A NeoGAF iPhone Web App

Huh. So my iPhone was jailbroken a while ago, I added the iPhone app to my homescreen when I was running the MP2 theme and when I restored me iPhone I was still getting the iPhone app on my iPhone skinned with the MP2 theme. I'm going to try installing the theme and uninstalling it and see if it goes. No ideas beyond that though.

Can we try to send this again to apple for approval? There are shit loads of apps that do the exact same shit that this is suppose to do.
Isn't that the problem, "no duplicate apps" or some such?

This never really needed to be a native app.

It works perfectly as a webapp, so I don't think there'd be much of an advantage for it to be a native app.

Any possibility if you adding in the DinoGAF theme?

I know that. I was just saying that it would be nice if both sites were implemented as one.

I was being sarcastic. Is there ever a reason you'd go to the main neogaf site on your mobile phone? Outside of the address bar saying "secondapps.com/neogaf" and the about page saying it's not hosted on gaf's servers you can't even tell the diff.

I'm a perm-a-junior. I did something stupid.

there is no reason for this to be a native app aside from redrawing the buttons more quickly.

also, I believe apple has said that apps cannot just be a frame around a standard website - which is pretty much all this would be.

Plus don't forget, as a webapp, any phone with internet access can browse gaf nicely from their phone. I've made great use of this app on my nokias and my sony ericsson phones.

Is there any way to have multiple quotes?
This was my suggestion which is more for quoting and responding to long post, ckholer is thinking about it but so far I don't think many of us asked for multiquoting:

"The buttons BBC code are a lot better now and it definitely helps (can we also have one for underlining in the future?) but making the quoted text visible in the text area would make it possible to do point per point replies of a long post... Right now you can't do that unfortunately.
It'd also help in attempting multiquotes and also in not having to click back and forth to see what sentence of the quoted post you should be replying next."

For a proper multiquote I think the only way would be a "flag-the-posts" method with a QUOTE button at the bottom of app.

Anyway, I'd really like to have the quoted text visible in the reply, much quicker to cut useless stuff and such.

I'd like a more traditional quoting style, with the tags visible as you type your reply. Don't know if it could be an option but the current system does prevent you easily doing multi quoting.

Alternatively you can go to secondsapps.com/neogaf and the same thing will happen.....
Well, the reason I can see for wanting neogaf.com to redirect is because I have my bookmarks synced across all my browsers including my mobile ones, so having a bookmark to neogaf.com would be more convenient.

But I don't care as I just have a homescreen bookmark to SecondApps on both my iPod touch and Android phone.

I just got an iPad and I must say, even on this big screen, it makes for a much cleaner and easy to use experience. And I was afraid the iPad was unable to view this site.

Anyone else getting tons of errors and cannot connect to server messages while loading pages in the GAF mobile app recently or what? Is it just me? Is this because of high GAF server stresses or a problem with the app?

Yeah, I have been getting them as well but over the last day or 2, everything seems to be back to normal

Occasionally. Not a lot though. Usually goes away after a retry.

Yes.... Way too much.

I can't do anything.
And when I jump to the normal page it loads fine.
(which is what I did to post this)

Yeah l get this a lot, usually a refresh/reload page does the trick.

Maybe something that can be fixed. On Android HTC Thunderbolt while in landscape mode, all I see is black while typing a reply. It works in standard but still very annoying.

Any chance of getting a "previous page" near the top of the page? I can't be the only one that sometimes reads threads backwards .....right?

Just press the title and you bounce to the bottom of the page.

I do the same thing, are you using the top-bottom buttons? Sort of makes the need for a previous page button at the top a non issue.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing now, but less actions is always better. =)

That same spot can be split into two functions.

I wish it were possible that any time I clicked a link to a thread (that's not posted on gaf) of a thread that it would automaticlly go to the mobile version of the forum. That's why I think it'd be nice if we had a. Actual app version.
