To the creator of this webapp -- I just added the NeoGAF bookmark on my Android screen, and the favicon is a full-size button! Very nice touch.

How did you do this? What's the pixel size? I want to recommend this idea to other websites!
They’re apple touch icons.

well when you use "www." you're surfing the world wide web, otherwise you're simply surfing the default web for your current location.

..I dunno.

Please allow the NookColor to access the web app.

Id liketo second this. Its definitely the fault of the nook color for not using a mobile user agent, but if you could get th app wirking on th nook color it would be much appreciated.

I've been using this an awful lot on my Windows Phone 7, kudos to Kohler!

One thing I'd like to see though, would be an option to switch from black text on a white background to white text on a black background - would certainly make my battery last longer! :D

Anyone else having problems right now? When I choose a forum, it takes me to the non-mobile site.
I haven't had that problem.

The only problem I get is sometimes I go to edit a post, but when it transitions back to that page it doesn't refresh to show the new change. Even hitting refresh doesn't work. I have to reload the page using the browser. It's not a big deal though. (running on iPhone.)

I keep getting a problem where user details above a post appear green and username / avatar don't appear. It also messes the prev page button (which goes back to forum regardless) and the refresh buttons just appends the homepage to the bottom of the screen. Refreshing sometimes fixes it but not often. Happens around 1 in 4 page loads.

Parsing problem maybe?

I have a shitty touch-based dumb phone that wishes it were a Smart Phone. An LG Rumor Touch. I have Opera Mini.. or Mobile.. or one of them, and for the most part it looks nice and works fine..

But the browser does not support Anchors. You know, scroll down to a place on the page. Like the link at the top that takes you to the last post at the bottom. Those don't work. And scrolling is so slow and shitty, not like my iPod touch, so it takes forever to get to the bottom of a page. I have posts set to 100 per page. This is how I like it on my computer. But since the post count per page is a user preference and not a browser one, in this webapp it just makes it impossible to read many threads. Because I'm constantly scrolling since the link doesn't work.

I would love to know if it were possible for you, the app maker, to implement an override for the posts per page option. So I can set it to 10 per page or something tolerable, but still have it 100 on my computer. Is this possible? Can anything be done?

Aside from the lack of anchors, the browser makes it work nicely. Except for some CSS problems. Buttons don't retain the height, etc.. still... stupid anchors! How can Opera not make these work? Is it just my phone? Or does Opera Mini/Mobile really not support them?

Will there be a way to go directly from a thread to ones Subscriptions?
When entering a thread I always have to go back to the off-topic/gaming forum and then to the Main menu in order to enter the Subscriptions page.

Nice web app btw, keep up the good work!

I've brought this up before but sadly nothing has come of it. It would be a lifesaver for OLED screens (and there's a lot of them out there now).

I find having a bookmark a much simpler solution.

That is some smart thinking you got going guys, I'll try it out.

Edit: btw, to thise of you who bookmark the gaming and offtopic forums, you can easily go from one to the other by clicking on "view forum" at the top.

The only thing I could wish for is official support so that I could just as an "m." to the beginning of any normal NeoGAF thread URL and it would switch over to the mobile version. Only because I use Instapaper, so sometimes I'll save a thread to "Read Later," then grab my iPad, but it will be the full site.

Everything else is awesome.

I really can't thank you enough for this web app. I use it on a daily basis.

If only all my favorite websites would have a mobile version this amazing... :(

It really does make much of the rest of the internet seem painful on my iPhone! (which leads to me spending much more time on GAF than I need to)
Yeah thanks to this webapp, my iPhone is basically 5% phone, 5% alarm clock, 5% gaming device and 85% GAF browser.

Any chance of filesize/filetype showing up with images off? My 2.1 droid device does not display gifs well and id rather not try to grab 2+ meg images on 3g.

Came in here to say this. Although I have a different reason.

If there was a way to make a nighttime color scheme white on black it would be great for those of jus whom use out smart phones and tablets in bed. My girlfriend hates how damn bright my iPad is when shes trying to sleep and a black background would be amaing.

I currently triple click the home button to invert the colors on the ipad but then everything is switched, and when I switch pages the. Black background is know bright white.

Even with the brightness way down the standard grey-white scheme is really bright on this huge screen. If it's at all possible it would be amazing, I've been using the he'll out of this app for months now.

Instapaper has a clever implementation for this. It uses your location to find out when the sun sets, and then engages 'Dark Mode', it works really well, but lord knows how hard it is to sort out.

