Earlier today, HaloGAF was briefly talking about how awesome a Halo turn based strategy game would be. I know the series already has an RTS, but whatever, I like turned based better. Think X Com: Halo Edition.

Another idea: a Batman: Arkham City style game starring Captain Falcon cleaning up the mean streets of Mute City.

Persona 4X.

In all seriousness though, I think a Mass Effect game in the vein of Galactic Civilizations (or Infinite Space, to bring up a more recent example) would be phenomenal.

Unkarted!

Resident Evil 1st person shooter. Not a lightgun game but something closer to left4dead but take elements from Outbreak titles and make it more slow paced horror title.

Silent Hill dungeon crawler.

Final Fantasy dating game. For Vita with touchscreen and backtouch implemented well!

Zelda turn based RPG.

World of Starcraft.

If they want to transform my favorite franchise into a new genre, they better just make a new IP. The world needs to fit the gameplay.

the genre is a big part of the reason of why i love a franchise, so changing it would probably make it worse

ie: i love Myst, but make a myst game that is anything but like the others wouldn't make me like it as much. The changes in Myst V were enough to don't make me enjoy it

Draw from the game's universe. Look for a way it's world could be looked at from a different perspective. What is happening in the stray corners of the game's lore that could be turned into something new? It can both compliment and contrast the main line games in a franchise.

I dunno, I think there's room for it.

I mean, like, I wasn't pissed when Halo Wars didn't turn out to be the sequel to Halo 3.

Side view MetalGearVania. You're always procuring weapons and gear in these games necessary to progression, and they usually take place in self-contained settings, so why not? And it could take notes from Mark of the Ninja in terms of how to pull off great 2D stealth.

It would pretty much be a dream game for me.

Soul series ( Dark Souls/Demon w/e comes next) fighting game. They have lots of great characters enemies and bosses to work with.Last Blade and/or KoF style battle is my ultimate dream.

Pokémon Tactics (SRPG): you build parties consisting of multiple Pokémon (that you use simultaneously) and battle it out on grids with other trainers and Team Rocket and other crime syndicates.

Metal Gear Survival Horror Action. Snake infiltrates a haunted facility and there are ghosts (of his past?) and monsters and stuff. It's like MGS x RE4 x Luigi's Mansion.

Gears of Mario. Mario and Dom team up to kill Koopa horde hybrids bred by Bowser.

Mario - Survival Horror
Gears of War - Dancing/Rhythm action
Crackdown - Multi-event sports
Halo - Space combat
Star Wars - Death Star resource management
Resident Evil - R rated multi-player party games
Rocksteady's Batman - Beat 'em up
Borderlands - Karting

There is no doubt, all of these would be awesome.

a zelda srpg. get the valkyria chronicles guys on it.

i think a pure action game might be a little too close to where it currently is.

Vanquish brawler
Final Fantasy XI Musou
Lost Odyssey visual novel
Uncharted Open World Zelda Clone
Rival Schools adventure game/school sim

Would buy all of these.

Persona 4 Store-keeping sim - Take the role of Yosuke as you try to keep every day great at your Junes.
Every PlatinumGames Game Ever - 2D Fighter. I like Anarchy Reigns but not a huge fan of 3D fighting; gets a little too crazy but I'd love to see the characters in a 2D fighting game.
League of Legends x Dota2 - 2D fighting game because why not.

Left 4 dead but survival rpg, although I guess it'd still be an fps

for something completely different, probably a naruto RTS where you control different clans or something.

All the Mass Effect games are easily RPGs. Unless you're requesting an isometric dungeon crawler for the next ME game, this doesn't belong in the thread.

I'd prefer an adventure game with light platforming and puzzle solving. Maybe some combat but really understated if it's there at all.

Mass Effect in the vein of Dragon Age Origins/the RPGs of old. Huge worlds different playable characters, with playable races, party control, grander, not a corridor shooter, lots of customization, etc etc is what I think he's getting at.

Or he might just want it to feel like an RPG?

This would be very interesting. I was also thinking in terms of turn-based but it could also work as a real-time strategy game.

As a 2nd choice I'd say: Bond franchise with RPG mechanics.

Silent hill book of memories was a good start imo, with some improvements a sequel could be fantastic. World needs more horror dungeon crawlers.

A game like FTL but a bit more complex, and with coop (each player is a member of the crew). I think there is something like this but not very well executed. Would be a blast to play it with friends and teamspeak.

Suikoden Musou, with 20-30 playable characters, some villains, based on I-III + V. I-it's Luca Blight! RUUUUN FOR YOUR LIVES.

Three Kingdoms RPG. Based on Dynasty Warriors characters. Choose your kingdom, control the leader as MC, recruit the characters.

Wing Commander-esque space sim with characters and themes from Yakuza.

You know you want to obliterate tons of hostile families' space fighters and then go play space pachinko and fight in zero G! Just imagine Kazuma Kiryu in the cockpit prepping for launch and you'll get the idea.

Y'know, I reckon World of Warcraft would work as an RTS. Heck, that's practically how I play it, being a raid leader; I effectively have a finite number of units that can act autonomously but perform better by being ordered around! It'll be a hit!

(To get kinda serious, I could actually see a single-player game structured around being a guild leader, effectively like X-Com; you'd get a world overview for recruitment and resource gathering, with a direct interface of a small group for actual group combat. If I ever get back into making games - from an amateur standpoint, these days, of course - I'd be sorely tempted to work on that idea)
