Achieve Trophies | July 2012 Thread | Lucky Spins and Summer Backlogs

I was just recentally accepted into the Gaf fam. I'd love to get in on this. I'm more of a achievement guy but I do go on trophy collecting binges from time to time.

Right now I'm working on NG III on 360.

Now that I am fully done with school for summer, time to hunt down some trophies! lol

Productive day. 14 hours spent playing Ratchet and Clank 2. Got everything done (story-wise) except the last boss battle. Tomorrow i just need to clean up the skill points and platinum bolts that are left to do, clean a few other trophies up, complete the game, and do a bit of challenge run to get up to 2 million bolts. Should be easy enough.

Is it easy to go back and get snouts and memories you missed in Alice? I missed 2 of each in Ch: 1 and I hope I don't have to replay the entire chapter just to find them.

You can pick specific parts of the level to replay, thankfully.

However, you have to try to remember which ones you got because the game just has a tally for the whole level, not the parts within it.

Going to be crazy if MGS4 trophies is true, especially after so long.

Now if only they could do something about those damn annoying installs, lol.

I just hit 218 hours in Age of Empires: Online, damn is there some grinding to do! Nearly have all my civs at level 40, then I just need to finish up the Crete DLC and get lucky with the random achievement buildings. I've only found the Library of Pergamum (or whatever it's called) so far. No doubt there will be more achievements released in the future, I think there have been hints at the Roman civ hitting eventually...

On another note, I'm pretty pissed off with Timegate at the moment. The ranked servers for Section 8 have been down for 3 months! They say it is maintenance, but apparently it is something to do with their legal battle with Southpeak. Who knows. I still need several of the ranked achievements. :( Here is a link to the topic on their boards: http://forums.timegate.com/showthread.php?t=24960

If you're a completionist and you play on PC or 360, do not put it on your card! There is no telling if the servers will actually come back online. It doesn't affect PS3 users strangely.

Trying to finish up Plants vs Zombies but its becoming a chore now.
only 20 more levels to go. Its extremeley easy the second time round and can pretty much win each level with one gloom shroom planted in rows 2 and 5 and a magnet.

BORRRING

SO TRUE. Gloom shrooms are pretty much a win button. I had to play a level or two between other games just because it got really trivial and boring.

Yeah, took me about a week to go through for the second time because i got so bored of it.

Im having trouble finding someone who's times are low enough. Anyone have a low time on Motorstorm RC on Vita and can send me a challenge? PSN daevv
thx!

God that game runs so bad, but i am almost there so no point quitting now.
the only trophies i wont have is all the creator point/ download based ones. But i dont care about that.

I bought MGS4 along with my PS3 in November 2009. It's still sealed in my game cabinet. At first, I was busy with other games and that trend continued for a few years. I decided I wanted to replay the series from the beginning because I was a teenager when I first played MGS1&2; the HD Collection was a perfect solution to not only do so but nab bonus trophies in the process. So it seems I have even more motivation to wait to purchase the HD Collection at a lower price as well as wait to play the final game. A few weeks ago I was thinking how cool it would be if Half-Life 2, Devil May Cry 4, and MGS4 received trophy support, and I'm getting one of the things I wished for. This weird world...

I have a local friend who, whenever we discussed anything trophy related, would always bring up his wish of MGS4 getting a trophy patch. It kinda took him by surprise when I called him up last night and told him about it, since he obviously didn't believe me when I first told him the news, lol.

Platinum #92 - Gravity Rush
Well that was a lot easier than it seemed at first. I'd left all the challenges until the end and while it took me a while to get used to them, by the end I was finishing them in one or two tries. Awesome game, probably my second favourite of the year so far (behind Journey).

Now I'll go after Gravity Rush's DLC challenges and maybe start Binary Domain (though I don't think I'll bother platinuming it, I'll just go after all the single player stuff).

Most of the time I'm leaving the XBox on to get My Kung Fu is Stronger in Mortal Kombat, though I'm working on Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Mass Effect 2 on Insane whenever I can.

I really like the achievements of Halo, I like how there's several per mission.

My most recent 1000 is Lollipop Chainsaw, and I'm one achivement away from 1050 in Mass Effect 3, just need ~200 more enemy kills.

Too bad Spelunky has a nasty grip on me right now.

Don't forget Heavenly Sword. More people needed to play that game, minus the last boss of course.

For Fallout New Vegas:

Why does the main character keep taking a "sip out of [his] trusty Vault 13 canteen?" What does it do?

