A Plague Tale: Requiem - 60 FPS Patch for PS5|SX and More PC Options Now Live

Can anyone check if RT was fixed on PC? Given how demanding the game is @4K, I'll buy 4090-like GPU at some point in the future and before 3rd game's release to replay Requiem at 4K 60 instead of 4K DLSS and locked 30/40 without RT.

PS. I'd love to play the first game with updated GFX on a level of Requiem with improved gameplay and QOL features. Hopefully Asobo will consider making it happen maybe after when all the work on the 3rd game is done (incl. post launch support).

Don't be so inflammatory. It's a demanding game, and there are compromises to be made for it to hit 60fps,
Calling a team incompetent and lazy when they launched a successful, highly reviewed title on multiple platforms is lame.

Doesn't look like that at all, looks like a significant drop in resolution to 1080p and reduction in foliage, probably more things going on to hit 60fps. But looks good still.
i think we have enough cases this year that certainly suggests poor optimization and a rush to get these games out the door with a "we'll fix it after release" mentality. This case is not just anecdotal but a major trend we've seen.

It's running great on Series X at the moment at least.
Here's some PS5 gameplay. Framerate graph starts at 5:30.

Looks like locked 60FPS?
gonna cry tobey maguire GIF
Nah, Xbox is used to it. I'm glad it's aimed at Xbox. If Xbox goes under then all that hatred and insecurity will be aimed at Nintendo and PC, which will be truly embarrassing.

B..but neogaf told me that it is impossible to have 60fps in next gen only games. what happened?
It's almost like, when devs are given enough time to work on a game without forcing a release date based on marketing agreements optimization can be done.

yikes. Not a fan of "ambigous" performance named modes that actually reduce the graphics this visible. I would prefer if they just cut down the resolution with good TAA instead of reducing details.
But for the love of god, I also hope performance modes won't become fsr2.0 720p shit show of pixelization

This isn't just a 60fps mode. I'm getting an unlocked fps hovering around 80-90fps for my Series X on my LG CX.

are you sure it's 80-90 fps and not 40-45 fps?
the game can use low framerate compensation, which will make your TV display 80-90 hz, but the game will run at half of that

Ooof, so foliage takes a huge hit. Resolution is lower. Texture quality also looks worse but that's probably a byproduct of the lower resolution. Draw distance is also much lower. Is that a whole ass tree missing and lower shadow quality too?

Yeah, the visual degradation might be a bit too much there...

Ground details also take a big hit with a clear reduction of quality of tesselation.

This feels like going from high settings to low tbh. It's too extreme a reduction of quality imho, will stick with 30 as it is not a fast paced action game.

This game is all about graphics. If this game ain't right to play with 30fps, then I don't know how to help people.
It's a slow, beautiful game with fantastic motion blur quality. It looks great at 30fps.
Suuuure, it looks better at 60 in motion but not with this downgrade

Well, at least they are doing something good.

Not gonna lie though, when I see things like these, they trigger me. Just more fuel into the fire of devs releasing incomplete games at full price, now we are putting in stuff that should be part of the game as `features` later. Hey look, improved performance is a feature now.

Triggered but at the same time vindicated for typically never buying a game within the first 6-12 months of its release. Can't trust these dev mfs.
They are a team of 35 people and released a very polished game, one of the few that actually looks like something current gen, with only one downside being its 40fps framerate.

This is not EA not giving a shit about releasing an unfinished $200m game.

Come on

And yet you are adamant you don't want mid gen refresh ..

I invite those who said 30 FPS will become the new norm to comment on this. Now would be a really good time for you to tell us how we're delusional to expect 60 FPS out of next gen and that the only way forward is an upgrade to pro.

I'm guessing that they released the game with locked 30 FPS mode because they simply didn't optimize it in time for the original release, and only now managed to polish it enough to make it run at stable 60. Honestly, that's not even that bad of an idea because at least it's a way to avoid bad press resulting from disappointing performance. It's probably what Jedi Survivor devs should've done as well.

Also, fuck Gotham Knights even more now, because there's no way these bozos will spend any amount of time trying to optimise that shitty ass game, lol.
Especially since they went back and put time into this patch, someone people said they wouldn't be bothered to waste resources on or wasn't possible.

You should fire this game up on your 3080 to see how truly breath taking it can look. A real current gen game IMO.

Wait how do you even play this, when the grass servers the gameplay purpose?

This area is "open world" (like Madagascar in U4) and only exploration happens here so grass in not needed for gameplay purposes. They probably needed to cut down CPU usage a lot and hey made game with 30/40FPS target previously so changes needed to happen.

But yeah, for 120Hz display owners 40FPS mode is the best (and I play Spider Man like that on PS5).

There are other ways around it... optimisation is not just lowering settings. It is when you are on pc but there are ways to develop your game with other cutbacks.
Look what tlou2 is doing on 5x weaker hardware

What, baked lighting, severely cut down geometry and draw distance, quarter the rat count? drop the light source count?

This game is current gen to fook and looks it. It's probably the first game that really pushed these consoles with it's engine. It is absolutely the PS5 and series X that can not deliver a game on this level at 60FPS. You are pretty much saying cut everything that makes this game current gen to make it a ps4 game... :/

I honestly don't care.

My stance is unmoving, I don't care if it's a team of one person, 30 or 300.

I respect and admire what devs do, and I can say that all night and day and not say a single bad thing about them as long as I am not expected to pay for something. But the second money is changing hands, then it becomes a transaction. As I keep saying, devs do not expect us to pay in stages, or patch in parts of our payment, why should we be ok paying for any kinda suboptimal product?

Why is it ok in any way, to pay full price for something that is clearly not polished, or complete or missing features? I personally think that is a disservice to those devs that put out their games in a more finished or better state. Would you buy a car and have them send you the tires after? Why are we making excuses for them? Small team my ass, doesn't the game still cost $70?

So I should be grateful they are making a game that I am expected to pay for? I swear this shit continues to happen cause some of us gamers act like these devs are doing us a favor.

As it stands, I talk with my wallet, I give 95% of all games released at least 6 months before I buy them, and just because I don't trust devs. Now if in those 6 months, they get their game to a state I deem acceptable, I buy, if not...I just wait until its priced at a point I feel is fair for the product I am getting.
