A small soda at AMC is 32 ounces

I never buy food or drink at the theater because its outrageous how much they charge you. But today I was feeling pretty thirsty so I went up to the concession stand and saw the prices. 5 dollars and change for a large soda and 3 something for a small. I asked her what size a medium was and she pulled out this gigantic bladder splatter of a cup. I laughed and said I'll take a small. This is the choices you're given at the theater. huge, more huge and sugar coma.

This is in no way a Bloomberg demand for smaller drink sizes. I just wanted to buy a small coke.

Its basically this (but without the tiny water cooler cup).

Take a 12oz can or 20oz bottle in with you.

Problem solved. It's like the old saying if you don't like it don't buy it, "small" drinks have been like this in theaters for a long time now, at least here.

LOL @ that picture of the cups. What show is that?

(And yeah, we noticed this the last time we went to the theatre. Asked for small sodas and got those big ass fucking cups.)

something something American small something.

That LOL@America meme is appropriate here too.. Its ridiculous for that to be the small size. Having kids carry those things with their twizzlers and shit is a PITA, and there is no way they will finish it.

The fun thing at my theater is the way prices scale.

5 dollars for a small, 5.50 for a medium or 6 for a large. You essentially pay a 4 dollar drink tax with somewhat reasonable prices tacked on top.

I like the largwr sodas at movies. Its the only time I drink thwm and the salt from the popcorn makes me thirsty

Also I rather have to much and not drink it all then to have to little and miss out on the movie

I always bring my own food but drinks with ice are pretty much impossible to smuggle in so I always end up getting a drink from them.

But how would it last through a 2 hour movie if it was smaller? No human possesses that amount of self control over their thirst.

I rock the stubbs card so gets free upgrades to the trough size.

It's a pretty great deal for $12/year considering the other benefits tbh.

Soda is super cheap to sell, so they only give you the option to pay for a lot of it, and you have no other options in the theatre unless you planned ahead.

People realize they aren't forced to consume this in one sitting, right?

Honestly the large sized one is probably more soda than I would prefer to consume in a whole day, let alone a sitting.

They are just huge man, and expensive. There's no real child size, which is really strange (IMO) for a place like a movie theater.

Actually $3 for a small soda in a movie theater is kind of cheap when it comes to theater prices. Next time try asking for a kids size drink.

They didn't have any smaller cups last time I went. They offered us bottled water for them which are smaller in size, but of course the kids wanted soda and not water so /shrug.

The worst part: a lot of theaters offer free refills, but only on sizes larger than a small (which is, in fact, huge). People immediately spring for that because, you know, you might run out! And it's free!
Even in my worst, soda-drinking youth, I don't think I'd ever need a refill on anything at a theater.

That's pretty amazing.
When McDonalds started selling Coke, the only size available was a 7oz. For reference a kids size one now is 12oz.

People would refill during a movie?

HEY! That's against the rules.
