The iOS theme is fantastic and looks great on iPhone which I am guessing is the smart phone of choice for most of GAF. I don't see why one would need to mess with something that already is great.

Well, he did say most...
not subjective 'best' :p
I find that a lot of people use the web app on their iPads and iPods, too.
It's logical to make it its own thing, rather than to use iOS/safari resources. The problem is just nailing something that looks right, since I think everyone can agree that ckholer has the functionality all down.

That sounds like it would be too much of a pain in the ass, not to mention kinda impractical.Ever that or do a safari UI for iphones and a holo UI for android.

That's very true.. It's still a tap away, though, just as showing stowaway options. BUT I can see it sort of banking things annoying with options detached exclusively in two places like that.Sentry, you should know that attaching things to the bottom of the screen isn't really feasible. It can be made to happen but it doesn't work everywhere. So, since you have to scroll down to get to the controls on the buttom (or tap-to-jump to the bottom), it's important that there be enough controls and information at the top.
If you think it should look as much like GAF prime as possible, then D4Danger's mockup is the most accurate. White on two shades of flat blue.
Those little paging arrows would be impossible to hit, I think. At least for those of us with screens that can't double as monitors!
that's the version for the Galaxy Note with stylus.
Yeah, like I said the way I did it in the mockup isn't that good, they could be bigger. Basically the size of the last post arrow/button to the right of the threads. Those little paging arrows would be impossible to hit, I think. At least for those of us with screens that can't double as monitors!

I dont know what this is![]()
Ugh. Get dat WP7 shit outta here.
That being said, I do like the ad being flush with the content.
Did anyone ever figure out a bookmarklet to switch from Main GAF to the mobile site, I currently just remember the thread name and find it on the mobile site if someone links me on Twitter.

I like this one, it's the most GAF-like. Just dump the page buttons under the title, they're unnecessarily if tapping jumps you to the footer.

I actually don't, ckholer was right, it doesn't look good squished with the site content. That being said, I do like the ad being flush with the content.
Looks nice and clean, but I still feel there's a lot of empty space not being taken advantage of. Critical info (like page x out of x) should be shown somewhere up there.well since people seem to be taking my 5 minute photoshop seriously I decided to clean it up.

Sorry for the DP, but I had an idea that I thought might look neat, so I went with it.
The simplicity of D4Danger's style looked great, so I tried merging that theme a bit with my GAF-style mockup. I think this really pulls off an official NeoGAF Mobile look (dummy advert included).
I think the colored N-Ball logo is necessary, being official and all. This style not only saves space, but gives it a streamlined look as opposed to a tool-bar style. I think it also gives the advert breathing space.
Since people seemed to like D4's lighter blue combo too, I included that as well. I think that palette combination looks great here (don't mind placeholder buttons/text);

The footer could be of similar style with the next/previous page buttons, as you could imagine.
Oh and it plays nicer with the Safari menu bar, too (imo); http://cl.ly/E3rV
Sentry, you did good.
D4Danger, you did even better.
- an actual designer.
No way, man. Sentry's latest mockup is perfect for an official GAF web app. It's just as functional as the other mockups, only it's MUCH more consistent with the GAF look/vibe. Flat blue with white silhouette icons does not match up with the look of the main site. Sentry's mockup does.
Purely design-wise, I think the simplicity and look of D4's is great, but you have to take into consideration where it will be viewed and who will be viewing it, instead of preferred style.Sentry, you did good.

TBH, I used a lot of of D4's assets and applied it to a different style. No way, man. Really nice. The menu button looks a little weird to me though. Might be better if it was grey normally and orange when the menu opens.
Anyway, I think we need to keep in mind that this will be the website that ANYONE who visits neogaf.com from a mobile device, will be redirected to.
Can you imagine all the users on here, from gaming along with lurkers, that don't know about ckholers secondapps site?
I look at whatever mobile version we end up with as the official entry to GAF for a lot of new people, so it needs to feel like actual GAF, more so than a custom skin or theme.
