A Returning Animated Super Smash Bros Character

Yes :)
The two links have always been my favorite characters, so I'm glad they're both back (well, Link was pretty much a given, even before the game reveal at E3).

My bet for next month goes to either Sonic or a Pokemon character being revealed. Thinking the latter is more likely since it's a Nintendo franchise.

Well I'll be damned. I really thought they would dump him for ALTTP/Between Worlds Link, especially after the Spirit Tracks stage cameo.

Peach looks like she let a huge one rip!

I love him but I was hoping Lttp2 Link I'll be perfectly honest. And what black magic are they performing to get the 3DS version to look that good!
I wouldn't be suprised if there is no 3d effect to use the extra power. Plus it would be hard to keep the 3ds still with a game like this.

Pokemon Trainer on Oct 11, and I really hope to see Sonic on Oct 29 or Nov 8 If he didn't get announced by then then I would give up my hope with him.

Yay!! My main is back! :3

I can honestly say I don't think we'll get any cuts. Doesn't seem somethink Sakurai's interested in.
I don't think we will, either. Hopefully the announcement of Toon Link will shut people up. I don't expect any cuts. Not Lucario, not Ike, not Wolf, not R.O.B., not anyone. The only two that I'd be kind of worried about are Jigglypuff and Snake, but I think they'll make it in, too. We'll see.

I like the depth of field in that one shot with just Peach and Toon Link. I'm guessing these are direct captures?

I wouldn't give up hope afterwards, he may require a more unique announcement considering Sonic is third party and all. Not to mention that he was the most requested character for the franchise.

Jigglypuff should get in due to seniority alone.

Snake's more up in the air, but I don't think Nintendo really loses anything having him stay in Smash despite MGS5 skipping the Wii U. It'd been something like 5 years since the Twin Snakes remake came out on the GCN when Snake was in Brawl after all.

I predict that Sonic may be revealed when his new game, Sonic Lost World is released in Japan in late October.

You are right but the reason why I don't want Snake to go because I really enjoying his moveset. Hopefully that someone can absorb the moveset and make sense at same time.

Disappointed. I like Toon Link but I reckon it's a slot wasted for 2 characters that are the same person :(

There aren't a set amount of "slots" by which characters are assigned to, like what.
It's less resource intensive for the developers to create a character if it reuses animations, especially if they're transferring over a character that was already in Brawl.

I don't understand how people always seem to think, oh if they cut one character then they can just replace it with another. Characters will get cut because they require some effort to update, but creating a new character from the ground-up is a whole different thing.

Final Smash: Bloom Bomb

Covers the stage in so much bloom everyone else gets thrown off the stage.

Except for ivysaur for it thrives off light.

Seriously, this is a fiction you have all created. Sakurai wasn't there juggling between Toon Link and Ridley (or whatever ridiculous character you think would work), he just wanted Toon Link in again.

It still requires resources, though. I'd rather they cut 5 clones if we get 1 original character.

I had hoped that this would finally be the game where they dropped all the clones or at least reworked them to have unique movesets, but judging from the screenshots I suppose neither is going to be the case. Welp.

Well, it's very likely that Jigglypuff was almost cut from Brawl, judging by game data. She was presumably a late addition, along with Wolf, Toon Link, and Sonic. She's not untouchable. But it'd be a shame to see her go since she's an original character and all. That didn't stop them from cutting Mewtwo, though... =/ (They better fix that mistake this time around!)

Snake is really difficult to predict. There's not really any good reason for him to stay, but then again there's not really any good reason to cut him, either. He's a unique character, and I think his franchise adds some charm to the game. It'll be interesting to see what happens. We did get Snake Eater 3D on 3DS not too long ago, so he's still kinda sorta relevant to Nintendo systems. Well, more than he was at the time of Brawl's announcement, at least.

It's not that mewtwo was cut its more like he didnt get to be fully added in before the deadline, according to the data we saw on brawl's disc

If none of those screens are bullshots this game is looking really good on both the Wii U and 3ds. Toon Link almost looks like a claymation model or something.

Well, that's pretty reasonable. I get the feeling that most clone detractors aren't thinking that way.
I think the story goes that Sakurai felt like Melee's roster needed to be bigger, so he used the remaining dev time to add in Melee's 6 clones. He was also considering just adding Dedede instead. Actually, that case involves creating clones rather than porting them over so the proportional work might be even less.

Was kinda hoping he'd have an original moveset, but whatever. I'll take it if this means we get an interesting Wind Waker stage this time.

I fully expect Ike to get replaced by Chrom, just like Ike replaced Roy.

sakurai is tweeking things as he goes along, just yesterday he revealed luigi now has his flutter jump which adds to his vertical jump, 2 days before that, he revealed samus' charge shot is faster and stronger then in brawl
