AC:Unity Hype Thread/Everything We Know So Far.

Dedicated crouch is such an obvious thing that should be in every stealth game...especially for an assassin game. Glad they are finally putting it in.

Also, no rooftop patrols makes me very happy.

Has anything been said about the non-co op multiplayer?

AC multiplayer has always seemed to me like the most under rated gameplay advancement the past generation. When in the right game with the right people, it feels like a true assassins game. No other game has made me feel like "JESUS HE WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME"

This thread addresses a lot of my misgivings about the game. I'm very relieved to hear that the co-op stuff is optional and totally separate from the core single player experience. I'm also happy the puzzles and sidequests that made AC2 great are coming back. This is now my most anticipated game of the year. Between Far Cry 4 and this, Ubisoft is going to be getting a lot of my holiday gaming money.

If the main character is half Austrian, they missed an opportunity by not having Arnold Schwarzenegger voice him
jk
.

There will no longer be guards patrolling the rooftops
Gonna have to get the Creed collection at some point. Nothing beat killing a rooftop guard, tossing his body off the roof into a crowd of shocked people, sprinkling gold over the body to drive the crowd wild, then watching the crowd re-freak over his dead body after the money's gone.

Once in a lifetime!

They removed it from Unity, but the last gen AC is probably gonna have it. I loved the AC MP, but it just became a mess in later installments sadly. Was the best in ACB, went very downhill after that imo

I'm very excited to play this, despite the lack of day/night cycle, and a soundtrack that, once again (after ACIII) sounds incredibly generic.

Just get Jesper Kyd back, PLEASE!

Anyway, facial animations gifs:

And all you needed to quote! ;)
Extremely excited about the new visual fidelity and facial capture tech that they're doing.

The time of day being set during mission I'm sure of, but changing during free roam I don't really remember.

I just remember that in 2 or maybe Brotherhood, Ezio was standing on a rooftop and his ugly shadow was moving because of the cycle. Probably wouldn't have noticed if the shadow hadn't been so poor and had it not moved in ticks.
But outside of collecting flags or feathers or whatever, I don't really spend too much time in freeroam, so it's not something I pay attention to.

I imagine they'll have those "animus hacks" from previous games in there that might be used to change weather, time and such.

Fuck, yeah the lighting in this series makes it really hard to go back to earlier installments, even maxed out on PC. I really hope this is the fresh start that allows them to overhaul both their mechanics and approach to mission design, God knows it needs it (AC4 only sidestepped most of these issues by focusing on the naval stuff).

This game looks so great, I'm really excited for it. It sounds like it's taking the best things from Watch Dogs and adding them to the AC series.
Not too bummed about the lack of competitive multiplayer either, it felt really out of place and the game itself didn't feel like it worked very well. Definitely for the best that they canned it to focus more on the single player.
And I'm also psyched on how it looks like a return to the roots of the series. Even though Brotherhood was quality, Rome was 50% countryside. It's about time to return to a densely packed city with tall architecture to climb on.

-Parkour changes
1.The parkour system has been overhauled, we now have the ability to parkour down as well as up just by the press of a different button.
You parkour up by holding A/X and RT/R2 and can parkour down by holding B/Circle and RT/R2

This sounds really great, actually. I really hope this solves some of my problems with the rather unintuitive parkour of the past entries of this series. But man, pretty much all of these changes and additions all sound fantastic. I'm really excited for this one, especially since it's "next-gen" focused.

Loving everything I'm hearing about Unity so far. I've always wanted to crouch and take cover in AC games since I'm a huge stealth fanatic.

My only wish at this point would be to have Jesper Kyd as the composer again. His music is fucking incredible.

Just noticed this on the PSN preorder page, I guess the resolution could be a placeholder ?

1 player
Network Players 2-4
50GB minimum save size
DUALSHOCK®4
Remote Play
720p HD Video Output
Online Play (Optional)

Must be a placeholder, Ubi said they are targeting 1080p/60fps
They said they want 1080p/60fps for both consoles.

I'm expecting a I:SS situation on Ps4. I doubt they take the time to lock down a stable 60fps, but I'd be surprised if they can't reach 1080p.
True. Hope they reach their goal. Anything for the smoothest framerate and parkour possible.

New Gameinformer article on the site about Arno.

No-nonsense type, with a quick wit, and can be brutal. Cool.

Pretty hyped. Amancio mentioned that, like ACIII, the French Revolution will be used as a metaphor for the major story beats in the game. That's how you use a historical backdrop. Was impressed with how that was done in ACIII, so glad they're being conscious of this in Unity.

Most likely. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the game was 900p with all the npcs, fog, global illumination etc

I guess you were right.

From the "Gamescom demo" thread

Do not expect 1080p or 60fps on PS4 or XBO

"It depends what type of game you play, action/driving/fighting require high level of fps, action/adventure game don't, it is in general and it was in previous AC games 30fps, the AC standard, what we target for Unity. Resolution depends on the systems"

"So we won't see 1080p on consoles ?"

"No, depends on games, certain games are optimized for this, we prefer quality of pixels over quantity of pixels. Our bet on Unity the quality of the image, the rendering/finish, so we have what we call post-processing, lots of Anti-Aliasing, post-effects, nice particules effects, so it's expensive in term of ressources, we prefer quality over quantity"

I feel like the 1080p answer is less definitive than the 60fps one, and now that they have a deal/partnership with Microsoft, maybe it leveled down the standard ?

It seem clearly not 1080p (what a surprise) althoug they claimed otherwise at the e3, but, well, it's Ubi. & 60 fps from them? Lol.

Couldn't care less, if it's just to unlock your skills faster. If someone doesn't have the time or the skill to progress through the game normally, here's an option to pay for the cheats, basically. I mean sure, paying for cheats is kind of crazy, but if someone chooses to pay, that's their business. As long as it doesn't get in the way of my experience, it's all good.

I'm a little worried about how they will surface it, hopefully not too blatantly in your face.

Did you know that AC4 had microtransactions in the SP mode? If not, we can expect that same level of unobtrusiveness in Unity.