I've been using this for a while now and I have to say that it is simply AWESOME, especially on my iPad.
Couple of suggestions/requests if you're still working on it:

1)Have an option in settings for "classic" quoting, with the whole text and quote tags shown; that would make editing quoted post much easier and also possible to reply per-point to quoted text, now the whole thing's a bit cumbersome in my opinion, just having the option would be perfect and after all that is already how it works when you edit your posts or in PMs.

2) A little icon next to the "quoting icon to copy a post in quote mode, so to make multi-posts quote possible. Right now is almost impossible, especially if you are in a fast moving thread and you don't want to flood it with one-per-post replies.

3) You should be able select text and then click on bold/spoiler/etc to have it wrapped. Now you have to rewrite what you want wrapped no matter what, and also manually delete the text you wanted bolded/spoilered/etc. it should auto-insert the text you've selected, this should be pretty simple I hope.

I can't stress enough how useful and elegant this web-app is, I couldn't bring muself back to classic browsing when on mobiles.
If you ever set up a donations paypal account I'd love to contribute, big props to ckholer and thanks!

Been recently approved, I wanted to say that my fiancé and I are really happy with the NeoGAF webapp. It's intuitive and very user friendly. I used it before on my Nokia 5800XM but on the iPhone it's even better (not only because of the device, but because it is optimized for it). Thanks again.

Thanks for the Web App. Definitely made my days of mobile GAF usable.

I have an issue with Opera Mini 5. Is there no way to post given the nature of the browser?

I have a request. It seems the "jump to bottom" link at the top is not an anchor, rather it's a Javascript. Which explains why it doesn't work on my crappy phone. Could you possibly pit in an option for it to actually be a link to an anchor instead? So I can use the site on my Rumor Touch in Opera without ripping my hair out?

How is it broken? I changed the ROM I was using and it solved my issue.
It goes to the normal website rather than staying in the app. I didn't have this issue earlier today, which is weird.

Edit: It looks like the default browser is ok. I don't know what is wrong with my Dolphin. :/

Edit2: ok, I guess it fixed itself after hitting edit. :S

Update:
Version 2.8 is now live.

New Features
  • BBCode buttons in custom editor now wrap around selected text (experimental)
  • Private Message lists now support multiple pages
  • Can now select which private message folder to view (sent items, custom, etc.)
  • New setting: Show/Hide Interface Gfx (except buttons)
  • New setting: Invert Colors (Ugly as sin, but you guys wanted it)

Bug Fixes
  • Sending/deleting a PM no longer returns an error (even when it works)
  • Fixed some users being incorrectly displayed as Mods

Notes
The Show Interface Gfx option is for when you want an extra boost on slow networks. Essential images (like buttons) continue to show however this option can significantly improve speed on 3G for things like the forum list screen.

Also, the new editor buttons thing where you can now select text and then wrap it in or
tags is experimental. I whipped up that code in just an hour so I'm not even sure what will happen on some browsers, especially those that don't support copy and paste (Windows Phone 7, for example). If it breaks too much, I can revert it later.

Finally, someone asked for there to be an option to include quoted posts directly into the textarea. I'm thinking about this one but personally, I'm for leaving it the way it is. Hopefully the new post screen button behaviors will help this anyway.

Why the fuck did I not know about this until today. I want to cry or something. So many pointless wasted minutes struggling with frickin' vBulletin...

So, are you sure you don't take donations? Like, coffee money or something?

And, sorry to say, my first reaction was "Kobun Heat writes webapps?!" before remembering that he is, in fact, KobunHeat.

Wrong Chris Kohler.

Been using the web app since getting an iPhone last week and love it. The only thing missing is a proper "first unread post" button instead of the jump to the last post button

Oh, and perhaps also have the search function work in landscape mode as well. The search itself is great, but switching from landscape to portrait just to type occasionally does get frustrating.

I had this problem on a certain rom. It may be an issue with the version of Android you're running. I'm not sure what exactly could cause the issue, as I was using the stock browser with each rom I tried it on. It's all kind of a mystery for me. All I can say is that once I switched to the latest Cognition Froyo rom for my Galaxy S phone, the problem stopped.

I didn't switch roms on my evo ;_;

It's not that ugly, and hell it's an environmental triumph when you think about it!

From my perspective it's 99.9% perfect. If you were open to suggestions - it would be nice to see a few more interface options. The buttons work great on iPhones, but I think it would be cool to be able to select a theme that fits WP7 a little better. I wouldn't even mind sending you the images, if you were interested.

Kind of funny ckohler put in the invert colors option in, just last week I discovered I could set my iPhone to invert colors by triple pressing the home button.
