Yeah, if you add the mobile Facebook site to the iOS homescreen it launches fullscreen. I wish the secondapps gaf did that as it's clearly possible.
I think this is a good idea.
I don't think it would work as well as it should. "WebApp" sites don't have the ability to show a menu to open a page in another tab. They don't have tabs at all. So if you are like me, and you want to open all your subscribed threads in tabs to read in digest form, you can't. Also, there's no Back button so you can't just go back a page. You'd have to rely on the navigation, which would mean more tapping to get back to the Subscriptions page.

This is where the FaceBook App fails. If I click a link in a post, it doesn't open in Safari, it opens in the same app window and I lose the ability to go back to FaceBook. It makes me go back to the Home screen and launch the app again to get back to FaceBook.

Not a good idea. Not at all. At least not in the current state.

First off...thank you for this app. I pretty much browse gaf exclusively with it. I'd never return to my laptop for gaf if mobile browsers could handle gifs better.

One tiny request though...and this may be something that can't be fixed as I'm not on iOS. But I'm on a Windows Phone 7 OS...and my page jump and search buttons don't work. Every other button works great though.

Thanks again ckohler!

So don't put it on your homescreen - use a bookmark and then it keeps the Safari chrome. Or a preference should be able to be done, because I believe it only relies on a special webkit tag to decide what mode to go into.

It's more complicated than that. The whole thing would have to be rewritten to only make ajax calls. Once you go into that mode, you can't open another web page or it launches Safari. It's a lot of work for very little benefit and possible slowdown.

I think the webapp is a great idea, but I really can't stand reading long posts laid out in a sans-serif font. Is there any way to make secondapps or the phone itself display a custom font?

The thing that makes it not work for me is that Android insists on scrolling all the way to the end of the reply box so that I can't see what I'm typing. I suppose I could try an alternate mobile browser.

Yeah, this happens on my Samsung Galaxy s2. Though apparently it only happens on the stock browser.

Still, would be nice to see it fixed.

It seems to work a little better if I use Opera but I don't really like Opera.

so far it only works on Opera, others, like the stock, you have to type blind or keep on scrolling up to check your typing

Yeah, once I got used to Opera mobile it worked a lot better. Opera Mobile is pretty fast too. I was doing this really awkward thing where I was not signed in on mobile, so I'd type replies from the regular GAF page, but read the forum on the app, so that works better.

Just tested this on the 3DS and I have to tell you made a GREAT JOB! I googled "Neogaf mobile" and found your app. Previously I could navigate "main" NeoGAF with the 3DS easily, but shit now I can't go back!

Congratulations on a great job.

I just wanted to say that you are the man. This web app is very impressive.

Put in the title whether you ever need donations and I'll be happy to contribute $5.

Does the Touchpad have a web browser? Yes? Than it's already supported.

it’s not that simple. ckohler has a whitelist of mobile browsers so that people don’t log into the mobile site from a desktop.

the touchpad may need to be added to the whitelist.

How awesome would it be if we got an actual app developed with notifications for PM's?

Yep :/

It use to work fine for me but then I changed to a new custom rom (a gingerbread rom) and now I have to use opera for gaf.

Added. Can't be sure until you guys try.

It no longer redirects me to the regular site, but I'm getting the message about not being on a mobile device when trying to log on. Thanks for working on this!

There is a missing feature in the webapp (well, I couldn't find it). There is not a log out button. I was banned for a week, so I couldn't browse the forum on my phone. I had to delete all my cookies.

The logout button is in 'view your profile.' Sucks about the banning, lol.

Could you please add BlackBerry PlayBook support? :( It would be amazing for portrait view browsing.

I can't change options in the "settings" pane on my Blackberry. You know, the "switches". :(
Works fine if you click / tap using the browser in OS6 and OS7.

They are just links. Tap them.
ckohler, what's the status on the official GAF app? Is that going to happen, or has EviLore contacted you about that? He talked about the possibility long ago but nothing has come up since.

You know you want to do it for the tableters, ckohler.

webapp is fantastic! But I wish it didn't keep taking me to my previous post when I post a new one, making me have to refresh again to get all the posts in the thread after that old post of mine (sometimes in an old page).

Something's wrong with the app on the iPhone 4 now. You can actually see it on the picture above, when u go to any of the sections it's not aligned to the screen. Which means if you want to press the arrow at the side of a topic, you have to scroll the page to the right before you see the arrow.
