Man, I was completly blown away by the film. Kick-Ass is the best movie of the spring.

So many memorable moments. So many.

You guys are hyping this movie for me too much with these kinds of comments, I better lower em or else I may be dissapointed... :lol

Tough. The film is fucking awesome. Live with it.

Umm...for some reason this movie isn't playing at ANY of the theaters within an hour of me. That's around 9 theaters. Huh?! Is it a limited release, or am I just very very unlucky?

Wow, she's playing Eli next? That's going to be tough.
She's a great little actress, but I'm seriously pissed that they're remaking Let the Right One In. I wish her the best, but I hope Let Me In fails. Badly.

Yeah I'm loving Moretz at the moment but I don't think she can pull off Eli at all. We'll have to see.

Can't wait to check this film out finally. Also I know he's got a really really really long way to go but I think Aaron Johnson just might be able to become the next Johnny Depp.

He's already got the whole "I'm awkward at interviews and I don't want to be a teen celebrity" thing down.

oh wat the fuck? Hit-Girl is going to be playing the vampire in the "Let the Right One In" remake? i am now cautiously optimistic about it....which is now called "Let Me In" :lol

Too bad the scene of Hit Girl snorting Coke wasn't put into the film.

That would have probably been the scene to break the camel's back, and I'd bet most reviews would be looking more like Eberts :lol

I'm glad Ebert is reviewing films because you really get a sense of him as film-viewer. No detachment in that review.

I was caught up in the hype and thought that there was no way the film would live up to it.

I was wrong. My only complaint would be the unoriginal soundtrack but that's a minor niggle as the film was an absolute diamond. My gf loved it as well.

He had an axe to grind with that haha.

Axe to grind?

The early scenes give promise of an entirely different comedy. Aaron Johnson has a certain anti-charm, his problems in high school are engaging, and so on. A little later, I reflected that possibly only Nic Cage could seem to shoot a small girl point-blank and make it, well, funny. Say what you will about her character, but Chloe Grace Moretz has presence and appeal. Then the movie moved into dark, dark territory, and I grew sad.

And actually after reading that review, there's no way in hell I'm seeing this one.

I think that Ebert does find something wrong with the "moral" nature of the film, yes.

I loved the movie but you can't say that Ebert doesn't make some good points. Doesn't mean that you should have the same opinion without even seeing the movie, though :lol

What were his good points?

From what I could only tell is that he strongly detested the violence especially involving Hit Girl, and I loved it.

If you haven't seen the movie yet i would avoid that review as it contains spoilers.

I wish Ebert would at least have the respect to write about the movie without littering spoilers throughout his review, even if he found the film distasteful.

Kick-Ass 1-8 were just released on the comixology store for iPad.

Time to see what this is all about!

I'm not splooging myself over it, but i enjoyed it a lot. Action scenes were well done and it had lots of funny moments.

Mark Strong was also awesome, as usual, and the actor playing Dave was really endearing and believable.

The John Murphy tracks kind of distracted me at first, simply because i've listened to them numerous times. They matched the action so well, though, that i don't really mind. When "Surface of the Sun" kicks in HOLY SHIT was it epic.

I would... not put a lot of weight in Ebert's opinion on this one. He is letting his birth date show.

If you're gonna let Roger Ebert dictate whether you see the film or not then that's your issue :P

Ebert doesn't dictate shit to me. I just didn't even know what this movie was about before reading that review...

I saw this last night with my girlfriend, I absolutely loved it especially the action scenes, which were exceptional
Big Daddy in the warehouse was my favourite
, she enjoyed it but endless killing was a bit much for her. Overall, an amazing movie.

I often find myself in agreement with Ebert, but I'll have to disagree with him on this score. It somewhat reminds me of the reaction to Terry Gilliam's Tideland - in my mind, the "moral apprehensions" which it provoked led to the film being sorely underrated.

I usually like Ebert and I may in fact agree with him when I see Kick-Ass tonight, but what the fuck gives him the right to openly spoil the film on Twitter and in his review?

Thanks for the heads-up, I won't be reading his review until I see the film.

Damn I loved Tideland. Is Kick-Ass comparable in any ways? Hard to believe a comic movie would reach same levels as Gilliams work.

I'm excited for the film but both reviewers (Phillips whom I usually agree with, and Ebert who's on and off for me) raise good points.

Also I place the fault mostly on Millar. Dude is the most immature and annoying writer in the industry. Which is why I was hoping Vaughn strayed as far away from the source material as possible. Who cares if he pisses off the 10 fanboys.

Also yeah this is another Tideland issue. Where we can't see a little girl being objected to all this stuff so we start bashing the film. I have no problems with it though, it's not that which will probably keep me from liking the film. I just hope the dialogue isn't brain-dead.

He has a tendency to do that in reviews of movies he does not like. I'm surprised of his one-star review, but I look forward to seeing what he had to say after I see it this weekend. It seems it just rubbed him the wrong way.

I would be lying if i said the image of
Moretz getting pummeled by Mark Strong
didn't make me little uncomfortable, but i really loved the dark and twisted backstory given to her. She was a damaged little girl
that had been brainwashed all her life by her father into being a killing machine.
It basically presented what had been done to her as being morally reprehensible. Sure, she looked cool doing some of these dastardly things, but i don't think the movie shied away from the fact that it was all kind of disturbing.

The part where she
knifed the woman through the door that was trying to flee was an image that definitely irked me.

One thing that was bugging me the whole movie was where i recognised Dave's love interest from and it hit me as i was leaving the cinema. She is Ted's daughter from How I Met Your Mother.

damn, already bought tix to one theater near me for 10pm tonight but Fandango just put up another screening at a better theater with DLP projection :/

Anyone's 10pm screenings sold out?