Also, sorry for re-asking the following question (as daev has already done) but I forgot the answer ;) When does the story start branching out? Is it in the middle of the Ring-A-Ding-Ding quest, or at the end of it, or somewhere else?

Thanks.

The Vault 13 canteen is included in the Courier's Stash DLC and heals you a little bit each time you drink out of it.

I can't remember the answer to your second question though.

If I remember correctly , you are correct. At the end of that quest is when you'll need branching saves. (Or whatever the term is)

3-4 saves total.

Mirror's Edge looks quite pretty with a platinum trophy next to it; though, not so much when lack of DLC shows it at 83%.

When people ask, "What's the hardest game to platinum," I'm surprised no one answers Super Street Fighter IV. Never mind collecting all titles with undisclosed requirements, never mind completing all trials, never mind beating the game with every character on Hardest (because there's a title for that!), how about the thousands of matches you need to play online and win because you've got to rank every character to C grade? I was looking through the list to find any short-term trophies I could earn and there are hardly any. Beyond beating arcade on Medium and fighting all rivals, everything else involves online. My 3mb/s upload rate is not doing me any favors with that.

Platinum #56 - Deus Ex: Human Revolution

As I was watching the credits roll, I saw the difficulty trophies pop up. I was pretty much calculating how long a playthrough of the game on Easy would be to get Pacifist and Foxiest of the Hounds trophies, since I was 100% I screwed up on getting either.

....That is, until they both popped up back to back, meaning my single playthough platinum was a success. You best believe I pretty much bursted with joy. I'll consider getting the Missing Link for the 100% eventually, but for now, I'm happy.

Edit: And the Plat for this bumped me up to Level 26! Excellent.

Platinum 49: Plants VS Zombies Vita.

Enjoyed this game alot, probably more so then most as i have never played it before at all.
Had a great time with it until it came to running through adventure mode again. Incredibly tedious. Easy as hell with a couple of gloom Shrooms and just not fun. Should of just left that trophy out. The roof levels got rid of that tediousness. But too little too late.

Also 100% Gravity rush now

Makes that my 4th platinum and 8th 100% on Vita.
Ill never get the plat for hot shots as it got boring. So i left that
I cant be bothered to grind for any more bounties on uncharted so i will leave that.
And ill prob finish up Modnation but leave the xp related trophies as that will take forever.

The Metal gear Solid HD collection is up next.

8 1/2 hours into Rainbow Moon on PS3 will get to 10 then have a break by playing Ratchet and clank 2. then go back to it for another 10 hours afterwards then to Ratchet and clank 3.

Its a good game but the pacing Sucks.

I picked up Killzone 2 today in the hopes that getting the weekly ranking trophies are easier now that there are less people playing. I have one of the most frustrating and hardest trophies done already as I had KZ2 back when it first came out and finished it on Elite back then.

ooo let me know how it goes. 1 concentrated week of playing to knock down 3 trophies at once.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I have 10 days off at the end of the month and figure if I put 2 hours or so in a night and one long gaming session I may be able to do it.

That's Ratchet and Clank 2 platinumed! Onto Ratchet and Clank 3 :D

Nice, Just started 2 last night just finished the maktar resort have every skill point and bolt so far.

I probably know where everything is more in this one as its the freshest in my mind.

I tend to play them through to the end and get the skill points and gold/platinum/titanium bolts i remember, then go back and get the rest of them. Seems to have worked out well so far :)

I love Ratchet and Clank 2. There are a couple of levels i REALLY hate on that one, though.

Is 'Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One' doable. Haven't downloaded from PS+ yet, but have it on my available on my download list. Mostly worried because I thought it required a bit of online play and I don't know how popular that's going to be.

No new trophies for me this month:

I think I made a mistake starting Mortal Kombat Vita, Jesus!

Also LOL @ Me stuck @6999 Trophies... HAHA!

So what will be #7,000?

Yeah very doable. Only thing i used online for was grinding bolts (yoy get more bolts online). I'd imagine it's quite popular, being free on PS+ as it is :)

Anyway, according to PSN Profiles, i did R&C1 in 2 days 9 hours, and R&C2 in 2 days 8 hours. Not too shabby, eh?

So for my next major game, I decided to go back through my backlog and pick up something that I'd ignored but kept wanting to go back to.

I have something for games that take 100+ hours to Platinum, it seems... Anyone try this one before? I got some of the easy trophies out of the way, but I'm having a hard time getting a leg up on completing a run with an actual ending.

Got Atelier Ayesha's plat last night, gonna miss that game. No idea what the next'll be, but Persona 4 Arena seems like a contender providing it's not ridiculous.
