Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Ugh

The scene in the mental hospital when he replays himself in reverse is probably the funniest scene of any movie EVER. That shit still gets me every single time.

That and the scene in When Nature Calls when he is coming out of the Rhino. Holy shit.

How can you not laugh at these movies? FUCKING HILARIOUS!

I was watching Nature Calls again a little while back and man, it really struck me as pretty unintentionally racist with some of the tribal stuff. Still a hilarious movie though, and the first one is classic.

Love them both all of those one liners are stuck in my head and use them at my work or even when parking my car.

"Aaaaaaaallll righty then!"

Him trying to hide in the box is the best thing ever. I have died laughing watching that scene.

No. The second one was also GREAT.

It had the "And you must be the Monopoly Guy", complete with a slap on the guy's ass.

It had the rhino birth scene.

It had the "Excuse me. Your balls are showing...."

It had the african dude trying to balance over the totem pole and Ace constantly trying to make him fall "He's good. With my help he could be the best."

It had the slinky scene on Tibet.

It had the tranquilizer darts to the limbs!

It had the "AAAAAAGHHHHHH!!! You have a lovely Room of Death!"

It had the "Quick! Turn the lights off!"

So yeah, the sequel was awesome.

also the face and gasp he makes when the dude catches him fapping and he asks for more meditation time is pretty damn hilarious.

Fuck, hated this movie.

Ace Venturas were my favourite movies when I was a kid. I watched them daily... remembered all the lines and jokes. Jim Carrey was a genius.

Same here. I'd walk impersonating Jim Carrey all the time. My family used to get a huuge kick out of it.

It's definitely not as politically correct these days, but still a really funny movie. Just makes you realize how we judge things in the future. Who knows, 20-30 years from now what people will say about the movies out now.

I saw There's Something About Mary the other day. I can imagine a movie like that get torn to shreds by sites like Jezebel these days.

Then again who would care what a site like Jezebel would think?

As long as a comedy is not going out of its way to be hurtful I really don't believe there should be any barriers placed upon it.

I even think the Ace Ventura movies get better over the years.

When I first saw them, I didn't think they were funny at all..

But with every time seeing them, I can laugh more and more about the jokes in both movies.

The scary thing is...Hector has barely aged in the 20 years this movie came out. WTF :|

Maybe he really was Satan?

It was on HBO yesterday. Seems to be back in rotation.

The transexual stuff towards the end is probably pushing it, but I'm not one of those PC guys so it didn't bother me personally.

Overall, movie is still hilarious.

Loved the movie as a kid, hated it when I rewatched it recently.

I feel like that can apply to a lot of Carrey's 90's movies with the possible exception of The Mask and Liar Liar.

I'm firmly in the "Sequel is better" camp on this one. You just can't go for more than a few minutes in the movie without running into an iconic memorable scene. My personal fav is the projector room scene where he uses the guys nipples like controller knobs and then starts honking them and the guy covers himself up with his jacket and then it breaks into "Hiho silver away!"

I'm dying laughing just thinking about that scene.
