I dunno if this has been suggested but I don't really like the way quotes work at the moment, where you have to go to a separate page to edit a quote, then go back to the reply page. Would be better IMO to have both on the same page - show what you're quoting in one box and allow you to edit it, and let you write your reply in another box. Something like that. Just not being able to read what you're quoting while you're writing a reply is kind of a pain.
Edit: Orb should go to the main page. It's the expected behavior.
Well it would be a hassle to view all the text you're quoting when on a phone, tbh. BUT, I think it would be cool to have a hide tag that you press, and it reveals/drops down the quoted text, rather than taking you to a separate page entirely. Not sure how feasible that would be, though.
Guys I think any design submitted should also have a mockup on how it will look in thread view. Ideally it should be consistent throughout the whole browsing experience.
How would the title be displayed in thread view? Is there a point in having which forum you're on in thread view. Etc.
Couple more mockups perhaps? The last submitted by D4 and Sentry are both excellent in my opinion. If it were up to me the 'action' bar would be the default navigation bar. So press on Orb would show action bar with forums. Press on page number would show a bar with: First, Prev, GoTo, Next, Last. Finally pressing the menu button would give you the 'Post', 'Reply', 'Search' or whatever you want.
That's simple, the thread title would just be a slightly smaller font size and have it in that blue header. Obviously it wouldn't fit the full title, but you tapped on it from the forum list anyway, so..
Plus, the first post of the thread should have the full thread title in it, anyway. Nothing else really changes.
I don't think posting on the 'page x of x' text in the header would be a good idea, too easy to accidentally hit the ad or hit the board title, which makes you jump to the bottom.
All that needs to be done is the footer style, which I'm thinking would be something like this;
With the previous/next page buttons being in those left/right tabs, and the # of posts/page info in the center. Something like that.. but that's simple stuff, I think.
I really like Sentry's as well. Curious how the thread pages would look.
I'm not sure if the in-thread viewing will change, or if ckohler was planning on it. He is working in multi-quote, so there's some change/new buttons there, but who knows if the actual view will change.
Anyway, for the thread view, I think the header/options would be something like this;
Not sure about those buttons, though, maybe too much. I just thought, since it's thinner, more icon options could be fit in.
D4's blue angled tab header is better than the one i'm still using, in terms of looks, so don't mind that part. Well, except maybe for the length, it's a bit short which isn't a good thing for the thread views, since the longer the better (in order to use a smaller font size/fit more characters). Might as well post the button options for forum viewing as well;
All that is just conjecture, not sure what the finalized drop down options will actually be, or if there'll even be that many.
